So last summer my friend and now former roommate got fed up with his Xbox locking up on him all the time so he went to toys R Us and dropped another $400 on a new one. He then took the old one apart just for the hell of it to see whats inside. He ended up giving me the remains and I put it back together, hooked it up, played it for a half hour with no issues. I then took it apart again today to put some arctic silver on the CPU and GPU just to make sure the thing wouldn't lock up. Things went smooth until I got to the Xclamps: I didn't know what to do! I searched on youtube and found a video of some guy just sticking a screwdriver underneath them and popping them off. So I tried the same thing, and it worked, but one time I slipped and scraped the motherboard. I knew that was probably the death of the 360 right there. Needless to say I went ahead and proceeded with applying arctic silver, and reassembly. I hooked it back up, pushed the power button and.... red ring of death
Its dead
Not a big deal but I am a little aggravated. I mean I want to get a PS3 and I could care less about a 360, but still it was a free next gen system that I screwed up, and as of now I can't afford a PS3.
oh well, guess I'll just have to sit around and play with my Wii until I can afford a PS3
