DW never was a reference since they made up stories that were never explained in the original series and that so many years later.

No, Ptitvite, everyone did not agree that there is no such thing as a naked Ultra Magnus or a twin Prime without armor. Secondly, the DW series is just as canon as any othe series, and even according to the Ultimate Guide is the main canon for the original G1 continuity, completely overriding the cartoon and Marvel series. The IDW series is a complete restart, not part of the original continuity. The fact that the cartoon and Marvel comics never showed him without the armor does not mean that he couldn't remove it. Also remember that much of the DW series was written by people who worked on the original Marvel series including Simon Furman. Granted, War and Peace was not written by Furman, but He did participate in the DW line. It was also based upon all of the previous continuities including the toy, cartoon and Marvel comic.

Secondly, the G1 toys came first. The cartoon is based upon the toys, not the other way around. It is the cartoon that didn't always match up with the toys, not the other way around.

This whole argument can be resolved by simply saying that Qwailo's Ultra Magnus doesn't transform the full way. Let's suppose that, at some point during the transformation from the cab and carrier to the robot form, the two merge, such that -- if you were able to take a snapshot of UM at the exact moment before he unfolded and stood up -- you would see the appearance of a lone cab with coloring similar to that of UM's combined robot form. And who's to say it doesn't? Even if you go frame by frame in the animation and never see such a thing, real life has way more than 25 (or whatever) frames per second and 6 (or whatever) panels per "page."

So perhaps the reason that we haven't seen photos of the alt mode yet is because Qwailo is having trouble capturing this exceedingly fleeting moment on film/memory chip! It's basically the UM equivalent of the moment when Optimus Prime's trailer vanishes into thin air.

And here Tramp is harping about true G1-style and 100% accuracy and the necessity of transforming trailers and whatnot, while Qwailo was brilliant enough to make a custom with a unique mid-transformation alt mode. For shame, Tramp -- for shame.

Simon had nothing to do with the wite Prime, don't you know that mister I know everiting superartist Pat Lee, was the man behind it all? That he stated to remember stuff from the cartoon that never happend?
So if the DW stuff is based upn the toys, wy are they stialised, wy do they look like marshmallows?
Please let's just stop this madness!

First off, They don't look like Marshmallows, and they aren't nearly as stylized as the cartoons. They're much more detailed. Also, I said that Furman worked on the series, not that he had anything to do with the white twin of Prime that is Ultra MAgnus. That was Brad Mick, the writer of War and Piece, who happened to be a huge G1 fan before becoming a professional writer. Lee was just the penciler, not the writer. Furman wrote Dark Ages for example.

Qwailo, I think your G1 accurate Classics Ultra Magnus kicks tail pipe. I personally like both the toon and Dreamwave versions/continuities, so this is a great homage to the original U.M from the movie and season 3.

------------------------------------------------------------

The fact that the cartoon and Marvel comics never showed him without the armor does not mean that he couldn't remove it.

Oddly enough, there were no "white Prime" bits or exposed limbs and extremities when Magnus was blown apart by the the Sweeps in the movie. I just watched that scene right now, as well as the one where the Junkions put him back together. First of all, if the G1 toon version was the same as the DW version, as you imply it is, you'd think the "armor" aspect should have been blasted off in sections during the attack, thereby exposing the "white Prime" underneith, rather than blowing everything about Ultra Magnus apart. Second, when the Junkions were reassembling him, if you watch the scene, you'll notice that any aspects of his inner workings which are shown (joints being reattached) show no evidence of a bot within a bot. Finally, you'd think the Junkions would realise that he was a bot within some bot armor and either say something about it, or remove "white Prime" from the armor before reassembling him, then reassemble his armor over his "inner" self.

None of that occurs.Go figure...

I have the movie Wolfguard, I know the scene you're referring to. It still doesn't prove anything. It just means that the blast blew him up armor and all. Regardless, it is still the combination of this trailer and cab that produces that robot appearance, not the cab alone, and that is my only issue with this piece. That is why it isn't truely G1 accurate like he claimed it to be.

Still a great repaint no matter what any one else says.

I think it might be a good idea to repost the thread with just the first post- you know, clean the slate- and just delete this one. It's been clogged up with crap from ONE arguement. 8 bloody pages. Don't you have anything better to do?

I'm certain some positive comments went unnoticed so
I think you did a great job on this guy and gave him a great G1 essence and the paint scheme is very truthful to his G1 counterpart. I also love the extra details you added to him.
That's what makes him so nice!! Keep up the good work!
Hey, did you think of taking the head from a Myclone UM?

The robot heroes heads have been used quite successfully on deluze figures.

My question is this- would UM's robot hero head be too small to be viable on a voyager?

And personally, I blame some of the newbies.

And the answer is.. no Robot Heroes head too small.
I have classics Prime and I have the Myclone head.
They are the same size!! It would fit perfectly!

I had to step in and remind people to be civil in their posts. That's considered a strike. Anytime a MOD or Admin posts in a thread to quell any misbahavior is considered a strike.
