Here's my wishlist-
  1. A series written and designed by Americans- I find their style of Transformer storytelling better.
  2. A series going into the extended G1 universe, particularly the comics and the Japanese shows, but with a comic/American flavour.
  3. Don Figueroa, Guido Guidi, Simon Furman and all our heroes from the cartoons and comics together on the lineup.
  4. Keep Hasbro out of it. This is a fiction-oriented series.
  5. The stories, like most American stories, should have happy endings (not death of Optimus Prime, death of Ultra Magnus, destruction of Cybertron, destruction of Mars,...)
  6. Maybe reduce the roles, but give each character significant speaking roles, at least one per episode.
  7. More Railbots!
  8. More Masters!
  9. More of city-bots!
  10. Sentient Seacons on TV!
  11. American take on Victory Saber!
  12. Zone? Maybe not...
I've always thought the Headmasters/Targetmasters/Powermasters concept wasn't done too well either in Japan or America. The Japanese created some fun characters and I'd like to see an American perspective on them. I wouldn't suggest keeping the Japanese or Filipinos completely out of it, but let the stories be written the way Americans write them. And humans looking like those on the Sunbow/Marvel shows.

A lot of what I say is because of what I thought of what I saw in RiD and AEC- and I wasn't satisfied with them at all- and their take on extended G1 was a little painful

Also, I think we're due for a slightly more mature series, in the vein of Beast Wars. Most of the AEC kids are older now and could appreciate it in much the way the children of G1 appreciated BW.

Instead, how much you wanna bet we get a sequel to Animated?
TF series seem to come in trilogies now. G1/BW/BM, AEC, Movie(you know its gonna end up being a trilogy).

Im all for a CGI cartoon ala Beast Wars, although it was for a much more mature audience, it still appealed to the kids.

Hasbro have got to be thick to realise that the amount of adult collectors and enthusiasts out there with actual money and spending power for their kids are being passed over. Targeting a TV show like Beast Wars did at this sector of the market would be a real cash cow.

Key elements seem to be getting a tight cast of 7 or so on each side and long ongoing plots that draw in an audience.

Failing that some remake of the G1 cartoon, plotwise and characterwise with todays animation for a few episodes as a homage to the original (25 years and all) to see how it goes

Sigh...I can but dream

The flaw in your logic is that we adults are buying the toys anyway. No need to aim a show at us to get us buying.

I know it'll never happen, but my personal wet dream for a Transformers show would be something like HBO's Spawn series, like Transformers: The War Within: The Series... No humans, dark and moody art style... Maybe get Jae Lee and Don Figureoa to do the concept art. The awesomeness would be epic.

Personally, I'd love the Marvel TF comics animated and if possible, amend the continuity glitches so we get the UK Stuff with Rodimus Prime and Earthforce in there as well.

20 years on and I still love that scene where Metroplex comes out of the ground to destroy the Quintesson invaders. Imagine Target 2006 animated.

Plus, I love Budiansky's Prowl.

Oh, imagine them animated CGI like that Prime/ Megatron fight from TF:TM that Hasbro had on their site earlier this year.

I wouldn't say no to Dreamwave's G1 or Armada/Energon comics either.

Beast Wars was THE animated series. Animated's only failing were those awful human villains.

OR Headmasters, Masterforce and Victory redubbed and rescored like TFCog have done, but with professional actors. Love the TFCog stuff but one or two voices have been lacking here and there. Though Soundblaster's voice is perfect.

Or else go the Marvel route and animate a particular storyline from the comics. The Matrix Quest, Target 2006, Underbase Saga or Time Wars would be perfect. Or even World's Collide.

Wasn't it said earlier this year that the next TF toon would be darker?

Thank you, nice to know the voice effect is appreciated. Lots of time went into cracking it, but keep in mind that 80% of it is how accurate the voice actor is to Frank Welker's performance.

What's next?

I suspect a spinoff of Animated a la the Unicron Trilogy - same animation style and character design, only with Sari about 10 years later. Or barring that, something pretty darn similar.

IMO it seems unlikely at this point that Hasbro would want to have a series revisiting the A/E/C continuity, and they seem more content to toss in G1 homages left and right in a new show rather than just go back totally into that vein - if they'd wanted that, they'd have had a new show ready to go for Classics when they had the chance.

Personally, though...if I were in charge of setting up the next TF series...

...I would actually be inclined to do something as different-looking as Transformers Animated and the '07 movie and Beast Machines were, regardless of how badly fans would rail against it from the beginning. Granted, all the trademark components you would need for a TF series would be there: Optimus Prime, Megatron, Autobots, Decepticons, etc., only done in a way and/or extent that we've never quite seen them before. ALTHOUGH I will say that it would probably have concessions to '80s nostalgia even beyond the obligatory homages to the G1 Transformers (and no, it would NOT be a G.I. JOE/Transformers team-up series, awesome as those toys would be).
I got yer new Captain America right here!

I definitely would not mind a TF resolute toon.
That sounds really cool.

I prefer not to speculate, as it can build up false hopes and arguments, as the different opinions build or crush that of others. As my manager is fond of saying 'Opinions are like a**ehole, everyone has one!'
