Burn:Anyone notice how much of a boring party pooper N_V is? He doesn't join in the fun, he's spent the last few years with dodgy builds feeding XP to the Autobots, and he sure as heck doesn't spam.

Vector Sigma is an ancient and incredibly powerful multiversal super computer which exists across many (conceivably all, though this is speculative) universes. Collectively these multiversal nodes are networked together as the "Vector Sigma Gestalt".[1]
Vector Sigma is generally shaped like a faceted orb. It frequently acts out the will of Primus, and among its other abilities is the infusing of inanimate Transformer bodies with new life. Activating it requires a special circuit key, and possession of the key brings great power.
Tech Spec
Before Cybertron existed, there was Vector Sigma; a super computer of incalculable power. So great was this entity that it could tap into the source of Transformers life itself, the Allspark. Over the eons, Vector Sigma was used by many beings to imbue lifeless Transformers bodies with the Spark of life without judgement. If it was asked to produce noble protectors, it did so. It is was asked to create merciless destroyers, it did that as well. Activating Vector Sigma required a special key, capable of turning organic matter into metal. In lieu of such a key, any Transformer sharing Vector Sigma's computational matrix could activate it at the cost of its own life.
Vector Sigma's influence reached across the multi-verse, where several similar computers would take on its name but serve different functions. In one, Vector Sigma was a computer that all Autobot and Maximal leaders were bonded to. In another it was surrounded by a program known as The Oracle in an age where Maximals and Predacons had taken the place of their ancestors as the primary residents of Cybertron. No matter its location, the very name Vector Sigma has held even some of the greatest Transformers in awe, including Optimus Prime.

The movie wasn't clear on it, however if you Google the name Quintessons and Unicron together you will find many many sources listing the Quintessons as Heralds of Unicron. Many of these sources are Transformer based sites. But check out Unicron's own Bio and background history and you should locate the source of what I came across. I didn't know about that either until I read his mini Bio. Try Google? Although Seibertron.com may have that info as well in the Database. But that would explain how the Quints captured and executed Kranix after Unicron destroyed his world in the 86' movie.
For example:

....Among his numerous subjects are the Quintessons, who hunt down anyone who escapes his wrath...

I think I read some where, that there was an actual creator of Unicron, and he was a Quintesson or something. I forget his name just now, but I think since Unicron's Alt mode is a planet, if I was a Quint I would want to be one of the inhabitants. The Quints are highly intellegent and I would serve Unicron only for some GREAT benefits or enjoyment of watching other worlds be punished for their warped sense of humor. But I would in no way need to stay around Unicron, but do so for enjoyment. Since Unicron is also highly intellegent, any inhabitants of his would also reflect that level of thinking. Quints are not that strong physically and really can't defend themselves, so having Unicron around carrying you thoughtout the universe would be wise. But vectorA3, they only served Unicron is certain continuities, it never happened in the TV series. If the series would have continued I believe they would have had Unicron making a deal with the Quints. I think the writers also thought that could play out well.

In G1, Vector Sigma called itself Vector Sigma and it would state; "Before Cybertron was, I was!" It never said it was Primus. In other TF universes Cybertron is now the body of Primus, perhaps Vector Sigma is his Spark? Megatron told Rumble in the cartoon series that Vector Sigma was the Mega Computer deep within Cybertron; that gave them all life. But why call it Vector Sigma, if it's Primus's core or Spark? Does Vector Sigma still exist outside of G1/Marvel? In Bayverse I believe Vector Sigma became the All Spark or the Cube. So who did the Quintessons create?

In my opinion Vector Sigma is whats left of Primus.
Basically during Primus's last battle with Unicron, where the Fallen betrayed his creator, Primus was seriously damaged and near death.
The Quint's, who were near by watching the battle, swooped in and took over the planet. Not being able to revive Primus and control him they installed a virus like shell program into Primus's mainfraim computer which gave them access to all of Primus's database.
This shell program was then adapted into a artificial life life giving construct named Vector Sigma and used it as part of a mass producing factory for robots.
