I was not impressed.

Comics are suppose to have different characters aren't they? Aside from Megatron it was hard to identify any of them because they all looked virtually the same!

Cybertron is now populated by generic looking robots and only the big wigs look different?

1 issue down ... 3 to go. It had want to get better.

I also wondered why all the supporting cast looked so similar.

It was an okay issue. It wasn't as bad as anything DW did, praise be. The movie designs do lack a cedrtain charm, though, and Arcee reminded me of BM Rattrap.

That's part of my point. The fact that you had to turn it into a personal attack. Doesn't say great things about your character.

I also find it interesting that you admit to deceit, considering that you like to try and contribute to news on websites. Most news personnel attempt to portray unfaltering integrity and honesty. Why would people believe your news and comments if you admit you deceive?

heh. dont point the blame at don or anything

we were just workin with what hasbro tells us and as far as pre-earth/protoforms go, all the Transformers look relatively alike. but not without subtle differences of course

Its just like us humans. We're all the same yet different in subtle ways.

Personally i dont mind so much i guess for that reason.

i've never complained to God "man...whyd you make everybody look the same? thats stupid. i cant tell who anybody is" :P

but anyways

stick around for issue 2. thats where it gets really good xD

No thanks. I actually threw up my lunch when I saw what Arcee became and I don't want any more suprises.

Maybe so but you can definitely tell the difference between males and females.

And as far as TF history goes, Arcee has always been "female", assuming Arcee is suppose to be "female" in this book she barely looks any different to any of the other bots.

It was an individual bots look that made them the characters who they were, even on Cybertron they were different, but this ... this just seems like a lumping together of generic looking bots.

And if you say it's what Hasbro said they wanted ... that sounds like a serious cop out on Hasbro's part. :?

who's to say theres anything remotely close to "genders" as far as the TF race goes? especially in this universe anyways

but yeah. Keeping a similar aesthetic for pre-earth robots was something we had to do. Hasbro seems pretty bent on keeping a kind of visual continuity [which is quite understandable]

to prove it the whole first issue actually had bumblebee drawn in a VERY different way than what you guys see

We were told to change that to keep in accordance with the aesthetic established in the movie

[bumblebee was once yellow and arcee had a bit of pink in her as well. but we had to change that too]

but things really do get better in issue 2

personally i dont much care for how the first issue came out. a bit dark and very monochrome. plus i may be a little bitter because of all the hassle we had to go through :P

but yeah. do give it a chance. the other 3 issues almost feel like a completely different series

So Hasbro have basically said "hey you know how we've had 20 odd years of our characters looking unique regardless of what planet they're on? Yeah, forget that. They only get unique when they leave Cybertron". ?

I'll give the next three issues a go, but as someone who's been a pro-movie supporter from the beginning, this first issue came close to swaying me to the other side.

Oh and thanks for popping in like you do Josh. Much appreciated!

I'm just amazed we haven't heard anything about women crawling behind the wallpaper yet.

Yeah, the lack of pronouns for Arcee is interesting and possibly significant -- although if these aren't just placeholders for the eventual names to be used on toys, it isn't because Hasbro are trying to avoid bringing robot gender into the movie universe.

Care to take a guess at whether that was Ryall or Furman, Grimmers?
