im one of the people who'll buy this (cause its awesome) but have no real knowledge or connection to the character. so what do the true SS fans think? did they nail it (in your eyes)?

I have little attachment to the animated series character, but I do like the concept, and IDW's MTMTE has given a spin different enough to the character that it can easily face off with Optimus and G2 Lambor on my shelf. And EVA-01.

Thanks for that. I've been checking the big three exporters (AmiAmi, HLJ, and Hobby Search) every day for over a week, but HLJ snuck it up there after I had already checked this morning. Got him and Exhaust, but I still want to see if AmiAmi goes even lower.

Honestly, this is a step backwards for the successful masterpiece line. It is little more than a reproduction of the original toy with better articulation. The vehicle mode lacks the sleek appearance of previous masterpiece figures (because the original is not really based on an Earthbound mold) and the robot mode fails to fill any big hole in one's collection (unless one does not already have this toy and feels their collection is incomplete without it). It looks like little more than an up-sized version of the Robot Masters release.

With amazing articulation, and all the features(ish) of the original. That'll do for me!

I would say that the masterpiece line has continued to go forward since MP 10, Star Saber follows that tradition. The masterpiece line has taken oys from the original lines and remade them with the engineering of today. So what if it's not an earth mold with sleek lines. It's pretty much toon accurate and for a release like this, isn't that a great thing? As for a gap in people's collections there's already been a fair few people here who want this, and considering the original poll was for Japanese fans, I can't see them complaining about this

But star saber was huge so this actually scales best with classics figures by cartoon standards. Thats the reason im buying it. It will go right on my classics shelf. Hexatron was also supposed to be MP scale, but because of his size in tbe comic classics collectors all bought him. Give in to your inner temptations and pre order. I did.

I know they're just blown-up, slightly more HD images of the first color images of Star Saber, but my God, does he look stunning! Six months is going to go pretty slowly...
