Nintendo working on update to fix Skyward Sword glitch

A glitch that prevents you from even finishing the game because cutscenes aren't playing:

As polished as Nintendo releases typically are, sometimes glitches still sneak through, and one that completely breaks The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is a particularly damaging one.

The glitch prevents users from even finishing the game.

When the “Song of the Hero” quest becomes available, players are allowed to splinter off into one of three places. If players choose complete the Lanayru Desert section ahead of Faron Woods or Eldin Volcano, certain cutscenes will never trigger.

Nintendo has been unclear about how it would solve the issue, either. In the past, Nintendo has fixed major glitches by having players send in their copy of the game or an SD card with the botched save.

That’s still going to be an option, according to a support update from Nintendo, but it’s also being a bit more progressive, and will be releasing some kind of downloadable software that will fix saved games.

“We are also planning on releasing a program that will repair save data for those who have their Wii connected to the Internet,” reads a statement on the support site. “We are currently working on preparations for the release of this program. Information on how to download and use it will be made available through support.nintendo.com once the program is ready for release.”

Details on this update are till being determined, but it’s nice to see you won’t have to ship off a saved game. If you’d like to go that route, however, Nintendo says it will happily fix saved games for you.

I don't have the game yet, so I'm pretty scared. First Super Paper Mario and now this! :shock:

If Skyrim can go an entire month where it's only patch just causes more bugs, and no one thinking any less of it, then I figure Nintendo should be allowed a little slack as well.

I say this because I know someone will be heaping the Anti-Nintendo sentiments.

At least it doesn't unleash some kind of save-destroying monster, like in Pokemon.

I learned this cause my brother got stuck. He redid everything to fix it. Now I know when I take on that quest, to just not go to the desert first. I start playing on Monday so let the fun begin!

A very old and very famous glitch in Pokemon. Surfing along the coast next to the Cinnabar Island Gym, you'd encounter Missingno., a bunch of junk data being represented as a Pokemon. It's a double edged sword, really, you can multiply items in your backpack, but it'll play hell with certain functions, like the Hall of Fame records, or, worst case scenario, corrupt your save file.

It's probably the most well-known glitch in any Nintendo game, and no one's ever complains about it. We just make it out to be this Lovecraftian reality-destroying monster. (It's worth noting that Cinnabar Island is destroyed in Pokemon Gold and Silver)

I found out about that glitch just after I finished that part. If I remember correctly I think the game suggests going to Eldin Volcano first, then Faron Woods, and Lanayru Desert last. So as long as you follow that you'll be ok.

Faron woods, Eldin, then the desert.

I think it's cause they want you to fight the Imprisoned before you take on the challenges for the song.

Just don't do the desert first and everything is fine. I think the patch is out now to fix that glitch though.
