well if Mkall has followed my maths, strafe should pump out about the same damage as ram on average with comparable feeders, IF the sides have equal numbers,

while it will make 100% strafe alot rarer it will also mean you can build viable strafers at lower levels



and the reason Ram does that is becuase of it's stun affect, which i asked Mkall to remove (my entire suggestion is here) which i hope he does it's been too powerful for too long

the goal here people is to make them equal, but still retain their individual advantages in different situations

Let's not misquote now.
I never said anything was impossible. I said any changes made to this system is a horribly overcomplicated mess because alot of the logic is poorly designed and a good portion of it is broken. Every programmer that has worked on HMW has pretty much said the same thing.

I am not spending any more of my time messing with the current HMW so that's really all I have to say about any of this. Mkall has been working hard to mess with some things in the game and when he is ready we will roll it out.

This is not my intention by the way, but I have to ask, will the new tactics also mean a balance in xp scoring for the old ones, for example, will each alt have 2 tactics, and will the common cost be 1000xp for primary tactic, and 4000xp for secondary? I only ask because it irks me seeing arachnids only having Avoid, At base 4000XP!

Other than that, the new tactics will really add a new angle of challenge to the game, can't wait to see what will happen with them!

Since it's no longer a secret, I may as well post the list here for all to see.

Absorb: Drain your foe of strength to replenish your own

Blast: Attack your foe with a single, well aimed shot

Control Waves: Use special waves to cause chaos on the battlefield

well I don't think possession will balance at all if it works like the quint's version, and how do you make xp of it? does your puppet's attacks add to your xp total? if so do they also add to their xp total? how does it work in the arena?

is control waves the strafe version of this? can't we call it Disruptor waves for that G1 feeling?

likewise is Harass going to be just a new name for stun in a seperate tactic? coz that would be pretty poopy for the same reason weapon recharge rates can't be nicely balanced

Slash seems nice, though it would be nice if it had a counter tactic that crippled the power of NTAs aswell, though hows it gonna work? isn't it going to be nigh useless at lower levels and downright crippling at highlevels?

I have taken into account situations where there is only one enemy, everything else will have to be learned when I roll them out.

Nope, there is no strafe version of possession, turning all enemies into friends leaves no enemies, and thus makes no sense.

NTA? Don't remember that acronym. As for slash being more powerful; maybe, maybe not. There is more to some of these tactics that are in the description.

Non-Tactic Attack

Kick punches and weapons, the stuff that hits against armour

what i meant was that at low levels hardly TFs hardly have any armour, and it's usually of the weaker kind, meaing that stripping it off isn't going render much of an advantage, whereas at the high levels having 10 tonnes of electrum torn away is going to leave you wide open to be killed in just a couple of hits.

Weapon: Energy Shurikens
To me it sounds like Control Waves will possibly either, jam frequencies and/or weapons, rendering weapons dead for half the battle, or perhaps sorta like a big bomb, that can possibly damage both enemies and allies.

Harass sounds like a three hit combo and leaves the oppenment with little yellow cartoon stars above their head, and when they try to attack afterwards, they either miss or accidently hit a team mate maybe.

I like the sound of Slam though, sounds like a good one to me. Although, and highly doubtful, it would be scary to see that and Strafe as dual tatics for an alt, i sure wouldnt want to run into that mother on the battlefield, haha.

yes, I know these are different tactics than the ones planned for v2, it just seems like the current HMW is being upgraded piece by piece, not that that's a bad thing!

I was kinda veiwing it from the mmo perspective. Like it would be used to keep you enemies attacking the same target leaving your teamates free to deal out the carnage. Take a mech with heavy armor, high endurence and combine it with harass and absorb tactics and you've got a mech that can take a lot of punishment so the rest of your team dosent have too.

I really like the sound of these new tactics because it seems like we will have several different classes and many new stratigies as far as builds go.

It could force people to pay more attention to which bots they put in which missions.
