Weapon: Gatling Cannon
Speculation is that Deadpool recives implants and stuff that gives him the powers of other mutants like Wolverine and Cyclops. Then he's defeated as the final boss and rejected as a faliure. I figure the mouth thing might have been done by Striker to shut him up, and in a future movie he will be his talkative self.

My guess is we don't actually see "Deadpool" in this film. We see Wade Wilson and then Wade as Weapon XI, setting him up to become Deadpool in a potential spin off.

Toyfare #141 has the mouthless freak thing listed as Deadpool.

Let's hope they were taken in by the hoax as well cause it'd be damn disappointing if that was Deadpool :? :-(
The opinions expressed in this post are well-reasoned and insightful.
Needless to say, they are not those of SEIBERTRON.COM, its staff members, or any other site lackeys.
Anyone who says otherwise is itching for a fight.

Well, speaking optimistically for a moment, I could see how the lack of a mouth is the result of something rather darkly funny, and non-permanent.

I can also see how he might have a ton of different powers to begin with, but end up only retaining Wolverine & Sabertooth's regenerating powers and maybe Wraith's teleportation (if they don't want to try and explain away a piece of ridiculously advanced technology).

I mean, it's basically taking the premise of Deadpool - a highly skilled human mercenary upgraded with a mutant power - to its logical conclusion, which would be the integration of multiple powers.

And we know that in the comics the artificially applied healing factor didn't really work the way it was supposed to, so it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that the other modifications might crap out, or even, if added after the healing factor, eventually be 'rejected' by the healing factor itself.

So, I can see how they could do this and still ultimately end up with the Deadpool we know and love.

I really hope so. As for the teleportation belt. I hope they just give him that instead of teleporting powers. I mean, they didn't really explain HOW Cerebro worked, people just went with it.

The treatment of Spider-Man's webshooters makes me predict otherwise. For better or worse.

Naturally mutated webshooters make more sense than a high school kid developing a chemical that becomes a durable, sticky, elastic rope, and a mechanical device that is both skin-tight, and powerful enough to launch the rope long distances. (In the '90s cartoon, he also said it could read his nerves, which is why it would only shoot in that one particular position)

So.

Yeah.

That is Deadpool/Wade alright.

The powers of several mutants put into one body. Eyebeams, katana/claw, teleportation, healing factor etc etc.

Given that we've now had two mutants that can teleport and no indication of such an achievement via technology, I generally prefer it this way actually. It's more parsimonious. If Weapon X could develop something as world-changing and weaponizable as a hand-held teleportation device, Wolverine and his amazing friends would be... quaint, by comparison.

Yeah, if they had teleporters, wouldn't they just teleport all their enemies into a volcano or something? I mean, if you have a belt that can teleport you anywhere in the world, why is giving a guy metal bones such a big deal?

You're so much nicer than I am. I was thinking of teleporting away body parts, or teleporting foreign objects into people. :P

Or at the very least, teleport a squad of heavily armed marines to the target and back out before the target's bodyguards can react.

I didn't say it because I didn't think of it at the time. Nothing quite as effective (Or gruesome) as teleporting a bowling ball where someone's heart should be.

It reminds me of a weapon I want to use in a sci-fi setting; it would target an enemy ship's engines, and teleport them to the same ship's bridge.

Well after watching that early version, i'm a little disappointed with how Wade turned out.

At the start, great portrayal, but the end ... well the potential was there, so at some point he'd better make a come back, sans certain powers.

Overall it's a good movie, not strictly comic book origins but close enough with enough modification to make sense to a general audience.

Yeah, there was a ton of potential that just kinda flopped. Just about the same with the entire movie, ton of potential some of it sorely underused, but aside from a few very forced lines "I'm the best there is at what I do, and what I do isn't very nice" I can't wait to see the final cut.

Though it was neat as hell to see the movie before the final edit.

Also, in regards to Wade/Deadpool, apparently the pickups that featured Deadpool were not part of the early version, so there is a good chance he will be in a little more of the final product. And possibly *crosses fingers* a scene that might make a spin off possible.
