Btw, what would be asked for in the letter? I think many of us would have different wishes? For example, I'm not interested in a campaign for Hasbro Skywarp (will get my Takara Skywarp soon), but want a cartoon accurate Elita-1 (and not with the current long spiks, but the drills).

Wow, looks like I really sparked some serious debate. That's good.

Just to clarify: my intent was never to portray Hasbro as evil or senseless. Many of you have misunderstood me on that point. It's partially my fault, for having the word "DEMANDED" in capital letters in my title. I should have realized, given the climate of the board and the frequent anti-Hasbro sentiments expressed here, how that would have come off.

Think of it more as making them aware of what we want so that they can serve us better. While recognizing that we are grateful for what they've already provided us, there's room for improvement, and there are things which can be done which will ultimately be better both for us AND the company. It's not us vs. them.

Okay. So with that in mind, here is how I would word a letter about the Cyclonus mold, for example. For those of you that responded by saying, "Post and I'll sign", you can use this as a form letter if you agree with it. Just copy and paste onto a word document, select all and change the print from bold to regular. Alternatively, those that would like me to repost this an an attachment in MS Word, just ask and I will.

Don't forget to sign your name at the bottom.

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing both individually and on behalf of a large internet-based Transformers fan community. We thank you for the many fine Transformers products that you have brought us over the years, and humbly request that you consider mass-marketing Jizai Toy’s Transformers: Cyclonus figure, which is as of yet commercially unavailable.

As a lifelong collector of Hasbro’s Transformers toys, I recognize that it is impossible to satisfy every collector’s demands. However, this particular figure is in very high demand amongst Transformers fans. For example, although it is roughly comparable to your Transformers Classics Deluxe figures in scale, detail and complexity of transformation, it routinely sells for over $200 US Dollars in ebay auctions (which is, at the moment, the only way for most collectors to purchase it).

Cyclonus is a popular character amongst Transformers fans. Whereas many other "Generation 1" figures have been blessed with superb modern renditions in recent years by Hasbro, Cyclonus has been less fortunate. To date, the only mass-marketed Generation 1-style transforming Cyclonus figure has been the Takara original from 1986, thus furthering the demand amongst adult collectors for an improved modern rendering.

I humbly ask that you consider mass-marketing Jizai Toy’s outstanding rendering of Cyclonus as part of your line of quality Transformers toys.

Yours sincerely,
Metal Ed

I'd be real surprised if you got a response from the Jizai Toy’s guy. I have emailed him several times in the past and got ZERO response.

Anyone else ever get in touch with this guy? :???:

Both my friend and I signed it. I wanted it so bad I had made my own ark from egg cartons lol. the response I received was something like "We're glad you love our toys, but because you had the idea and offered it us we cannot use it without purchasing the idea for legal reasons". I replied instantly saying they can have the idea! Alas, I must settle for a 3 inch titanium and accesory from a 10th anniversary for my fantasy.

My point is, if we want something we should make designs, engineering ones, or even similar prototypes, like jizai. Then market this talent. Also, sending letters to a big corporation I hopeless. I don't want secretarys just throwing it away or replying with a copy/paste answer. I believe the best way to approach this is to go to botcon and let your voices be heard by the real decision makers/designers of Tf's. Isn't that one of the points of the panels?

I'm so grateful for the classics/universe/masterpiece lines. If we want mass produced original designs, we should be sharing molding techniques, mass producing parts, and selling kits similar to gundams.

Just the humble view of a buisiness man and daydreamer.

well from what I've seen on fan videos, was that the point of the Botcon Hasbro panels was to plug their new upcoming toyline, take questions from fans, which all seem to be the same question just worded differently, then the panel answers with some vague response, and everyone is sooo struck like a deer in the headlights from all the merchandise and action going on, that in the end of the trip and fun, their important issue ends up being nothing but a brainfart to the Hasbro personell...

that guy at the back of the table, whom you think is writing down ideas given by fans, is just doodling your face and making fun of you..

either way, Hasbro will do what they want to do, we will keep buying out of fear of pissing off the Hasbro gods, and them cancelling the entire line and genre all together..so basically we as a fan community are just a bunch of smart assed whimps, talking our heads off over crap that really in the end, will never matter to Hasbro.. you want to make a difference for us fans, get a resume together, get a job at Hasbro, and fight the corporate execs for creative projects line, and then come back here to the forum and get our 2 cents.. that's the only realistic way i can see anything being done..

Completely incorrect. You should delete your own post in shame.

Let's see what Hasbro has done: Classics and then Classics 2.0, MP Starscream in the US in the right colors, G1 Soundwave reissue, etc. All for us because we asked for it.

Spoken like a true Botcon Attendee...

I stand by my earlier statements...

Also reread the posts of how cheap transfomers are to make from the expert guy whose in the Plastics industry... then come back and tell me a figure is too costly for Hasbro...

it's like people saying back in the day, oh it's gonna bankrupt the company to get a Unicron figure!!! It'll never be made, it'll not sell because it's just a planet and not a car or plane of something functional..

they could make some of the little suggested figures we ask for.. they just don't

And it's not that they don't hear us, they do...what I'm saying is, it goes in one ear, and comes out the other side.. sometimes things get stuck in there, like US MP Starscream, G-1 Soundwave reissue, classics..classics 2.0..

:-? hmmmmm hold on a second... :-? :-?

Those series and toys seem like perfectly guaranteed sales and not risks.. maybe that's why they released them, and not because of fan requests, but because they knew they were safe sells!!! Hasbro has analysts that can demographically calculate the risks of a toy being produced based on profits in that particular line..

Hasbro hearing us, is fine, but actually listening to us...I'm not so sure that's really ever done...

What of the obscure or fan favorites outside the "SAFE" profit guarantees??

I still stand by my statement!!! :P

You have to be delirious to think Hasbro is pulling a large percentage of profit per figure. Who cares how much the plastic cost, you are forgetting, packaging, marketing, labor, benefits, rent, shipping, etc. Plus Hasbro isn't selling the toys for $9.99, they are robably selling them for way less than half of the retail price. Their profit is strictly made in volume.
