I'm a Bumblebee fan...but, good grief... you need a ring just to turn on light effects...they should have put it around his neck instead so it could be hanged! Where, oh, where is their sense of aesthetics!!!! NADA! :-x

Weapon: Switch Blade Tail
-_- Well, all my hopes were dashed. I wanted a Leaser Class Bumblebee due to how awesome the first pic looked, but now that we see it in all it's..."glory", color me unimpressed.

This one's a pass, for sure.

EDIT:
Blurrz wrote:We can whine all we want... this is going to sell more than the Leader Optimus Prime...

Oh, don't be too sure about that. According to the Target pricing, he'll be $60+

If Leader Class Optimus isn't selling, this Bumblebee won't either. Especially considering the holiday season's over. No one's buying squat, if anything, they're recovering from what they did buy.

If it sells, great.
If not, not unexpected, and to assume that it'll automatically sell is just silly.

I don't think it'll automatically fail to sell, but I have high doubts it'll hit record breaking sales.

Whoah, lots of hate on for this dude, it seems.

I think the most sensible post so far has been the guy on page 1 who basically said he'd hold off until he saw a review, which is a fair point. As we all must know now from bitter experience, stock photos do not tell the whole story.

I mean, who really knows anything about this guy? Maybe the ring-pull is detachable. Maybe the gun-arm swaps out for a hand. Maybe the transformation is the most satisfying thing since having your feet massaged by Emma Thompson. I don't know - no-one does outside of Hasbro.

And as for those who keep complaining about scale - come off it!!! Since when has ANY line of Transformers been completely to scale? When I buy a transformer, I judge it on its own merits as a Transforming toy, rather than fretting about how it will look when displayed next to my Real Gears.

What does interest me is the legs on this toy - which do look to be the best representation of the CGI model yet seen. All previous BB toys have kibble on or around the legs, so where does the rear bumper go in robot mode? Does it fold away seamlessly, or is it part of a huge backpack worse than HA Sideswipe or Voyager Megatron?

The point is we don't know, and to judge this bad boy on just one picture does seem to be a bit presumptuous.

I know that people are growing bored of Bumblebee representations by now, and that's completely understandable. But Hasbro are in a no-win situation. The character is in high demand, so they need to bring out new 'Bee toys because of the demands of the market. When they repaint old molds the fans complain, and now they've brought out a new mold, the fans STILL complain. Like anyone's being forced to buy this. So long as Hasbro think a toy will make a profit, that's all the justification they require to release ANYTHING.

So count me down as cautiously optimistic. As a completist, I shall be buying it whatever happens. But one thing I shan't be doing is giving it a definitive thumbs down before I see it for myself in my own two hands.

looks kinda meh. They need to give BB two arms and/or a removable arm cannon. I'll probably just keep my Ultimate BB even though the articulation is weak --too bad there isn't more at the waist. Anyway, what I'd like to know is if the guns fold back in alt mode for Battle ops BB so he can be displayed with the hood clean. That would be cool. And I agree Barricade is not getting enough shine --save for the HA Barricade. Looks like a good toy.

I think (and this is just speculation here) that the pull ring just so that people can activate the gimmick on the shelves (like a 'try me' function).

Assuming there's some kind of switch/lever on the underside of the arm somewhere, such a switch would not be accessible from the front of the box, so the lever's just there so people can activate the gimmick in-stores without having to take the figure out of the packaging. If you look at the pictures of the box, you'll see a 'try me' window in just the right place.

Presumably, when you take the figure out the the box, the unnecessary ring-pull can be discarded (just like the discardable 'stoppers' you get in the back of Gravity Bots.)

Most of the time, when I see a new figure being released I like to check it out and see what the figure has going on. Even if it doesn't fit into my collection and I don't plan on buying it, I still like to see the new stuff.

An odd thing happened today when I saw then new BB. I just didn't care. There is nothing about this toy that says to me "check this out". I have two BB's from the movie line already, from what I saw of the images there are no new gimmicks to play with, and I don't think the figure looks all that good. I mean, he has giant guns on either side of his head that didn't appear in the movie.

I literally looked at that picture and said "ugh" out loud.
Check out my collection!

A couple reasons...

1. scale - the voyager class is not entirely "up to scale" with the other figures. It definitely needs to be bigger than a voyager class.

2. intro - he was the first transformer to be seen live on the big screen and made a big impression. He definitely had a more of a prescence than Brawl (who latter was made into a Leader class figure).

To be fair though, Leader Brawl is arguably the best figure to come out of the 07 line. Great accuracy, fun & intuitive transformation, nothing taken away from the figure just to add unnecessary gimmicks. Blackout would hopefully be just as good.

Oh WOW! This is AWESOME! I LOVE it!

I have never so completely not wanted a Tranformer more! I had Supreme Cheetor and I'm not buying this piece of trash. I've never felt what it's like to know this far in advance to NOT buy a Transformer! My wallet actually seems $60 heavier now.

Quick question: Does Hasbro know Bumblebee even has a right hand anymore?

Funny how there are way more Optimus Prime and Megatron toys out there yet no one is complaining. Yes, it's another movie Bumblebee toy, so what?

About the ring: it's clearly there only to activate the feature IN PACKAGE. You just ditch it once you break open the box.

Finally, why are people assuming this opens the slot for another 5th leader class toy? Hasbro NEVER EVER said we were going to get a 5th leader. This Bumblebee first got frontpaged as the 5th leader and the rumour went from there.

Whether the package says "Leader" or not doesn't matter. It's the product Hasbro appears to be putting into that (or a similar) size/price category.

...and if we based info/opinions on the things Hasbro told us (or didn't tell us)...Lord, I don't know where to start with that one.

At the risk of getting flamed, I actually like this and will get it. If we ignore the fact that there are a million other movie BB toys, this one actually looks pretty good. Human Alliance Bumblebee is the only BB I own, so adding one more won't be that big of a deal.

I never bought the deluxe ones because I thought they all looked like garbage. HABB looked great in comparison and so does this one. The shoulder missile launchers on this one are a lot better than HABB. I never was into the human aspect of the HA series, but thought the toys were a major step up from the deluxes (except for sideswipe with half of the car on his back in bot mode).

I really do not think this a leader class... Having a $60 price point and the packaging, I am going with Ultimate/Supreme size. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a modified form of Ultimate BB. Probably gutted some electronics for a few more mechanical gimmicks. Everything I see points to this...That's just my opinion.

And I shall have to agree with the majority... ANOTHER BB? I have two from first movie, and I loved them. For ROTF I bought HA BB... Once you get THAT awesome, do you really need more?? If there was going to be another LARGE transformer, I would go for the Fallen. Everybody just needs to give up on the whole Blackout wish... Not going to happen.

Seriously More Megatrons and Primes? Put together, they aren't more than the BB's.

Bumblebee's:

1. Preview BB
2. Cannon BB
3. HA BB
4. Ultimate BB
5. N.E.S.T BB (Redecoed from Preview BB)Coming Soon
6. BB and Soundwave 2 pack BB (Cannon BB redeco) Coming soon.
7. and Special Ops BB
Seven BBs.

Prime:

1.Leader Class
2.Voyager
3.Upcoming Voyager Redeco
4.Buster Prime

Megatron:

1.Leader Class
2.Voyager
3.Upcoming Leader Class Redeco

That's 7 figures for 2 characters against 7 Figures for a single character.

And that's not counting the endless BB's and repaints we got for the first movie. Even accounting for the 4 releases the Voyager Prime got for that movie BB is still outdoes them all.

There are just too many BB toys already.
