1 or 2 exceptions hunh? very gracious of you.
Learn to respect your roots bub.
I am well aware that at the time they were high tech toys, but by todays standards they're craptacular

Yeah, because Leader Megatron is the pinacle of engineering excellece, right?
You don't buy an old sportscar because it is slower than most new economy cars out today...you buy it because it is a classic, and is lovingly remembered for what it was when it was released. Without the "craptacular" 1961 Jaguar XKE Roadster, there would have been no Jaguar XJ220 supercar.
I will gladly take my purple reissue Galvatron over Leader Megatron any day of the YEAR, thank you very much.
See where I am going with this?

Ignorance, does not become the modern man.
Permit me to guide you down the path or righteousness...
Fortress Maximus: Never surpassed
Soundwave: Again, never surpassed. Modern representations have been pale imitations.
Grimlock (Hell, any Dinobot): Would you prefer the Energon or Classics one over the original and if you do prefer one of those, what level of retarded are you exactly?
Now three examples does not a theory make, but it is only to serve as a basis for displaying that you are over generalizing, over simplifying, and essentially adding nothing to the conversation with your dense blanket statement.
(Behold ya’ll, it’s topsy turvey day as I go about exposing the virtues of vintage toys.)
Phenotype wrote:You can respect TF's roots and still think that G1 toys are crap by todays standards, because they are. Sure, without G1 we wouldn't have any of the stuff we have now but let's face facts, if Hasbro starting releasing brand new molds (not G1 reissues) that weren't any sort of G1 homage, just toys done in that style with simple transformations and misproportioned blocky bodies we'd all be like WTF? Today's figures blow G1 away, maybe you don't like the designs or maybe you can't get over your nostalgia but the simple fact is that toy manufacturing technology has improved vastly over the years and from an engineering standpoint the new figures win and it's no contest.
I_AM_MEGATRON can still respect G1 and prefer todays figures, that's a no brainer and anyone on here trying to say otherwise is ridiculous.
Also, Counterpunch, I'm sure there are a lot of people who would prefer Classics Grimlock to G1 Grimlock, especially people who didn't grow up with G1. To say someone is retarded for preferring the former instead of the latter is uncalled for and ignorant. Also, all of your "examples" are nothing more than your opinions, not fact. I'm sure there are a lot of people who feel Fortress Maximus has been surpassed, maybe not in size but in other ways.
Some people prefer articulation and complex transformations and some prefer blocky robots and simple transformations. Some prefer Beast Wars and some prefer Energon. It's not our place to say which one is "better" because it's all a matter of preference.

Leave it to Dead Metal to have the word 'Pronz' in his signature.

Counterpunch wrote:Hardly.
Fortress Maximus has not even been attempted in any way shape or form. He is still the best City former ever.
Every main line release of Soundwave has had notable flaws. Titanium Soundwave is better? Cybertron Soundwave is better (kibble and collapsable knee included)?

And I agree, a majority of G1 surpass the toys of today. Ultra Magnus- Still fun. Sixshot, still one of the best multi-changers around today, Any city bot, etc.
And back to the original post, Recurring theme with me- Cindersaur. I HATE THAT TOY! (The Firecons are something I wish we could forget from G1.)

Anyway on a more serious note How about G1 Galvatron. I never had him as a kid but in 2002 a friend who was working for goodwill picked him up for me. I let him keep it. absoloutly horrid, and it aggravates me that they still to this day have not made a good Galvatron toy. There was rumor that he would appear in the classics line, but yet he still hasn't appeared.
I'd like to see a masterpiece Galvatron. Anyway heres G1 Galvatron for you:
What is that a crown on his head? geez
