Wait what? Didn't Ironhide die at the same time Kup was introduced making it impossible for them to interact with eachother?Tramp wrote:Actually, I'd say they're about the same age. Both are way older than any of the others, and both are described as being real old-timers. They're also best friends and crotchety old men who like to rib each other about their ages.
It's funny because it's true.Sledge wrote:Kup was old in a wheezing, "I think I'll be checking into hospital and never checking out sometime next week" kinda way.
KUP: Springer, my boy-- wait a--
--where'd you dig up that rusty bucket of scrap?
IRONHIDE: Why you broke-down pile of junk!
KUP: Put'er there, Old-Timer.
IRONHIDE: Who you callin' Old-Timer, you secondhand security guard?

I still think Huffer is Dion.![]()
Anyway the comics allways seem to differ alot from the series. War Within allso shows the Dinobots exsisting on Cybertron but in the cartoon version they were built on Earth.
Likewise Ironhide's cartoon version is around the same age as Optimus Prime. They are after all voiced by the same person and he doesn't do a whole lot to make Ironhide sound older. Kup on the other hand definatly sounds like an old man.
"Go chew on a microchip!", is Ironhide's slogan. Prefers action to words. Oldest, toughest, most battle-tested Autobot. Bodyguard to Optimus Prime. In charge of guarding anything of importance. Gruff, but kind. Trithyllium-stell skin makes him nearly invulnerable to attack. Shoots variety of liquids from supercooled nitrogen to superheated lead. Has sonar, radar, radiowave detector. Slowest and most fragile of the group.
Damolisher wrote:Key word: Earth bound. Also, keep in mind th Transformers on Earth were in stasis for 4 million years, so whilst the Autobots on Cybertron aged, the ones on Earth didn't, thereby making Kup Ironhide's senior (In phyisical age) by 4 million years.

The age of Ironhide compared to Prime has never been established, and his voice does sound older. Just because they were both voiced by Peter Cullen doesn't make them the same age. Ironhide's own bio stated that he was the oldest of the Earth-bound Autobots—old, ornery, slow, and tough as nails. Here's his tech spech bio:"Go chew on a microchip!", is Ironhide's slogan. Prefers action to words. Oldest, toughest, most battle-tested Autobot. Bodyguard to Optimus Prime. In charge of guarding anything of importance. Gruff, but kind. Doesn't matter what came first. I never said whitch came first anyway (at least not in this topic) The cartoon personalitys still do not match their tech spec bios.Tramp wrote:The tech specs came first. G1 itself has multiple continuities, including the original cartoon, Marvel comics, DW comics, toys, IDW comics "reboot", Japanese translation, and their manga versions. And actually, yes, Ironhide's cartoon personality does indeed match his tech spec bio. He's an old, ornery toughbot who has seen and done more than any of the others. The only real difference between him and Kup is he isn't one for talking, whereas Kup loves to tell old war stories. Ironhide is the grizzled old Drill Sergeant, Kup's the kindly old vet.Saber Prime wrote:Doesn't matter what came first. What "other" contiuities are we talking about vs Cartoon? There's only Cartoon, Tech Specs/Comic, and Novel. Or there's G1/BW/BM, RID, A/E/C, Movie. I'm just not sure what you mean by Continuities here.
How does being ornery and tough automatically = old? That's about the only part of his tech specs that actully is true about the cartoon version.Tramp wrote:G1 itself has multiple continuities, including the original cartoon, Marvel comics, DW comics, toys, IDW comics "reboot", Japanese translation, and their manga versions. The Earthbound Autobots were in stsis-lock, not stasis. They weren't in stasis pods, which would have placed them in suspended animation and thus slowed aging. They were simply shut down, much like the rest of Cybertron during the Great Shutdown. Thus, their bodies would still have aged. Besides, Kup and Ironhide were already "old men" back during War Within, just not as old.
