Agreed, Weaving was great & Kinda reminded me of a meaner version of Kaye's BW Megs. Without the freaky "Yeeeaassssss"...
Although I swear at parts I hear "Misster Ladiesman..." But that could just be me...

I don't know why people are saying that they couldn't even tell that it was Weaving? I went with to see it with my brother who is a sort of transformers fan but doesn't really follow movies, actors, hollywood and all that, but when he heard Megs speak he asked me if that was the guy that does Agent Smith from the matrix and Douglas Jardine from the bodyline mini-series. To which I replied "Yes it is Hugo Weaving"

Guess some people could tell who it was.

Big guys have big voices. Every tall, large man I have seen has a loud voice to match his bigness. Conversely, small folks have small voices, regardless of gender. It seems only logical that Megatron should be the same way. He is big, so his voice should be big... and it is!

No you dont. Its all opinion at the end of the day. But as you can tell in many peoples opinions, Weaving does a better job for the new look of megs, as welker sounds too old.

Oh my.. he really did change. I'm not sure if I'd want him doing megatron or Galvatron, with that same type of voice anymore. Of course he can do other voices, I'm curious to hear what another take on a megatron/galvatron voice would be.

Cullen's voice aged as well (or he changed it up), but for some reason still works, i guess perhaps of the characters physical look. Don't think I'd like the heavier yet still whispy voice of a current Frank as a new megatron.. think i'd rather remember the old megs as he was.

Listening to hugo, it sounds like they modified it to even give it a "franky" sound, don't know what it is, but it is great.

Ok so listing to that clip even digitized would still sound very raspy and I'm not sure how i would feel toward the new Megs with his voice. I think Cullen's voice worked because the way he did it makes optimus seem experienced like he has been fighting a very long war and the voice fit perfectly with the new look

Proabably because the "new" look isnt really that different from the G1 look. Most of his main features have remained the same, unlike megs who has had a complete overhaul, which IMO looks more like what an evil alien robot transformer should look like.

IMO Peter Cullen shouldn't have voiced OP in the new movie (prepares to be flamed) simply as he fit the Prime in G1 but I feel he didn't have the same impact in the movie.

I believe he was simply there to keep the whining G1 fanboys happy. I personally think Gary Chalk should have done it. He voiced Optimus Prime in more Transformers series' than Peter Cullen and would have fitted the character alot better than Cullen.

This coming from a G1 fanboy too.

Nah....having the original Prime in there really made the movie. His voice cannot be rivaled, and even if it was just to keep the g1 fanboys happy, who cares? Keep him in there for the sequels or we will be really pissed off!

So what you are saying is the movie would not have been successful without Peter Cullen?

No, i never said that as the movie would have been awesome regardless.

BUT, having cullen in there just added to the vibe. People wanted something to remind them of their childhood, so what better way to do it then have the ORIGINAL and best voice of optimus prime in there as well as all the other G1 elements.

I bet that if cullen wasnt in there though, the hardcore fans like us wouldnt have felt like children again when they saw the movie.

Gary Chalk is wonderful, I liked his voice for Optimus Primal VS Kaye as BW Megatron.

For me, Peter as Prime in this TF film, he still had adoable voice. He provided the sound of very gentleman robot and it suit for Prime in this film even he had some tried sound at some lines but that was just they didn't made the voice collaborations in this film.

The individal voice record may good for the single dialogue but it was not good as the term of corresponding to the other voice when they made the conclusion of voices to group.

The voice director must pay more attention on this point.

Err, I think I understand what you mean. I think. :???:

It was odd seeing PC doing Prime again after so many years, it's hard picturing him as Optimus after years of hearing him as Eeyore, I was kinda expecting to see Tigger bounce on screen at some point.

I wonder if Gary Chalk is p****d that he didn't get the role of Prime??

I can't say for certain, but I don't think he even auditioned for the part. I don't think Chalk was even in the running. The only reason why Cullen was is because the fans insisted that he be at least given the chance. We and a group really wanted Cullen as Prime. IF we hadn't, I doubt Cullen would have even been auditioned. I doubt Bay even considered any of the other voice actors who had done the various other incarnations of Optimus. I'm, pretty suer Cullen was the only one.

My point is at TF series, I liked Gary as Primal Vs Loved Kayes as BM Megatron.

I agree with the reason as Tramp given that why Peter is Prime in this film due to demand of Fans and his voice is suit Movie Prime nicely. I mean Prime character in movie is so gentleman.

My comments is there were many robot conversation and it should be better if the filmmakers made the voice collaborations as it more suit while the VA could provided more great voice delivered to support to their voice corresponding when they played opposite or they speak in group.

Not like they made in this film because they made the voice distortion quite at same sound tone.

Further more at some scenes ,the camera lose captured the face who was speaking that lines, just see their back, their legs when I heard someone speak the lines. It's crazy.
