oh my.................GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! this prime is a total buy for me! :D but its in japan.....  but thankfully there's the internet! :D

my thoughts:
its detailing makes the massive backpack more livable for me when compared to Hasbro's take of the figure looks horrible   because of the inaccuracy and detail and the backpack ( again) but takara does listen to the fans who love ultra detail and saved the day again by giving the prime the accuracy he deserves. its a miracle i thought twice before i brought the Hasbro version otherwise i would regret it for the rest of my fan-days :-( :-( .

speaking of movie accuracy, they should make a larger grimlock and his team so i can have some movie goodness!!!!!! my moneys on that if takara does that and gives lockdown a voyager mode. there's so much potential for this line to have.

and i hate Hasbro's kiddish toyline. but still we have fan favorites like generations at least.

and Micheal bay, move along >:oP >:oP

I'm a bit outraged why the rest of the world don't get what Japanese kids get locally. :(

Cuz Takara's primary target audience is collectors while Hasbro's is children,

Yes, thank you Sabrblade

I have also seen pictures online that you can also detach the front of the cab and have a Complete truck mode and Robot mode seperate. Can't find the site anymore :(

thanks for looking those up, sabrblade :) out of those, i'm only familiar with cybertron thunderblast, but the others also look like very good shellformers.
i'm not saying this optimus can't be a good figure, but when i saw that picture of both bot mode and truck mode at the same time, i lost all interest. i only need 1 optimus in my movie collection, and he won't be it :)
don't let that stop you from enjoying this figure though.

Wasn't that image with Truck Mode and Robot Mode Optimus of the First Edition, rather than the AoE Generations Leader? Two different molds you know?

Yes, this photo is NOT the same mold as this Takara Optimus:

Image

It is of the first edition Optimus which is a true Shell Former and it's entire truck is on the back:

Image

The Takara Optimus mentioned above is not like this at all. It does have a backpack, but nothing compared to the first edition toy and thus it is not as much of a shell former.

Also, while I hate shellformers, I must admit that the Scourge shown above looks pretty cool actually (and that thunderblast makes me shudder).

High five, this mold can go to heck along with the FOC Prime mold.

You can't polish a turd.
So is this guy just a really shiny lump of poo squeezed from a Bay hole?
Have you handled him, or just don't like it from what you've seen?

Because I'm not a fan of most things movie related, but I would consider this one.

In a Target, I handled/fondled/caressed the box he was in, then I thought I was better off getting a box of cereal. But no, I never stroked this figure out of the box.

Hey you are entitled to your opinion and likes and dislikes. I love my Jetwing Optimus Prime and since each subsequent movie prime was better than the last, I thought they would step up even more with the third movie. Boy was I wrong. I understand that they are marketing this to kids more with the new toys but they can't even give us one decent Prime for adult collectors. No, I don't consider this new Takara one good. It's just ok and I'm not missing out on anything.

hmmmmm, Cereal.

Good choice. Seems a box of shells and cheese might have been appropriate too.
I'm starting to think no on this one. Save my money for MP Ultra Magnus, or maybe some Cap'n Crunch.
That paint job IS nice though Takara.

i wasnt referring to this newest prime. the mold has its flaws, and even a phenomenal paintjob just wont save it for some people. what i was referring to, was evasion prime. its an amazing piece of toy that can be found almost everywhere for a decent price. if moneys no object, its silly not to grab one unless youre very anti bayformer.

This thread has got me messing with Evasion Mode more and more. He is really starting to grow on me. His arms are starting to bother me less. I think I've officially played with him more now than Classic he came with. The way he holds his gun is still silly and dainty. Is the gun real screen accurate or something? IS that why they didn't change it to work better in his hand?
Still wish they had followed through on the face plate.

Isn't his gun Megatron's shotty that he used to off Sentinel in part 2? I guess that's why it doesn't look quite right in his hands. I agree that evasion Prime mold looks decent. I also agree that his arms look small and thin compared to that massive chest of his. He also has a really dainty waist,
and it's really those proportions that keeps this mold from being great. Cobo, perhaps you may be interested in a third party add-on that will make those proportions more aesthetically pleasing?

Overquoting to say that at first, I found the idea of that armor set completely stupid. What's the point? Evasioptimus is perfect as he is.
Then, I got a closer look. IT'S A GOD GINRAI HOMMAGE! With this set, I can have a movieverse mini God Ginrai!!! Oh man, I'm so buying this! =P~

Seriously, any G1 fan out there should have a God Ginrai set. It's incredible!

Holly krapp, Kanrabat you are so right! :BOOM:
At first I thought, super cool, but ain't nobody got time for that.
Now I'm thinking, S!@T, my wife is gonna kill me for going over robo budget this month.

God Ginrai is a perfect example of what I call - That old toy is so stupid I gotta have him.
and I do.

Siger, where did you find that?

Good lookin' out Bros.

Glad to have found another Ginrai lover! I was lucky to have found mine when I was first collecting, around late 2010. I got the first re-issue, loose but with instructions and sticker sheet for only 60$ plus shipping. I usually don't like G1 much, but I fell in love with God Ginrai. It's pure playability madness! Sure, the main Optimus is way inferior to the original, but that's not the point. He got a little guy. A base mode. A puzzle-former buddy. A LOOOOOOOOOONG truck/convoy mode. One super mode. One ULTIMATE mode. Ginrai is pure orgasm in plastic form!

You love your classics, don't you? Yeah, once you have Ginrai, open the box. Smell thay brand new smell... Raaaahhhhh.... Apply the stickers... Than transform and go PEW! PEW! PEW! like crazy!

Oooohhhh.... Talking about it made me feel all tingly... Need... To play... With Ginrai.... NAO! :BOWDOWN: :x 8-}
Come see my latest creation, a Galvatron Combiner using 4 SS86 Sweeps as limbs HERE!

Er... yeah, good eye Karanbat, God Ginrai homage! Whooooo!!! Um... I didn't think I'd evoke this kind of reaction with that post.

Here are two links for this item

Its release date has been delayed for quite some time. But it should be out anytime soon.

So pre-ordered! I just hope that the colors will be right and it will go well with the general release of Evasion Mode Optimus Prime.

Hey, just think about it. Instead of formating himself into the new truck mode, the human guy would have built him THIS armor instead... This would have been WAAAAAYYYYYYYY cooler.

I do have him. And I do love my Classics.
I've been at this a long time. I was 9 when Tformers first hit the shelves. I was pulled back in when I took a hit of my first Beast Wars. Dinobot and Waspinator to be exact. So two hits. This is partially why I'm not such a movie guy, but lets not go there. My G1 collection is pretty much what I had as a kid plus a good bunch of reissues. I make up for my lack of G1 stuff with my Classics collection. Plus they are just much sweeter toys.

I like to use my God Ginrai as a mobile attack transport for my Micromen!
When I lived in Chicago I used to go to Mitsuwa (spelling? :-( ) a dope Japanese minimall. I scored all kinds of sweet Takara goodness, like CarRobot, Microman, Reissues(God Ginrai), etc. They talk about Mitsuwa on the podcasts all the time. Used to get a bottle of sake, some sushi to go, a pile of robots, and head home for a night of pure samurai bliss.
Those were the days.
