My problem with TF TM wasn't exactly that prime died, it was that everyone else seemed to be killed off too... Starscream,Ratchet it is supposed to be a war, and wars have casualties but why my favorites??

The Five Faces of Darkness...whatever that was. Poo!

Death of Prime, Ratchet, Prowl, Ironhide, and Starscream. You know, people's favorites. And turning Megs into Galvatron. I know there's worse than that, but it changed everything. And I hate change. Killing favorite characters is a huge no-no when you do it en masse.

Oddly enough the death of prime (or any of the others) in the G1 movie didn't faze me when I was a kid. I was way too excited on the new characters, all my favorites survived, and the animation errors and oversights in season 3 to me (when I was a kid) meant that most did survive.

I have seen episodes of every US transformers series but RID, I stared with G1 as a kid and it is my third favorite (BW is number one, BM is number two).

What do I consider to be the worst points of transformers?

the worst points of G1

- The comics splitting the fandom and taking it to new levels of self righteousness. For example if someone criticizes something the bumbling idiot version of grimlock does on the cartoon, someone else will instantly call you wrong with information on the wolverine imitation grimlock from the comics and chide you for misguidingly judging the cartoon based on the cartoon continuity. (to be honest, i dislike both the bumbling idiot versions of the dinobots (though as a kid I loved them) and wolverine type characters). Insteadof viewing G1 as differentcontinuities for the cartoon and each comic series, fans unite them in their mind and hold it against others.

- characters not learning after each episode so they can grow and develope.

The Worst Points of BW

BW didn't really have any bad points, but I will say giving dinobot 2 back the originals memories without explanations. and the first few BW episodes before it truely got good.

The Worst Points of BM

- inconsistant characterization.
- replacing the vehicons with the generals
- making the techno organc cybertron too earth like and not metallic enough.
-the final battle bringing some of the pointless power ups that will characterize later series.
- the threats to skir which killed the beast seriesand opened the door to what was to me the single worst point of transformers history.

The Worst Point of Transformers as a Whole

ARMADA: To me armada is the single worst point in all of transformers. Whough I disliked the whole unicron trilogy, only armada was bad enough to make me not want to ever see another episode of it. To make it worse i first seen armada after finishing my BW DVD's so my expectations were very high. I thought a new faction would add depth and complexity to the transformers mythos. Instead minicons were mere powerups who couldn't even talk. The anime type personalities annoyed me (anime art doesn't bother me, but some kinds of anime characterization does), the lame dialog of cyclonus really irritated me, and the kids were annoying too. Armada brought the transformers animated series to such a new low that even with energon and cybertron making improvements after transformers has yet to reach the heights that beast machines had at its worst and that is saying alot.

For me it's Prime's death; as it ushered in a fairly rapid decline in not only interest, but also quality as Hasbro tried to grasp for straws with gimmicks such as Action Masters(*shudders* worst gimmick ever).

And then, of course, there's Beast Machines. While I would LOVE to see the level of story-telling that series had(and something that I think is unlikely to see from the new series coming up), the storyline took the show to places I don't think I ever want to see in a Transformers show again.

That's not my biggest beef with that piece of crap line: the most important part of any TF series, the toys, SUCKED. Let's face it, the toy designers and animators either weren't in communication on that series; or the designers just had no clue as to how to translate the cartoon designs into plastic. The Vehicons were OK, in a sorta "futuristic-steampunk", drone-way(rofl, yeah that made no sense whatsoever; just ignore that last part).

For me, that series damn near killed Transformers; and I don't think I'll ever understand the drooling over Transtech prototypes as they just reek of BM to me. As crappy as the RID cartoon was, it was like an answer from God when I was in Vegas and first saw RID figures(The first one I saw/bought was the Spychanger Crosswise). It was just so, so nice to see vehicle modes again; and not anymore of that organic look.

Action Masters honestly have to top the list. I mean, what's wrong with this... Transformers... that don't TRANSFORM? Shock and surprise, the line falls away around that time.

Generation 2, while interesting, dropped the ball in a lot of key respects. People like the G1 figures, so let's... um... give them wacky repaints, water cannons and sound boxes, etc. And then it got away from the G1 molds entirely. Which wasn't terrible, but wasn't great either. On the other hand, you could make the argument it gave way to Beast Wars, which really changed the expectations for how articulated Transformers could be.

Pat Lee. Don't worry, folks, he can still find work. You can sleep at night.

Star Wars Transformers. This line could have really been something if it were Transformers characters made out of Star Wars vehicles. But making them turn into giant versions of the SW characters just killed this for me(and a lot of other fans).

He was crushing the metal that surrounded his neck. Transformers have a form of a skeleton underneath the metal we see. The Transformers Ultimate Guide from DK showed cutaways on Prime and Megatron. Most likely while crushing the metal Galvatron pinched off a fuel line or some form of an intake. That'd be my guess.

The death threats to Bob Skir which lead to:

1. The cancellation of Transtech, another Canadian produced CGI series in the orginal G1 universe.
2. The dubbing of Robots In Disguise for western audiences.
3. The creation of Armada.
4. The creation of Energon.
5. The creation of Cybertron.

Transtech being dropped was a big mistake for the Transformers franchise, it had so many possibilities for it.

The dubbing of RID through to Energon was fairly bad across the board, and made the shows seem worse than they truly were.

In G1, making Galvatron a crazy maniac was pretty lame, as was their general treatment of bots such as Soundwave, Blitzwing Jazz, and other Season 1-2 bots that somehow survived the movie.

G1 toy wise I got to say the biggest mistake was the gimmicks dominating the line. Transformers always had gimmicks, whether they be combiners, triple changers, jumpstarters, etc. But the transformers took a back seat to gimmicks themself in the headmasters series on. By the master series I was drifting away from transformers (in part from growing up, in part from the gimmicks). Though targetmasters were tolerable as the gun was not part of a transformer. (and as any kid knows small parts get lost all too easilly), power masters who need the engine in (or the button pushed) to transform were annoying when you lost the nebulon partner. But headmasters annoyed me the most as losing the partner makes youlose a very important part of the character (poor headless mindwipe). When I was a kid my last 3 transformers toys were one from each master series. needless to say I lost interest at that point only browsing them on store shelves without buying for the rest of g1.

Pretenders had no appeal to me, their outer shells did not look like transformers, and the inner robot rarely had an alt mode that looked like anything. Action masters were worse as they didn't even transform. (if they were sold as heroes of cybertron type models not toys i could see an appeal though). And Micromasters had no appeal to me. The G1 toyline jumped the shark when the gimmicks became the toy line.

For me it was the creation of the Pretenders (in the comic books) and the death of Optimus Prime.

The death of Prime never made sense to me. He had endured as severe or worse attacks than the ones that killed him in the previous seasons to the movie.

And the Pretenders (along with the earlier Headmasters and Targetmasters ) made it all but impossible to follow what was going on.

Also, When they stopped making the alternate modes look like Earth vehicles it hurt the franchise badly I think.

Another thing. When the animated movie came out, they replaced a cool, brutal, calculating Megatron with the raving lunatic Galvatron.

And most incarnations of Megatron/Galvatron since (including the live action movie) have been the same.

Decepticon leader as a monstrous crazy guy.

Did the threats to Skir actually lead directly to that? Obviously it was a particularly fugly moment in TFandom history, and I know it led to Skir cancelling convention appearance(s) and surely won't have helped, but I thought it was more that the general poor reaction to Beast Machines (of which the threats were an extreme symptom) led to Hasbro abandoning its own direction with Transtech, linking up with Takara to produce Armada, and importing Car Robots / RID as a stand-in series in the meantime.

Weapon: Sniper Rifle
I think what the original poster meant was within the storylines...

In any case:
-The death of Optimus Prime.
-The battle in Autobot City in 2005.
-Unicron's attack on Cybertron.

Those times belong to the Cybertronian hystory books.
