That stand that he's on looks like it could be the detachable stock accessory. Yeah?
Maybe combined with the silencer/barrel piece?

I believe he drew it from scratch.

Yeah, that does seem like the stock extension now that you mention it.

I would love for this to be real... I've wanted a MP Megatron to stand next to MP Soundwave.
And then I would definitely get MP Shockwave. Those 3 together on a shelf...  :APPLAUSE:

I will say I agree the head looks a little too large... Which for me a big deal because it just makes the almost everything else look too small.
But if the face sculpt is on point, I would most likely get this.

Maybe it hides inside the gun's body.

Megatron wasn't exactly Mr. Macho in the cartoon:

(NOTE: Fan digibash, not mine)

The proportions look pretty close to the onscreen model, closer than any 3rd party attempt I've ever seen. Despotron, Mightron, and Apollyon all look too chunky and bulky. G1 Megatron's look was more streamlined than any of them.

Couldnt agree more. Im really starting to wonder about some of these 3rd party praises over the Takara models. This (possible) Megatron, Ironhide/Ratchet, Shockwave really comes to mind.

They have inside info on what Takara is going to do. Now that many of the more well known unlicensed product brands have their own MP style ecosystems, they rush and try to get their own product out before the official piece is announced. That's basically all there is to it and why you see these spurts of the same character in the same style being announced by multiple brands.

Anyhow, if this is legit, neat! I need to get that 5G at some point here.

If that is indeed the case, a Takara Trailbreaker maybe next after Grapple.

I realized the other day that Trailbreaker/Hoist are the last 2-for-1 mold left in the '84-'85 roster. After them, all that's left are unique characters that have no retool/repaint opportunities within the fiction itself. That said, I'm not sure if that makes them more or less likely to be next.

Jazz/Stepper Blaster/Broadcast

2-in-1 in this case means "with alternate heads and parts". Both Blaster and Jazz were indeed retooled for The Headmasters as Twincast and Stepper respectively, but the molds themselves were hardly changed.

with that, we're forgetting one: Skids & Crosscut.

I prefer a tank over a gun any day. A Megatron with both modes though would be awesome.

Simply down to preference. To a degree, for me, the overly toon accurate factor that Masterpiece has recently become just does not work for me.

Hellfire looks miles better than Inferno due to dripping with detail. Grapple actually looks better than Inferno as he has a bit more detail and it makes all the difference.

Quakewave was bought years before Shockwave was even announced. He also drips with detail and, in my opinion, is the correct colour of purple. Quakewave just rocks and he has better legs than Takara's Shockwave.

I have Takara Ironhide/Ratchet. They are both exceptional.

Despotron looks miles better than this (supposed) Takara Megs, again in my opinion. I'll know how I feel about Despotron properly tomorrow, when I ought to be able to collect it.

Again, this is just my opinion based on what I want from Masterpiece. This is mostly fostered by what Masterpiece WAS over what it appears to be becoming.

Bold Forms is doing one that does exactly that- a triple changer that turns from robot to tank to gun. Only problems are:

1: The gun mode isn't a Walther P38.
2: Bold Forms' last release (Motormaster) was a total disaster.

I agree and I have felt that too. I like having extra detail. MP Wheeljack is a good example. The bot mode looks great but he turns into a more detailed car than what the cartoon had, so he becomes a more realized version of what the Alternators line started. The tracks mold is what really pushed me over the edge into not liking the need for it to look like the show because it took a lazy approach to it. Those leg pannels that give robot mode detail feel so off. They are more like attached add ons rather than integral to the actual toy, and they feel fake.

And Shockwave and Magnus are good examples too. Not a lot of details there.

Shockwave, definitely. Magnus, I'm not too sure. There's a lot of detail on him but it's not really as defined, possibly because he's just so big. There are a goodly number of spots with lotsa detail but you also notice that there are big spaces of flatness which still has detail, It's just they are big and flat too. Wheeljack is perfection! Tracks I like well enough but I agree on the point of the leg panels.

A good example of having nice detail while still looking very G1 could be Legends Blurr too right? I was really impressed by all that sculpted detail and it didnt take away from any of the toy's G1 goodness :)

Not having Legends Blurr I can't give a definitive opinion. I will say that from the various galleries I've seen though, he's a sexy piece of plastic!
