Its true. Little kids have small hands so the most popular characters are always given the "leader" treatment. You will never see hasbro do a new mold of an obscure character in leader scale. (Maybe a repaint like armada megs) With Jetfire being the exception, leader class figures dont scale with anything. They are just oversized figures for kids to enjoy. Theyre not MP figures just because they are the same size. They arent complex enough, nor are they cartoon accurate. They were clearly geared towards kids, not collectors. If some collectors like stand alone figures that dont scale with anything, theyre free to buy into it. But these are for kids. Thats why he is a tank. He has been neutered.

shajaki wrote:I know I'm not the first one to do HasTak comparisons for the new girls, but I personally didn't notice one thing in particular: Takara's Chromia has some shiny United'esq paint on her (mostly only visible in alt mode). Check it out if you haven't noticed before!

Sabrblade wrote:Why oh why did the cartoon have to neuter Megatron's color scheme to being just gray and black, two of the most boring colors ever?
Wolfman Jake wrote:I've got the Hasbro Leader Megatron already, and I'm excited for the upcoming Takara release in May. It simply looks the most G1 cartoon accurate, period. Plus, Takara went with a nice BIG tampograph of the Decepticon sigil for Megatron's chest instead of the smaller one Hasbro used. Hasbro again is aiming for toy accuracy while Takara goes for screen accuracy. Be happy with whichever is your priority in your collection.
That said, I think an interesting take might have been to do the tank with the green and purple camo deco from G2, while all the robot parts were done in G1 cartoon colors. You could break up the "bland" silver and black with some green and purple plus have an "accurate" alt mode for the character, while keeping with the classic robot mode look. Too bad Hasbro already retooled the mold as Armada Megatron, though. Maybe someone could attempt a kitbash between the two?
Wolfman Jake wrote:Karnabat, I think you missed my point. I would like to see a "Composite Megatron." Fully G2 alt mode, with paint apps to match, but the robot inside is G1 Megatron as much as possible, including silver and black in all the right places, with the only pallet difference being the green and purple tank kibble that shows up in robot mode.

noctorro wrote:Well, I have the Hasbro version somewhere stuck at a local import shop. But wasn't going to go for the Takara version.
I think he has a little to much silver/grey. The red breaks that I'm naked thing.
Personal opinion anyway.
As for the fembots limited release, why would you buy more than one? Resell?
As for the size wars, I'm on that bandwagon!
I hate it with the movie line. I love Leader Sentinel Prime, and ROTF Megatron looks great, but AOE has everything voyager sized (I also have that huge-backpack Takara Prime to go better with Galvatron & Lockdown). Evasion Prime's great!
But you can't put voyager Ironhide next to him, the deluxe is way to small. Brrrr. I hate being so bitchy about size.
But a leader just kicks the hell out of a deluxe
