who still plays with their toys??

Postby irishking44 » Sat Aug 18, 2007 4:53 pm

Im 17and am on the verge of adulthood and yet i still find myself with my collection of 110+ TFs ive accumulated over the last 10 years playing with them. not just transforming them and then putting them back on the shelf I find myself making sound effects just like when i was ten and every time an outlet mall has a kb toy i have to look for some tfs i might not have.

I know some people say the value of them is ruined when you open the box but i don't care i still enjoy playing with my tfs ocasionally is that wrong?

There's nothing wrong with that.

I'm 17, and I do the same thing with my collection of 90.

It shows strong imagination on the part of the collector.

Feel free to call the ODB thread in the Sightings forum you home! All Brits, and some europeans, are welcome there!

Well it's okay, as long as they are appropriate toys.

I'm sure it's hard to find a member here that does not make some kind of childhood sound effect, or laser noise when transforming their toys, and setting them up for display.

I am EIGHTEEN and I still make sounds and whooshy noises if I play with my toys. Granted I don't play much and they usually just stand on my shelf looking cool, but when I take one or two off to play with cuz I'm bored, hell yeah I'm gonna get into it. Transfans get the whole deal if they wish so - laser noises and all. 8)

older than most of you guys here, but yeah, i make sound effects now and again (but not all times) when playing with my TFs. now, mostly the sound effects are in my mind, heh heh.

fave G1 sounds (see if you blokes can put a name on the SFX):

"chick kuck kuck check"
"chew! chew! chew!"
"bkaw! bkaw! bkaw!"
"boom!" (pretty much self-explanatory)

there's one other sound effect i play in my mind, but it's hard to translate into words... the sound of the thrusters when seekers are doing a flyby. always awesome to hear SS, ramjet, & the rest of the seekers passing by buildings and people at supersonic speed. 8)

and oh, i still sing the first few lines of "The Touch" when playing with my classics optimus prime. :)

too bad i can't imitate that awesome stunt he did in the movie, transforming from truck to robot with a blast of rockets in his hips, tumbling in the air, at the same time shooting down decepticons and finally landing on his feet, never missing a shot. PURE AWSOME. :P 8)

I'm 29 and I open almost everything. Do I play with them? No, I do enjoy changing most and occasionally making a sound effect or just staring at my display cases but I don't play with them. I like my figures to look as pristine as they can so I do my best to avoid paint and sticker wear and the like. If you still play with them though, hey do what makes you happy. Everyone collects for their own reasons.

This has got to be one of the funniest posts I've ever read!!

I just wish there was some way for you guys to attach sound to your posts...cuz I'd like to hear some of the sounds some of you are making while in the midst of a transformation.

Here's one of mine. Say it with me now ok?

If by play you mean smash my toys together and yell "rawr!!11!1" like an inarticulate little bastard, than no.

If by play you mean fiddle around and role play a bit, then yes.

Every time I pick up Classics Starscream, I think of that part of the animated movie attack on bot city, where SS is chasing down Springer and Arcee.

When I pick up Skywarp though, I think of Cyclonus leaping out of Steel Haven and tfing to attack the bot shuttle.

heck, i was playing with them while reading this thread. i was having wreckags shooting at ciciadon, while brawl was sneaking behind wreckage, hoping to mug him, just as voyager optimus lept in, both guns blazing, saving ciciadon and wreckage, and was about to join in with thier target practice/evasion games, but then, upon seeing 08 bumblebee, they all focussed thier attacks on him. i

...but thats what I do  Is there really a better sound than "rawrrrrrrrrrrr" tho? Its awesome.

But in all seriousness, all the sounds play when I'm in my head. I occasionally play with them by setting up new poses and displays. But to actually play with them would make me crazy with my OCD about knicks, stratches, and paint chips.

I'm 31 and on the verge of adulthood, and I still play with these! I'll spend hours setting them up just to knock them down!

My collectable collectables are kept safe, but otherwise let the battles rage! I don't see the point of collecting toys, if you won't enjoy them.

If people try and make you feel stupid about that, look at what they do and tell me that most of that makes sense.

As for outgrowing this stuff, I felt that when I was 14, so I gave all my stuff away, to this day I kick myself for doing that!

yeah, i'm with you... i wish i could hear the sounds of you guys doing your own versions of "chuck kok kok check" (well, at least that's what the transformation sounds like to me :P ), man, we could spend all day laughing our pants off at each other... btw, what's that sound for, care to elucidate us?

ironhide001 wrote:Any people here play toys in the public like in the train and make lots of sounds?

well, there are no trains in our locality, but when i was young yes, i do play my TFs in the public without a care and i DO make a lot of sounds. haha. mostly laser ones and jet-thruster flyovers. i never had a gun megs but i can imagine playing with him and shouting. "BKAW! BKAW!" everytime he uses that fusion cannon. 8)

my style of playing nowadays is not as rough as when i was younger. now, mostly the alt forms are the ones seeing the most action (i.e. my classics SS gets the most flight time, the cars, etc.) but when time comes for the robot mode, usually i just pose them and imagine. have to take care of those ball joints not getting loose. 8)

although my classics BB usually accompanies me time and again to the bathroom (don't ask), flying on his wave crushers and keeping a look out for intruders while i answer nature's call. LOL.

that's the great thing about TFs, they excite the imagination and in our minds, with the figs in hand, infinite possibilities and impossible scenarios can wildly manifest. it doesn't matter if you're a kid or an adult, TFs never fail to excite my imagination.

i'm 18 and as much as i love toys, i've never played with them. It would would kill me if they were to get scratched or loose which is why i have them in shelves posing and looking cool 8) . I let my imagination do all the playing and whenever thats not enough, theres always the video game :D

I've lost my imagination for the most part when it comes to battles. Transformers that I keep in a box under my bed(Armada and up pretty much, cause I don't have the shelf space, and they are in the least danger of getting damaged) I pull out and transform, but rarely do they encite in battles. Once in a while my imagination kicks in(like when I got Supreme Starscream a couple weeks ago, I was having a battle between Omega Supreme's battleship and SS in jet mode), but for the most part, I just can't do it anymore. Kinda saddens me a little bit, cause I used to play for hours on end when I was a kid, those were the days...

But laser sounds and all that are the norm when transforming. And animal TF's I can't resist making rour sounds when opening the mouth.

Stage battles and sound effects? No. Transform them regularly, pose them and display them around the clock? Yes. I don't have the time or patience to set up a giant battle display or something...as we all well know, nowadays it takes a millennium to transform them. They're complex.
