Actually, they did, but the changes were nowhere near drastic enough to make him unrecognizable. If anything, the 'scale' pattern, the silver lines, the different spider logos and the shiny eyes added to the already iconic costume.

True, but it didn't stop the Spiderman movies from totally sucking.

Exactly. But those films did have good writing, directing, and (at least some) good acting, though.

I agree on the directing, but then again Sam Rami is awesome.

I know this topic with 29 pages has been neat to death but I saw this and had to post this

"Well, it's just, you know, listen, it's like...I didn't want to make the boxy characters, you know? Think about it, 30 feet in the air in the real world, just boxes, you know and it'd just look more fake, you know? And by adding more doo-dads, you know, stuff on the...stuff. Stuff on the robots, more car parts, and...you know you can just make it look more real."- Micheal Bay.

To all the Bay fans this is who you follow? This is the man you respect? If you honestly think TF will be a good movie because of Bay Intelligent movie making decisions you have my condolences and I have some beach front property in Arkansas to sell you.

Raimi's idea to give Spider-Man a Lime Green/Hot Pink jumpsuit with no mask but an afro and motorcycle instead was a great one. He was instantly recognizable, just as the PR guys said he would be.

Like I said. "by not giving into what everyones idea of a perfect transformer is."

Raimi and mario bros. are becoming old arguments for "how to do a property right or wrong" Yeah spidey's suit looks close to the "original" and goomba's arent just a head with feet. As its been stated it has been changed but it is still recognizable. As I beleive these new bots are for the most part.

Everyone has a different version of the perfect optimus for example. To some it's G1, to others it Armada, and to some its Primal. We all like different things thats define prime and the other bots. To me these "bots" have it and to others they don't. Its does not ignore or negate 20 years of history by simply making a new interpretation. You(Generalization) may only like G1 prime while me and 300 other people like new prime. It does not make either of us wrong because we like different primes.

Old arguments that in this case are still perfectly valid. When the publicity shots of the Super Mario Bros. movie came out, people recognized that as a goomba and the little T-Rex as a yoshi. They were recognizable, but they weren't what the vast majority of the audience wanted. Same with the Godzilla film. Could they have made them closer to the originals? Certainly. Humanoid funguses have been a staple of fantasy and sci-fi for decades, and making Bowser and the koopa troopers humanoid turtles instead of humanoid dinosaurs wouldn't have been an impossible change. The people making the film just didn't want to because God forbid that they should "give in" and give the people who made the franchise such a hot property in the first place what they want.

With the exception of Megatron, Starscream, and Bumblebee's head, which are complete cases of WTF, I generally do like the new designs... at least in the concept art and the figures. The renders, however, look waaaay too busy and I can think of absolutely no reason why it would be necessary. What I don't get is how you go from not wanting something to be 'boxy' to looking completely mangled. Look at the new renders. Starscream has pointy bits coming off the joints in his fingers, Ironhide's legs and torso are so screwy you can't tell what direction anything below his chest is supposed to be facing. Now look at Jazz... see how clean the angles are and un-twisted everything is? He looks like a humanoid skeleton with a car shell for armor plating. Now guess which one of those redesigns, judging by comments, seems to be the least divisive?

ok, thats called typing in the heat of battle, and is excusable...if typing were a symbol of intelligence then Alfred Einstien would be considered a Moron, he couldn't type to save his life...Your Logic, as always, is flawed and meant to convey some sort of "higher intelligence", which is funny because it just seems to continually unravel...

I just feel bad for him and Skorponok. People are obviously going to compare them to the G1 namesakes in spite of the fact that they're just cannon fodder. Which is probably true of Blackout, Bonecrusher, and Barricade, too, but at least they don't have to live-up to any expectations. Plus, their toy representations manage to suck even worse than the Megatron figures.

It's all good. I just find that amusing on any message board when it happens; it wasn't meant to be personal. I will agree that you're post was much more coherent than whatever Bay was trying to say.

Also, drunk posts are usually the most fun posts to read. ;)
