Just to clarify, I don't see Siege and Kingdom Magnus figures as the same.
But no would argue that one is a retool of the previous version.
Imo the "ER" version doesn't quality as a heavy retool, so they are very similar.
Especially in overall proportions and appearance.
For me, I'd be open to any figure of a character I like after 9 years. In fact I'd argue 3-4 years is plenty of time passed to make a new mold of a character, especially one that's accepted as relatively popular.
When SS86 Magnus is released, it will have been 2 and a half years since the release of the Kingdom version, and 2 months shy of 5 years since the release of the Siege version.
Even if someone bought both of these previous versions, I would personally say "burnt-out" with the G1 deco of this character is a bit of an overstatement.
If you bought every version of a character, if you're feeling burnt-out, that's by your own choice. But if you're a huge fan of a character, I'd assume there's a moderate degree of happiness with the purchase of each new release. Which seems to be the opposite of burnt-out. And otherwise, what's the point? If you bought just to buy and/or the feeling of acquiring something new, that's also on you.
That's also a horrible collecting habit and waste of money.
I'm one who is unaffected by versions/repaints that don't interest me (which also means I didn't purchase said versions/repaints).
But it doesn't make sense that someone could feel "fatigued" by releases of a character that they didn't buy.
Going back to perspective, it's interesting that SS86 Ratchet is being released just a year after SS86 Ironhide... And no one is complaining.
And Ratchet did get a SG figure whereas Ironhide did not...
So it's just a bit odd that for some reason, literally 1 year seems to be making a difference in the case of Ratchet.
And no worries... No one has any pull on me in terms of what I buy or don't buy.
I'm sure I'll really enjoy this CC Ultra Magnus. Hopefully it's good enough to you that it dissolves your saltiness.

Ah. Got it.Sowndwave76 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:What's this "ER" version separate from Siege and Kingdom?
I was using "ER" so I didn't have to keep typing-out "Kingdom".

Siege 2019
Spoiler Pack 2020
Kingdom 2021
Premium Finish 2021 / 2022
SG 2022
That’s 5 different Magnus release, each of them with something different from the previous one.
Getting a 6th figure in 4 years is a tad much.
Not even Prime has 6 figures in 4 years.
Sowndwave76 wrote:It's also a matter of perspective that someone may want to call Premium Finish UM a different figure...
For me, it's not.
It's the Siege figure with slightly different/altered paint apps.

I have filed my grievance there too, overdoing yet another character.
But Ratchet is a bit more tolerable since his Siege figure was a Walgreens exclusive (i.e. probably the hardest to get), and his ER figure was an Amazon exclusive. Makes it a bit more palatable.

This will be the last post I make about Ultra Magnus "burn-out"...
IF someone bought all of those, then sure, they may not want any other UM figure ever...

I haven't bought TF's since actual G1 days, it wasn't until 2019 when I started getting back into them due to the advancements in articulation/engineering and sculpt. But even I know they are going to reissue or rerelease a character again, possibly slightly improved from the last if not a straight repack in new packaging/refresh. The history of the line says as much. So I don't understand your disbelief that they would revisit said character for different iterations, perhaps them feeling like back to back releases makes it feel like you should have just waited it out. And sometimes in the moment it could feel like this is it, this is the version that most represents the character and it possibly won't be seen again any time soon. This was me with ER Prowl, and the frustration of it being an impossible to get reasonably priced. As well as Dirge & Ramjet. fortunately Hasbro is correcting that for the last two and already has for Ironhide. But at the time we think it will take forever to come back around.
So I wouldn't necessarily put blame of Hasbro for Fans not expecting a future release of a popular character. Heck we see Bumblbee literally everywhere all the time.
I also feel any time a character is an Exclusive it has limit availability to the point they have to address a rerelease at some point, not everyone has a Walgreens, Target, Walmart or whatever it is and getting them online isn't as easy as it should be. Cosmos comes to mind...

It's a fairly important character and every one talks about him even if they don't buy it.
So yes, getting yet another Magnus adds to that Magnus mental load that's been building up.
I can understand feeling tired with the character and the name.

I'm doing my best not to judge this...
But first off, it's not at all legit to state "We've all...".
Part of a previous point was that this "fatigue" isn't necessarily an issue for that many people.
And ".....adds to that Magnus mental load that's been building up."
Wow...
After reading this, I immediately went back to perspective.
I'm 1,000% aware that I'm not into TF as much as the majority of people here. I've stated that multiple times between previous posts outside of this topic.
But even relative to the fact we're talking about toys; this all comes off as a hugely exaggerated overstatement.
I'm really not trying to be an ass when I say this, but if seeing, reading about, and/or talking about TF toys is a source of stress for anyone... If it's built-up that much and is weighing on anyone's mental load...
I get there are multiple ways to finish that thought.
I'd finish that with, "they're taking this too seriously", and maybe even, "how and why do they care that much to where this is weighing on them?". And maybe that's just me.
I'm also aware that people are passionate about this hobby, which is made up of a very, very wide spectrum.
Again, that's part of one my points--
For every person who is that upset or bothered by what they'd consider, "Too many figures of a character in 'x' number of years", there have to be exponentially more who would think about this for 20 seconds, and move on.
If the announcement of SS86 UM bothered anyone because that character's releases from 3, 4, and 9 years ago have been lingering, building-up, and weighing on them... Okay.
Just please have some perspective that that's probably not the general feeling, and shouldn't be stated as though it is;
there are tons of people who are on different points on the collector spectrum, a lot of those towards the opposite end.
Sowndwave76 wrote:Emerje wrote:The difference between Siege Magnus and Premium Finish Magnus are as drastic as the difference between Kingdom Magnus and SG Magnus.
Again, perspective. I've already stated my opinion on the aspect of repaints/retools, so posting photos at this point doesn't add any validity to what I'm disagreeing with.
Also, again, part of my point in all of this is addressing G1 versions, and what I consider legit G1 versions of this character.
For the sake of brevity, imagine this new SS86 UM had that medium-dark gray plastic/paint in every area that is recognized as white... Imagine the overall/majority feedback.
I look at that version and my initial thought is, "Oh, that's a dead version of this guy" (especially the inner bot... Yikes).
Till-all-R1 wrote:The one aspect about UM I like over Motormaster, is the fact his trailer is a part of him. Not an unused accessory taking up space somewhere where I could display another figure.
Sowndwave76 wrote:Slashercon brought up the issue of scale...
I could see this new Magnus being a bit tall (and maybe a bit stout).
I always thought Magnus was substantially taller than OP, but that character scale chart has UM literally a half head taller... My memory of this could be off, but I really thought Magnus was much taller in comparison.
But I agree, if UM is a half to one head taller than Grimlock, I think that will work alright.
Although when you stand Grimlock next to voyager Prime, Prime already looks really small.
If this bot mode is on the "too-large" side, I'm assuming it was to help make the trailer more functional, which is good since that should be a part of this alt mode.
Second, this is a character that I'd rather have too large than too small if the "exact scale" can't be sorted out.

Maybe they had the G1 toy on the brain, since that toy was twice as tall as Optimus.Till-all-R1 wrote:Belay that, I had Rodimus on the brain writing that post. lol
UM has always been taller than Prime but not by a huge margin, and as a kid I never freeze framed the show to do a side by side comparison. and I'm okay with Kingdom height. And I can't believe Hasbro would knowingly make UM as tall as Grimlock.
