Its nice to hear punches and kicks will be toned down. Honestly, a con who had nothing but strength, not even a weapon, beat my bot who had courage and and a double-barreled plasma shell shotgun with punches and kicks alone, doing more damage than any of my attacks. Not to mention the con attacked more often than my bot, so courage seems meaningless if someone with no courage attacks more than you.

btw, PPF are already sold out, so adding effects to them will be the same as the battle-blades and dol-laser rifle thing. They rule, and nobody can get them. Sure you could spend your life refreshing the weapons page looking for any one of the 3, but come on! You'll still never get them. God, I'll spend my time using X-ray lasers forever.

You're missing the point, the xrays, dols, bbs and what have you will no longer be the be all and end all. Higher up weapons will *finally* be better than lower down weapons. The popular weapons will naturally become more readily avialable, as their current owners sell em and move on up the weapon ladder.

Sadly it is still hard to even immagine change, personally anyhow. Like previously stated somewhere else, people usually get obliterated by not having a Dol or a BB. The case still stands until the update so personally being a victim of never seeing a Dol in the store, I've just been traumatized by it to even picture it not this way.

And since he said some weapons will get better, all I could picture in my mind was weapons which ARE good will get even better, but still the weaker ones will continue sucking, resulting in people never selling the pre-existing great weapons combined with stores never being restocked.

He has clearly stated that the weapons WILL be balenced.
Did you read my last post? Crap weapons may not be vastly imporved, but they shouldnt be. The days of BBs being overamped and the be all and end all WILL be over, and the current weapons problem a thing of the past.

Im sure there will be some teething problems, but it will solve the current problems. That's the whole point of doing what he's doing...

What's happening is that OS has basically smashed the current weapons mechanics into small pieces with a sledgehammer and started fresh, using Tammuz's ideas as the building blocks. This means that all weapons are being re-done individually; not in relation to other weapons, but instead on a set system of guidelines that dictate cost. Trust me, it'll be grand

Something that has just occoured to me. Will the changes to the weaponary in anyway effect/improve/damage the effects of tactics like avoid, strafe and posibly repair?

At this stage I would say no.

But I think with what OS has planned you'll be happy if the weapon has no affect on your tactics.

(Probably something that can be looked at for a second weapon slot maybe)

I am still quite befundled as to what exactly happens in the update, but a link to a topic or something where it is explained will suffice.

You know, I can see what OS rolling out to simply be Weapons 2.0 with an expansion pack released at a later date with all the different ideas out there.

So with Punches/Kick being downsized, then the fact that I have high strength becomes a problem. And with no alt mode rotation--if one wanted to experiment with said new weapons, one would have to reset and not be able to get the alt mode of their choice. And with their old set-up being downsized and limited to the mechanics of the new system, how then would they be able to continue on the path they're going?

I see this as a problem. UNLESS, Omega Supreme you've devised some plan that we can simply reset our stats WITHOUT resetting our alt modes. Then I don't see this as being a problem.

They can continue on their path and get slagged or adjust and try new strategies.

Alt modes are going to be addressed after the weapons launched. Eventhough you won't get your old alt modes back immediately, you will get them back soon.

The weapons were prioritized first because improvements to the gameplay itself has been on the backburner for way too long in this game.

Or perhaps if all Alt-modes were made available for a fixed time after the weapons update. Then everyone could reset any "un-resetable" bots at the same time. I'm no programmer but that sounds easier than implementing alt-rotation.

Just a thought.

All sounds great to me, I've never cared much about which alt I used anyway, and the only unique one I have I would even remotely mind losing is permanently attached to my account... :grin:

Sounds to me like finding a good build is going to get a lot more complicated, which is for the good.

So is there going to be an announcement when the changes are made and are you willing to give us an ETA?
