there are so many limited ed. figs and lucky draw crap and then there are the tfs, like the ones that suffer from gold plastic syndrome, that are simply coveted if and because they aren't broken yet and because they are cool anyway- like black zarak.
what i have noticed is that each line of tfs has its hardcore fans and each of those said lines has coveted figures
for example:
bw: shokaract, antagony
g1/80s(u.s.): fortmax,scorponok, pepsi prime
g1/80s(aisa): LOTS- grand max, black zarak, raiden, etc
basically it depends on where your interests lie because ill bet an antagony in perfect condition might rival the price of a complete fortmax (out of box). Because the value of fortmax among g1 lovers is roughly equal to the love of antagony among bw lovers. elasticity of demand, look it up, i tried it on myself and determined my elasticity of demand for "ultimate optimus prime" was "very elastic" lol although i already new that in qualitative terms....
also, i think ANY third party figure/accessory, especially the well- established or high quality brands, such as fansproject or the tfc not-contructicons, are consistently some of the most valuable relative to their original price. i mean what did the classics cliffjumper kit originally cost? $20? now its freegin $200+ in only avg condition if you can even find it. look at defender, city commander.... it'll happen with most of them eventually.
