Shaki Jaki's Toy Shack
Re: Shaki Jaki's Toy Shack
Yup, refurbs for the win, especially when they come with a warranty. We have a few rando refurbs here and there.

My 1st gen intel Mac Book Pro was my main work horse for a good 7 to eight years before it was consumed by obsoletion. $1500 for a $3500 computer. We saw some good times together.

Yeah I'm still pretty high on Surgio. And like, I get the complaints about his complexity, but it just didn't strike me as being as bad as everyone's saying. Aside from two steps, I figured him out sans help. So I dunno, he might be a fine line between amazingly engineered and amazingly irritating, but I was more impressed than annoyed. *shrug*Ironhidensh wrote:So hey, you still high on Surgio? I've watched and read a few reviews that have me concerned. They say bot and alt mode are see inspiring, but getting from one to the other is a birch and a half.
I'm not terribly concerned about Luke's value since I don't intend to ever sell him. I researched before buying and I knew it was a common issue, but the seller listed it as still sealed and good. And I totally busted out the X-Wing, but I'm on my late shift and don't have a lot of time to myself at night. I'll try and get some up tonight.carytheone wrote:Sorry no help on the glue, I wouldn't even know where to begin when value is to be considered.
I wouldn't mind a closer look at that x-wing if it ever leaves it's box.
Dreadwingding has a new head sculpt! But the Jetfire helmet only kinda loosely fits on there.Cobotron wrote:Neat Shtar Warsh schtuff! Does that Dreadeing(?)(crap! I forgot who already) have a unique head?
Damn! I never even thought of that.... I wonder what a refurb'd 6 would cost? I think it's time to call my local iStore...Frugal-Tron wrote:*Refurbs* Just some iFood for thought.

Hey Jak, I've been giving the glue question some thought. I would think that a spray adhesive would be the best option for appearance and adhesion. But the problem is you would have to do some crazy taping to keep the glue from going all over the blister, and then you would have to move like lightening to get in place and stuck.
That's a real hard one man.
If you can live with it, I would maybe leave it be.

Re: Shaki Jaki's Toy Shack
Spray adhesive is not a bad idea, I would think something that can go on light and be kinda rubbery would work.
Is that plastic on card stock?
Maybe some rubber cement, you could always mix some up with a little solvent to thin it and dab it on with a sponge brush.
Maybe some clear two part epoxy. Just a few dabs here and there should work.
Three things to consider:
Will it yellow with age?
Will it make the ink on the card run?
Will it melt the plastic?
I personally would just leave it if you could. Actually I would open that bad boy up and play with it!

Lil update to Jaki'life: I bought a Galaxy s6. With a 2 year plan and bundling with my home internet, it only cost me 110 Canadian Dollery-doo's. I bought it purely because it was the cheapest/best option. I kinda hate it, but I'm not good with change.
So I've been spending a fair amount of time screwin around with that.
GLUE. Y'all know I'm a big advocate for openin things up, but this Theatre Luke is one of my special cases. The packaging is everything, so I want to seal him back up. Besides I already have an open POTF Jedi Luke somewhere. But the melting and the yellowing are things I hadent even considered... which terrifies me.
A quick Google search brought up this TFW2000 thread, which basically just says to use watered down Elmers... I might try it this weekend if no one else has better suggestions!

Yes! Much more nicer better pics, indeed.
That little X-wing looks cool. so much nice detail for such a tiny little model.
As a kid, the only 3 3/4 X-wing I had was the dirty Dagobah version. I loved that thing. I remember that Xmas morning like it was yesterday.
(also remember my Dad grumbling and groaning as he applied the stickers.
)
Dreads head looks good. Love that color scheme.

Oh yeah! I forgot to tell y'all. I called up my local iStore and they said they don't sell refurb'd iPhones. They have them, but they're reserved for warranty returns or something.
S'ok though. This is a great phone for the price and I'm getting used to it.

Today's haul, my MP13B coin finally arrived and after special ordering from HMV, the long awaited Evangelion 3.33 Bluray!

But now on to bweeznes: my main man Cobs-topation inspired me to get off my ass and to the couple DIY projects that have been floating around in my head. First off, YOTG Soundwave. His solid red eyepiece behind his clear skull has bothered me since day one. Cover up! Here's the before pics:

Project #2 is the MP Red Bee. He needs a friggin face plate. So I got a couple Amazon platey's (in case I ruin one) intended for Yellow Bee and I'ma paint that yellow chunk red. Updates when I'm done!

Dur. I was going to do a play by play but spacedCobotron wrote:I would like to know the what, where, when, and how?

There's actually not a lot to tell though. First I bought these:

The white was for the base coat. At first I didn't use any on the SW eyes cause I thought the silver was thick enough, not so much. I actually bought the silver paint like a year ago (does paint go bad?) and I shook the hell out of it but it didn't "perform" the way I'd hoped. So I cleaned it off and base coat white'd it, then did the same for the Bee mask. And hour later I applied the red and silver, an hour after that I touched up and cleaned up, then done deal!
I think I'll tackle my Star Wars figure tonight, but in the mean time I got Diaclone happy

OOOOOOOOOoooooooooohhh! You painted Goatwave's brain. I thought you cut it out!
Now when I look back I can see the chrome dome inside. Super cool! I like that even better because now there is some substance inside. Well done old chap! Well done indeed!
Paint go bad? Latex paint can rot. Acrylic, and oil based paints (i.e. Ennamel) can last for a long time as long as it is very well sealed. Primer or base coats are always a good idea, especially when applied to plastic, and/or dealing with metallic paints.
Love your Diaclone shot! Except...
YOU FORGOT BLUE BLUESTREAK!!
What will the neighbors think?

Where is everyone!
Well, Cobs is still my pal
So I tried the watered down Elmers, and NOPE. When it was watered down enough to not be overpoweringly white, it was too weak. I made it stronger, and it was too white. So back to the drawing board
I changed up my MP display. It was getting too crowded so its now Ark bots only!

If YOtG SW went on like a 40 to 80 USD sale on TRU like YOTG stuff a lot of times does, I would've probably gotten it. I just can't afford it for 100 USD though right now.

I'm here for you buddy.
Sorry the glue didn't work. They make clear Elmers. Also, I just thought of this stuff called Duco Cement.I use it to glue the fletching and nocks on my arrows. (thats feathers and bow string end tips, for you non-fletchers
). It's clear and drys clear. It is really viscus and doesn't clump. It's strong stuff. Probably find it at craft and/or hobby shop.
Display looks GREAT!
Ol' Ironsides fits right in there. As does Surgio. Love that action pose you have Swipe in, and also love the disco pose for Bee.
Edit: It was kind of a ghost town today. Nobody seemed all that interested in my Lambo/Lancia speed skates.
