With all the bad reviews it is getting, it might lose to Cars 3 at the domestic box office.

Bad reviews don't really mean bad money intake. I think the previous movies with the low ratings show that, and I am sure there are some other poorly received movies that maid a great income too (someone can add one if they know it)

critics have hated these films from day one so i wouldnt base its sucess of failour on their noise.

look at the 16% its getting from them on rotten tomatoes for instance.

its par the course for what all of em got.

whats interesting is its got the highest audience score since the first one. seeing as theyre actually paying to see it and are likely to spread word of mouth it looks good to me for it to repeat AOE's preformance.

or in other words itll take in a billion world wide. IMO anyway.

This movie is having the same effect on me that Rogue One had last year. The more I think about it, the angrier I get, because I could have done a better job writing the movie. So much wasted potential gone forever. I wish they had taken the TF1 approach and followed 3 subplots that were interconnected to a larger story. In TF1, we followed Sam, Lennox, and the hackers. With TLK we could have followed Optimus on Cybertron, Cade's summoning to England with Bumblebee and Hot Rod being pursued by Megatron and Barricade. And Izabella and the Autobots left on the junkyard, having to deal with the rest of the Decepticons if they hadn't gotten killed off so damn early.

I don't think it's Bay's fault, not by a long shot, that this movie disappointed me the way it did. It's the producers who wanted to push so many story elements at one time that the movie couldn't focus on a single one of them.

My favorite characters are Edmund Burton and Cogman. Hopefully Cogman will be back for the next film. Also I really hope Bee's movie will show what he did in the war and will have Hot Rod as a supporting character at least.

I thought the whole point of the Bee vs Optimus fight was the show us exactly that. He goes ape on Prime with that hammer.

See, I think the opposite. that little bit of exposition from Burton can perfectly set up the Bee movie. Being set after the war in the 80's, it could be along the lines that Bee actually landed on Earth much earlier than we anticipated tracking the allspark and Megatron, and he is just angry and not a nice guy because he lost his voice, maybe actually named in-movie as Megatron's work. Then comes his world war II stuff, showing us that. And then, in the 1980's, the events of the film help set up his "redemption" so to speak, and the film basically goes from the small scout who was angry at losing his voice to the kind human-friendly character that he has become

Or Bumblebee could lose his voice in the Bee movie and he's a big jerk before he mellowed out between the event of the movie and the 2007 movie.

They never say "when" he lost his voice in the movies only that it was lost during battle according to Ratchet.

While I still like this film quite a bit and more so then most of Aoe and the second half of ROTF I do agree that this film like all the others could have been handled better Fan fic rewrite incoming!!!

Edit: I'll just make my own thread for it in the Live action film forum because it's longer then I want it to be in writing but that just means there is plenty to change.

Oh it was pretty much the messiest of the movies in term of plot that I agree with.

I still enjoyed the movie a lot and I appreciate all the good parts such as the stuff in the Junkyard which I love although I wish that Excavator guy was around in more scenes even if he said no lines because as it is he's just a waste of resources on the Cgi budget that could of gone to Cogman's cut headmaster scenes or more Decepticon stuff.

Now that I think about it like Barricade Cogman also disappears after Stonehedge although I can understand why if he's just there to mourn for Edmund unlike Barricade's simple problem of not being able to fly like Megatron and Nitro.

I won't be so sure about that. It has the lowest opening ever, but by some luck it could do well the first week. But it will drop like flies in the second, believe me. It won't make a billion this time. People have managed to see behind the curtain of bad movie making of Bay. It's time this franchise crashes and burns, so we can get a PROPER Transformers movie. I hope it makes top 600 million.
Before people talking about the China market, you have to remember that the chinese takes 75% of the ticket sales. So TLK is already flopping in the state and the rest of the world can't save it this time.

I wonder if the Combaticons will ever make it on screen, and if so, will the tow truck they called Onslaught in TLK will get a new name, just like the tank "Devastator" did after RoTF had an actual Devastator in it. Speaking of Onslaught, what a waste of a character. He didn't even do anything. None of them did. Why did Megatron deal for their release? They were supposed to be total badasses.

TLK portrayal of the cons must be the worse in the series. Hell, even Shockwave in DOTM had more presence and more threatening than all the cons together in TLK.

Why should the Combaticons get on the screen anymore then all the others people clamor for even though their going to get angry due to not matching with their nostalgia just like with Hot Rod.

Besides Swindle most of them are dull and lack personality in other continuities including the original tv show you think their going to get any more personality in a 2 hour movie that their not even going to be on screen for the whole time?

Talked a few seconds like street thugs and get blown to pieces. Besides Barricade, Megatron and Nitro, there were nothing to brag about. The cons was wasted in this movie. More than ever.

The screen writer even owned up to their embarassement of what they saw onscreen:

Kurtzman: It’s really hard for us to sit here and try to justify it. I think that would be very foolish, and if someone wants to be offended by it, it’s their right. We were very surprised when we saw it, too, and it’s a choice that was made. If anything, it just shows you that we don’t control every aspect of the movie.

Its cool if you are not offended. I wasnt offended, just annoyed at the use of annoying earth based charicatures for alien robots (doesnt matter if Nitro was acting like a gangster or a celebrity, both are annoying charicatures). But I was curious as to how skids and mudflap had people reacting, when Nitro Zeus doesnt. I personally found all these characters annoying, Mowhawk included.
