i bought this figure a month ago off ebay, and JUST noticed something off...

almost all pictures i can find of this figure show him with painted hubcaps and other silver paint apps all over to simulate scratches. which my figure.. has none of!









when i was searching for images of this guy, i did however come across a news article of this figure being "leaked" and pictured for a sneak preview for that years botcon i assume. the figure pictured is oly in truck mode, has black hubcaps and no scratch paint apps. could mine be a prototype or early release?

and i highly doubt he is a KO or custom. ive never seen this figure KO'd before and he feels like the real thing. the other paint apps he has are solid as well. and i know what a KO feels like after so many CHMS seekers...

Is the lettering supposed to be in reverse? And it's not just the silver paint missing that's off: the upper arms are supposed to be black, not purple. Hang on...

Yup, look like you have a test shot. If you go to the BotCon 2012 archives and take a look at the Con Exclusives page, you'll see that the SG Prime shown is an exact match to your figure.

huh... dunno how i actually feel about this lol.
having a test shot is really kinda neat. but i did want the official version, especially after comparing the two. but in the end he was a really good price and had i known, i probably would have bought him anyways.

yeah. i messaged the guy about it the same time i posted this and he hasnt responded yet. really its my own fault for not investigating beforehand.

You're welcome, and I'd really advise trying to get the official one. The test shot makes for a great conversation starter, plus you could post comparisons between the two

im thinking about it lol... just not right now.
but now ive realized my test shot will look better in a battle tanker armor than the official since the purple tanker has none of the silver scratch apps! and im actually digging the backwards writing on the right side.

Wow that's pretty neat. I wonder how the Original Owner came across it. Maybe Lunch time special from the factory? But I would've thought they'll be more on ebay if it was made.

Don't feel too bad about it. I was over the moon when I picked up my Seekers: Aces set this past weekend. It wasn't until hours later, after I opened the box, removed and transformed each figure, put them in my display, and admired them for the dozenth or so time, that I realized Skywarp was missing one of his landing gear "pectorals." Luckily, TFSource has a donor bot and will send me a replacement piece free of charge.

awwwwww that sucks! nice to see that theyre so helpful though. i had a similar experience with bbts and a masterpiece tigertrack. right out of the box one of his hands was snapped off. an email and a couple pics later, they replaced him straight up. paid return shipping too as i recall..
