And... pre-ordered through bbts! It was a bit of a tough pill to swallow that, for less than what I pre-ordered him for, I could get a3 and astrotrain, but, hopefully, better images can assuage me, because he is gorgeous =P~

I don't even really know who Lio Convoy really is, and I think this is awesome. (I am, however, aware that the character exists, and what he looks like)

Cheaper than before but not cheaper than buying their version of the mold locally. They also get a heavy tax penalty and customs and shipping from the US to Japan is not cheap at all.

Your question about why stores dont stock both since they come from the same place can also be asked about why your TRU or Walmart dont stock both if they come from the same place. Its because they dont come from the same place. Hasbro and Takara are indepedent companies and they cant sell in eachother's market, contractually. Its like of Adidas and Nike shoes are made in the same factory, its still different companies, doesnt matter if it was made in the same factory or not. So if Amiami or HLJ want Hasbro products, they have to import them just like Red Mercury does in Japan.

Here is how much Alpha Trion is for Japanese people: He can only be gotten bunded with Astrotrain for 110$ (and notice he is sold out, like I said, its our turn to luck out with an exclusive).

And yes, thats right, Hasbro Sondwave costs 95$ for Japanese fans. Its the same price TFSource charges here for the Takara version, proving that both sell for the same price point in their respective markets.

Most of the time they don't release redecos or minor retools of the same toy in a line; unless the respective characters were originally redecoes/minor retools of each other like the Seekers or Trailbreaker and Hoist.

Two words: mold repetition. TakaraTomy is doubling their efforts in avoiding that, while Hasbro does the opposite. Plus, Alpha Trion is already represented in the line by that Minimus Ambus redeco, and he's a relatively minor character there. If anything, a Legends Alpha Trin would be an exclusive.

And good eye to the one who noticed Lio Convoy uses Infinitus:

I wonder if Sovereign will be repurposed somewhere down the line.

There's still the possibility of them releasing Alpha Trion as an exclusive like they did Armada Megatron. Plus there's always the "USA Editions".

I'm still holding out hope for e-Hobby to do Go Prime from this mold. They can't resist a black repaint of this, can they? Plus they get to use the Alpha Trion head.

That's not Diac? I honestly can't tell from such a small, blurry image. Seems strange using Infinitus for both Lio Convoy and ConvoBat (yes, I know, different fictions).

The faint ridges in the mouth plate gave it away, though it takes some squinting.

There is no problem with Brawn, he was never in the legends line yet.
Except for the fact that he's dead circa the time that all the Headmaster guys came from. They'd have to explain his being alive again with some kind of resurrection story (which they could do, but the fact that they'd have to do that means that he couldn't just show up on his own without that kind of newly-made explanation).

Brawn appeared in Season 3. It was also indicated in Five Faces of Darkness that not everyone blown in half died.

Only reason why I agree that it looks more like Infinitus than Diac is because Sentinel Prime has a bigger face that covers the entire Titan Master leaving the top of his head rounded, while Optimus' face is smaller and you can see Diac's back at the top of his head making it square across the top.

The top of Lio Convoy's head doesn't appear to show any Titan Master parts. There also appears to be a faint outline of a chin which Sentinel has, but Optimus doesn't.

eHobby-exclusive characters are largely based on what the toys' original colours were before they were imported to Transformers - Crosscut being the silver colouration of the Skids toy when it was in Diaclone, for instance.
The only two eHobby exclusive characters particularly relevant to the cartoon were Hauler and Sunstorm. Sunstorm was based on a background generic from episode 1 of the cartoon - ie, not an error - and Hauler was based on an error, but one in scripting rather than animation ('Hauler' being the name of the Grapple dead ringer who pulled up Cliffjumper in Episode 2). In any case, this is the exception rather than the norm.
