Looks like I did the right thing, Amazon just sent me a notice saying my Perceptor will be here next week. Patience rewarded.

My Perceptor from Gamestop just showed up in the mail. Gotta work 12 hours so I won't get it until 10 or so this evening.

Amazon has Perceptor now arriving between March 9th and 19th.

I also put Sludge on preorder... Although I hope to find him at Target well before he ships-- with tax he's going to cost $60.88 (and that's with free shipping)...
From Target with my RedCard he'd be right around $53.

Does anyone in your house shop as Kohl's regularly? If so, play the return game if the Amazon one ships and you find it at Target later for a better price. The reason I say Kohl's is that they have an Amazon return desk inside and when you make a return, they typically give you a 25% off your purchase coupon for Kohl's. My wife gladly makes the returns for me and then uses the coupon, win-win!

I just did that just before Christmas when Pulse had Slammer in stock, so I ordered but couldn't cancel my Amazon order because it shipped at the same time. As long as the Amazon return window is open, I'll buy any figure I have in store at a better price and just return it to Amazon via Kohl's.

FYI, Amazon doesn't always give you a Khols return option and they won't budge on that. I've had several fights with them over that.

Looks good. Can't wait to get mine. With my recent Blaster purchase, my TF:TM crew will be complete, sans the yet-to-be-released Dinobots.

Now if Hasbro would kindly indulge us G1 comic fans and get us a blue version through Selects...

Thanks for the heads-up.
Even if I can't get some sort of Kohl's discount, if I find Sludge after the fact at Target, I'll still return the one from Amazon... Kohl's is literally 2 stores down from Target.
And that $7 will most definitely go towards another figure at some point!
Thanks again!

Also, in case anyone is interested, my Target did have one Hot Rod in the new box...
If you missed out on him and are looking, now's the time to start keeping an eye out.

My Coronation Starscream arrived today. I have to say that I'm rather impressed with the quality control on this latest release, especially considering how many uses we've already have of the Earthrise Starscream mold in the past two years. The joints are all nice and stiff, the paint work is very crisp, and the plastic feels solid, substantial, and sturdy. I'm very pleased with my purchase. :)

I recently saw the Junkyard pre-order. Since we've already discussed the Junkion redeco/retool rabbit hole this opens up in the '86 line. It got me thinking if we'll see this redeco:

Image

Armada

Now considering he was in The Movie. They could go the Sweeps route and re-release a Cyclonus in a different shade of purple.

Or one of the other paint jobs....

Its one of the few SS-86 figures to not have received a repaint or retool yet. Along Hot-Rod and Grimlock.

I'd be down for a dark purple G1 toy deco for Cyclonus, a Blue G2 Grimlock and I guess a toon accurate Hot-Rod. Magenta and light blue solid windshield ala BB Cliffjumper.

A friend of mine, who adores SS Hot Rod, was hopeful to see him in his original colour scheme, in this line.

Technically Cyclonus is Kingdom and not SS86, which may be why the armada repaint is in Selects. Hot Rod is getting a retool/redeco as Override in the Walmart Velocitron line and there was a rumored variant a while back.

G2 Grimlock could open up a pandora's box for Hasbro, especially at the new pricing for leader figures. Make just Grimlock and some fans will be upset at not getting the full set. Make them all and the least popular are going to be hard to sell.

Pretty sure that turned out to be the Hot Rod rerelease that accompanied BB Soundwave with the variance being the new packaging.

True, though he was definitely meant for SS-86. I mean he's an important part of the movie.

There's an Armada repaint in Selects?

Override... right forgot about that. We'll see what that looks like.

Maybe. Are there fans out there clamoring for green Slag and red Snarl? Both of which also got a regular silver and gold release for G2 before the spiffy G2 colors. And well, a single usage of the Grimlock and Snarl molds seems like a waste of resources. Hasbro is not one to pass up the opportunity of selling the same toy again in different colors and make some more money off of it.

I'd expect those molds would be the ones needing more releases to make back their development budget.

I don't know about others clamoring, but I would definitely get a set of G2 leader Dinobots if they were released piecemeal like the SS figures are. 1 every 6 months would definitely be acceptable. That way I might actually get a red version of Swoop.

I'm already double-dipping on the Dinobots, so I don't know if I'd go for G2 versions.
But I brought this idea up before and love it.
By the time is ever happens I'm sure they'd be $60-$65 per... Which is another reason I don't know if I'd get them.
Those would be awesome though, and I'd probably try and get them.

However, I could see these being the only ones that don't get repaints/retools.

For the leader Dinobots, I've had a theory that they were one of the main reasons to create the SS86 subline. If you look at Studio Series prior to SS86 one of the main differences between SS and WFC was that just about every single WFC mold gets re-used at least once, and SS was only about 50% overall with very few leaders being re-used. Pretty much Blackout/Grindor and a Voyager Prime remold with an added trailer. Every other leader mold is unique aside from some parts sharing between a voyager Megs and Leader Shockwave. Leader Dinobots with limited re-use potential fit better into whatever Hasbro's internal repaint/remold economics are in SS than they did for WFC.

I finally decided to get SS86 Hot Rod. Only really got him because I needed something to ship my TFsource stack for free shipping. He's pretty good. I like him. His shoulders really annoy me, and I hate that the Matrix and effect have no where to go whatsoever, but he's still pretty good. I get a majority of the hype for him.
