So these two arrived yesterday..

And I love them. Ironhide more than Road Rage, but that's just preference I suppose. I haven't paid any mind to the butt wheels/hip panels (since they are attached and all), an I never noticed until I had him that he DOES look proper in the upper torso thanks to some additional red pieces that stick out.

That's just it.all the complaining, the figure is just plain awesome. The side panels in fact shouldn't be an issue.

If I've got a complaint, it's his glossy surface, it gives him too much figreprint smudges.

Robots affecting your hormones sounds like a personal issue, best not shared. Any who, Chromis stands approximately at waist level.


I have one legit and incredibly annoying complaint with Ironhide. The stupid face changing gimmick is far to easy to push out. His damn face pops out every time you pick it up. I've had to go searching for a face several times now.

He looks amazing in both modes and fits right in with the others!

Now this is Ironhide. He looks even more awesome in hand. The face/head is perfect, and the shouting expression is a must. I also like how you can attach the hand replacement without unplugging the regular ones.

After Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, Ironhide is arguably the most prominent Autobot in the pre-movie seasons. (Not to mention Prime's bodyguard and second in command.) He was really missing from the line-up, and MP-27 is pretty much the perfect rendition of him, finally. I was probably grinning like a Cheshire cat. Love how the first step reveals his head.

Kind of late but in Japan, it's a reversed tradition where the ladies are the ones who give chocolate to the gents during Valentine's Day.

I read somewhere complaining about the face falling off too easy. My version doesn't. Must have been a manufacturing flaw which happens all the time. My Metroplex's visor always "activates". Never heard that being a big issue.

Also remember how the angle of the chest cab is said to be too, well not angled. Really now? If it's being based on a show that couldn't keep a set standard on what a character should really appear is really stretching it.

And the insistence that the MP line strictly adhere to anime accuracy is also unbelievably borderline obsession.

Doubters....gives yourself just an hour with the fig and you'll know what we "mean"

I've had over a week with the figure. Its okay, maybe even good, but it's not great. Appearance wise anyway. As I've said before, the engineering is amazing, but a figure needs more than that.

I've got a loose elbow on my Ironhide.

It happened when I was figuring out how to transform it into a window. I tried folding the elbow in many times and trying to close the forearm until I figured out it needed to be left open.

Turns out the elbow got worn out while I was doing it. Does anyone know how to fix it?

That's it, you nailed it. Ironhide reminds me of a figma. He almost looks like a non-transformable figure. He's nice and sleek with just enough auto bits to look like a transformer. The other MP cars look like they obivously turn into something else with vestigial car parts here and there.

I finally know what my problem with Ironhide is. Something about him has nagged at me since the first pics were revealed, and once I had him in hand, I didn't feel as if he really fit in on my MP shelf (or won't once it's set back up). I couldn't put the feeling into words, but now I can.


He is too damn clean.

As you said, Cary, he doesn't have the vehicle kibble all the others do. Aside from his chest, almost nothing remains of his alt mode. That's what nagged at me. Now that I've identified the nag, I think I can let it go now.

In my opinion, Ironhide isn't the best Masterpiece, but has the greatest number of accessories in this line...

Btw, given how almost near "smoothness" his transformation, doesn't remind you of Vehicon General version 2? If what my impression is on him from the rest of the fandom, also one heck of a desgin (I have the TAV version but haven't freed him yet from his plastic prison)

dunno. The only Prime figure I ever bought was Cliffjumper. It was so horrible I ignored the rest of the line.

I am much happier with Ironhide now that I've identified my issue with him. I still think he feels a tad out of place on the MP shelf, but once Ratchet joins him, it should be fine.
