They never replaced the insides with an elite. Why would they anyway? It's the same system. The only differences between the Elite and even the Core/Arcade is cosmetic.
What they will most likely do, since it's pretty much what they always do, is see what's wrong with the system, then send you one they had previously fixed. Whatever you do though, don't send your hard drive. They'll probably send you a new hard drive anyway. It's another common thing.
Do I send my power cable and AV cables with it or just the console itself? It didn't say
I don't think you have to send the cables with it, but you might as well since the one they send back will have new ones. The hard drive is the only thing you need to hang on to.

It crapped out again because of the high defective rate. I think they're made in Mexico or something. I've known people to go through 4 replacements in 3 months.
My first 360 lasted 28 days, my second lasted 11 months. I'm on my 4th now. By comparison, I bought a used PS3 shortly after my 3rd 360 (little over a year ago now) and it works fine. Even got a new 250 gig hard drive for it, which cost me less then the 120 for the 360.
