I reckon he could be way cool, but then probably doubles up on the Prime role.

I wouldn't want him to look or transform exactly like Prime, but I do still want him to be a car carrier.

Color scheme is good, but not the rest so much. There was a reason they trashed that head design. For me, Ultra Magnus needs to be bulkier.

I love Magnus, so I would certainly like to see him in a sequel. That said however, I would prefer he not transform exactly like Prime and I agree that he would need to be bulkier. I like the idea of keeping him as a transport vehicle, to help other autobots conserve energy as they move in to battle.

So far I would want Ultra Magnus appearing in the sequal, but I dont want him identical to prime in any way possible. BTW, did you make that? because that's awesome!

True enough that would be something to look forward to in the sequal but i agree i do not want him to look like optimus prime because then it would just be annoying

If they're really going to go TF on us, they'll follow the toys and have another robot that looks exactly like Optimus Prime, color him differently, and then call him Ultra Magnus...

I like that design, but I'd want him to be white and silver.

Wow, that's an awesome image. I would like to add his long pointed ear like the G1 Also, he needs a little bit more white to differentiate the current Prime. Otherwise, looks great.

As for him being in the sequel, yeah I voted for him. Personally, I would prefer him as the 18 wheeler car carrier to look different from Prime and to transport the injured Autobot if needed.

Why not make him combine with his trailer?

Never have been a big Magnus fan, don't really care. He shouldn't be in there as a second-in-command character, maybe just another big Autobot.

Well if Magnus is in the sequel, I hope he looks like this...but a little different from Prime, he's too close to me.

Yeah i think Blue and white would be the way to go. There definitely needs be another Autobot Sub-commander and heavy hitter.

All in favor, say aye! That is actually a kickass idea. Granted it would limit him to supporting military ops if they still tried to keep the TFs hidden from Civilians, but that could only serve to make the actual reveal that much cooler.

Oh, and original post image is pretty nifty, but if that's a UM design, way too primelike. Would expect UM to be both bulkier and more heavily armed.

So long as they stick with the spirit of magnus, a tough commander and contender for leadership,(which they didnt do with jetfire, sticking a radiator on his shoulders for a head and making him a pensioner), i'll be happy... some good designs by the way, but i DONT want another Prime recolour, unless he combines with his trailer and looks awsome.

Plenty of bad stuff happened on Ultra Magnus' watch. (like the siege during Rebirth.)Ultra Magnus never wanted to be leader, he was just a commander and effective soldier, as he had Riker of Star Trek:TNG syndrome, but Rightfully so, as I wouldn't want to try compare to Optimus Prime either. As the saying goes, you never want to be the guy who follows a legend. He tried reject it, but he just followed orders.

Hot Rod was directly the cause of Prime's death. It be like having a Justice League movie, and having Jimmy Olsen get Superman(or Jason Todd/Batman) killed in a fight with Darkseid, then take over as leader of the league by end of the movie. Take something that mildly annoys fans, and shove it down our throat is a recipe for failure.

Rodimus knew he sucked even. He spent most of this time doubting himself, which if this was beginning of the series(the movie might as well been a whole new series, while they left the original series going with a 20 year gap to fill in.), his character could have worked. But we already had this unstoppable force of good that was Optimus Prime, being stuck with Hotrod just wasn't going work, the hero's story was told out of order.(not to mention he made some massive blunders over his short career....his biggest was fight or flee, Optimus never would have blown up a planet on purpose.)

All the newer versions of Prime tend mirror Hotrod's progression up the ranks. A rookie getting his first time out as a commander, and eventually becoming one of the best there is, following more usual path of a hero's tale. The only time G1 prime was seen have any kind of progression was usually seen in flashbacks or time travel episodes.

As a kid I absolutely hated Rodimus Prime. Between his really dumb name (Rodimus Prime just sounds like such a cheap knock off to Optimus Prime which actually means something, First and Best.) horrible alt mode, as what the heck did he turn into. As Hot rod he was much more tolerable.

As an adult I can understand why they opted for the change. (and I'm now thankful they didn't kill him to give us Springimus Prime heh.) I actually feel sorry for his character as he was doomed to fail with how he was introduced. In Rebirth, we see him used as a sub commander used in the field while Optimus was more of a management role, like General Hawk was to GI Joe or Professor X in Xmen. Had they simply sidelined Prime by making him the overseer of Cybertron or made him in charge of the earth based transformers, while Hotrod was in charge of the space based missions, fans could taken him better.

Killing a legend and giving as a bunch of fill ins for beloved characters was a poor route to go.All fans resentment was funneled right at Rodimus Prime because of that.

I would actually prefer to have other character in the movie rather than waste the time and money on the CGI for Ultra Magnus. That is just my opinion though.
