Actually, they did, but the changes were nowhere near drastic enough to make him unrecognizable. If anything, the 'scale' pattern, the silver lines, the different spider logos and the shiny eyes added to the already iconic costume.

True, but it didn't stop the Spiderman movies from totally sucking.

Exactly. But those films did have good writing, directing, and (at least some) good acting, though.

I agree on the directing, but then again Sam Rami is awesome.

"Well, it's just, you know, listen, it's like...I didn't want to make the boxy characters, you know? Think about it, 30 feet in the air in the real world, just boxes, you know and it'd just look more fake, you know? And by adding more doo-dads, you know, stuff on the...stuff. Stuff on the robots, more car parts, and...you know you can just make it look more real."- Micheal Bay.
To all the Bay fans this is who you follow? This is the man you respect? If you honestly think TF will be a good movie because of Bay Intelligent movie making decisions you have my condolences and I have some beach front property in Arkansas to sell you.

He may not know the tech terms or even sound all that "smart" but it is not untrue what he says in my opinion. I would not want to see big squares of robot in a full length live action feature film

How do you get from "no big squares" to "so damn busy you can't tell what's supposed to be what and looking like a truck full of electronics pieces got mangled by a train and glued to a Terminator endoskeleton"?

By ignoring 20+ years of history?

Or by writing your own version of events and not being suckered into catering to everyones whim of what the perfect transformer design is.

Chris™ wrote:Like I said. "by not giving into what everyones idea of a perfect transformer is."
Raimi and mario bros. are becoming old arguments for "how to do a property right or wrong" Yeah spidey's suit looks close to the "original" and goomba's arent just a head with feet. As its been stated it has been changed but it is still recognizable. As I beleive these new bots are for the most part.
Chris™ wrote:Everyone has a different version of the perfect optimus for example. To some it's G1, to others it Armada, and to some its Primal. We all like different things thats define prime and the other bots. To me these "bots" have it and to others they don't. Its does not ignore or negate 20 years of history by simply making a new interpretation. You(Generalization) may only like G1 prime while me and 300 other people like new prime. It does not make either of us wrong because we like different primes.

Haven't we already gone through this exact same point of argument once already in this thread, except it was a yellow Spider-Man?

Well, yeah, him too, because everyone hates him due to the fact that he completely embodies the problem that most of the designs have an ample supply of.
