If it's not legit, it's at least a pretty decent script treatment. Just finished reading it, and I liked what I read. I'm kind of crossing my fingers and hoping it's legit.

I don't know how happy I am with them rolling into production so fast. As a Transformers fan, it's cool, because there's going that means the TFs are going to get more mainstream press and the buzz won't get a chance to die off. As someone who wants more than what the first film gave, faster production means some of the flaws of the first rearing their ugly heads. I'm not expecting a Great American classic, but "Big f'n robots beating the sh*t out of each other..." isn't going to do it alone.

As far as who should be in it, I honestly don't care about the Dinobots as a whole, as much as I want to see Grimlock. He's just a great character, and I think having a loose cannon like that on the Autobot's side would add a great element to the flick. Although I think his T-Rex alt mode would be a little silly in the film, it's also iconic. I could actually see him starting off in his "War Within" look, and then finding the T-Rex to be more of his style, then proceeding to pound the crap out of the Decepticons. I'd love to see the Seekers, but wouldn't thrilled to see other Ape-Planes running about.

Good or bad, it's going to be another interesting year/year and a half in TF Movie-land, that's for sure.

Ok, brand new member, first post but here goes: Ok, tell me if this is a crap idea or not. Since, at the end of the first film, Prime called out to all Transformers out there, the DinoBots can be on a Jungle Planet with Dinosaur type creatures and when they come to earth, they can keep their organic forms. Also, have them combine into a Gestalt like Devastator but when they go in to that form, they lose the organic skin and are all metal, or not, whichever would look best. Also, the Decepticons could have the Constructicons arrive from another planet and choose to take an Earth form and have construction vehicles. Big, climactic battle at the end of the movie with the dinobots gestalt and devastator.

Without downloading it for myself it's probably a safe bet that it's nothing more than a fanfic that got Don Murphy's panties in a bunch the other day.

the thing i keep hearing is how silly the dinobots being dinosaurs would be, but not really, the allspark had supposedly landed on earth around the time of the dinosaurs, or even before, why couldn't grimlock and co. come to earth to find the allspark, scanned dinosaurs, and then through some catastrophy been put into stasis lock until someone finds them, or they hear primes message at the end of the first movie, or maybe something else? the dinobots should be dinosaurs, and not beast wars style, g1 style. we all know they can do it, the sector 7 videos proved it (grimlock in g1 dino form running through the city?) as for anything else i was skeptical of all the "bayformers" until i saw them on the screen, they definately changed my mind, and i think they'll only get better. also ratchet should get his "rescue ratchet" colors for the second film, that green is hideous.

I know it's only a barebones outline, but it's full of conveniences masquerading as plot devices. Fleshed out with some decent narrative, dialogue and action it could work but it doesn't seem like an intelligent progression. Rather the first movie in some flashy new threads.

That said I am liking the idea of mirroring Prime's opening and closing monologues with something similar from Starcream.

Alas still no Dinobots though.

Even then, I think most fans would be happy with (or in my case, would prefer) just having Grimlock, and he could be a vehicle just like everyone else. Yeah thats a good point, I really loved War Within Grimlock and his "Lightning Strike Coalition". His tank mode was awesome, and they gave him intelligence, just a messed up voice unit that made him say things like "Me" before every sentence

They might go the RiD route since alot of the Contruction team had Dinobot names

There ya go Thats a damn spiffy way to look at it.... if you want that realism movie deal that Bay keeps trying to hammer even though nothing about the movie was realistic....anyways wheeljack and the other bots could still build them in the flick....that would still hold up as well...but your Idea kicks ass none the less

Damn those handsome writers and they're puppy dog eyes! I'm starting to regret being so harsh about the alledged treatment.

I guess it helps to think of these movies as elongated episodes of a G1 reboot. I still think certain elements are incredibly contrived and convenient, but with the possibility of movies to follow this, narrative and intellectual depth are things to be considered when looking at the bigger picture (comprised of many motion pictures).

In reflection, again if the treatment is real, this will be a very Decepticon picture cast very much in the mould of Empire Strikes Back, you know that whole looming brooding darkness and a sense of hope being lost. As such I feel it will be quite satisfying when brought to the big screen.

Narratively speaking, I guess the Dinobots are being left for the third picture, like the Ewoks in Jedi only fewer in number, meaner, but equally as cute and cuddly. Personally though I feel they should be in this movie rather than the somewhat cheesy arrival of certain characters in a blatent rehash of the first film?

With regards to human leads. I'm counting about 3 main leads, with a 4th supporting in that kind of:

So, and maybe I'm repeating myself, if this treatment is legit, and Don throwing a hissy may add weight to that, it's not the most intellectual(ly challenging) follow up. We are however talking Hollywood, where the main premise is filling seats not heads.

And guess what? It technically is legit.

Meaning it was written by Kruger (apparently his initials weren't covered on one of the pages, letting the cat out of the bag) and turned in, but they won't be using it for the film apparently. So it's legit, and it's not a fanfic, but it's not going to be TF2.

I didn't interpret this as being a script that was coming out so soon. The way Spielberg put it, my thought was that they were just getting the STORY line completed (i.e story boards), and the script would THEN start to be worked on (assuming no writer's strik), so I don't think it's really going to be a question of rushing too fast on the script.

Yes... everyone loves Atcee.

But it is true, time does not always equal quality. Films like Spider-man 3 and Jurassic Park 2 were in production for years and years, and they turned out like crap. Other movies like Spider-man 2 (and other films I can't think of right now) were filmed in just under two years, and ended up being great!

I voted for Mirage, but I wouldn't mind seeing Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, Skywarp and Thundercracker (or a certain silver Autobot... Alas, pipedreams.)
