worst critics

Postby riogrande100 » Fri Jul 27, 2007 9:20 am

recently been reading some critics views of the movie, and i have come across 2 which were very very negative.

But when anyone actually reads the review they find it was written by an old hag, who even hates the transformers franchise. the review started why would they make a movie about an old 80's toy, not knowing the myth behind transformers.

I have had enough with magazines and critics sending people who do not enjoy action movies to review it. I loved the film, and everyone I know who watched the movie loved it. I have had enough of the movies like spiderman 1/2/3 which spend 2 hours of people moaning about their power, and the characters arguing over their relationship. These films seem to drag on and on, whereas transformers flew past.

One reviewer even went to say their was nothing impressive about the action in the movie, now you know that is rubbish. as no matter what watching the trasnformers transform is excellent!!!

So why is it wrong to criticise the movie? I for one didn't think the movie was good at all, but everyone is entitled to an opinion wether or not they liked the film or the franchise or not. Nobody should downplay peoples criticisms just because X amount of people liked it.

You'd be licking the critics backsides had they given a "positive" review.

These threads criticising people who don't like the movie are becoming as boring, stale and old as the "Michael Bay raped my childhood threads" from last year. It's a movie, some will like it some will not, get over it.

Many critics liked it, but I am not quoting them. My point is I hate Harry Potter and find the whole phenomenon stupid. Now if I got to review the movie, what are the chances it will be positive?????

The basis of my argument is how newspapers/magazines send a person with a negative view of a product from the outset, to review that particular product.

Like someone said don't send an art critic to review a heavy metal concert!!!

We've seen transforming CGI robots in advertisements a good few years now.
We've seen slo-mo, gun-shooting shots for years now.

So, the thing left to see is GIANT robots stomping around and fighting in CGI.

BUT... the camera was blurred, at the wrong angles, shakey.

These points being said are not "hating", they're coherently describing problems.

The camera wasnt "blurred" As far as i could tell everything was in perfect focus. What you are complaining about is called "motion blur", it happens with everything. You take an object, move it really fast and your eyes will see it as a blur. Like putting your hand up infront of your face and then shaking it really really fast, you will see the blur. Its because the human eye only see's 25 frames per second, and unless something is slowed down to around 125 frame per second things will look blurry to us.

The effect was obviously forced on the CGI shots to make them look more realistic and to blend in with the live action footage better (which it did better than any other movie i have seen so far). Nothing was blurred or out of focus by mistake, everything was just simulating what the human eye would see in real life.

It's true that a lot of negative reviews start out trashing the idea of Transformers in general, the silliness of making a film based on toys from the '80s, and then use that to beat the movie around. The Daily Mail review banged on about how everyone's after this cube, whatever it is, for whatever reason, it makes no sense. Like the film or not, and I'm fine with people disliking it, that stuff IS explained, and to not see it is wilfully missing the point to make the film seem dafter than it is.

Dude you are a Transformers FAN. I don't think the Topic starter is referring to you. I think what he is saying is if you are not interested from the jump then you shouldn't review the film. Sorta like a Rock N Roll fan reviewing a Classical Album.
There is no excuse for TF3 to not be done properly!!!

True, but I have to agree (to a degree) with Riotflea on this. The way Devastator/Brawl was handled was a shame. With all that blurring you just could not get a decent look at him. Same thing with Starscream's battle with the jets above the city. There are a couple of other incidents, but largely the camera work is fine.

Strange that you point out those scenes, because i actually followed them very easily and thought they were some of the better looking shots. The only one i had trouble with was BB and Barricade at the oil plant. But that was probably because of the mix of blurring and the dark lighting, since it was at night after all.
