I take it the pics at the bottom are trying to go for this sorta look



speaking of Fort Max, one thing i will say, is that we could've got a smaller version of him(if someone had gone to the trouble of doing one) using Hardhead's mold!

Also glad to see they're taking advantage of the Headmaster gimmick to swap out what heads each dude has with no extra budget to make a new piece. Makes me wonder if we'll see a use for Doomshot

Better add Diac, Apex's Prime face and Sovereign to that equation.

Not too fond of Legends Blurr's headmaster's legs being a completely different colour. Only turn-off to the Takara version so far tbh.

They did the same thing with Scourge. I think they're trying to get us to ignore the rest of the Headmaster as being part of the head and only focus on the face.

Can't deny the effect, on the Hasbro version the head looks positively too wide on first glance:

At least there it feels more like added detail that the head naturally flows into. With Blurr's it's more like "DON'T LOOK THERE WE SWEAR THERE'S NOTHING BEHIND HIS FACE"

I feel like the headmaster gimmick is becoming an overkill. Everyone is a Headmaster now regardless if they were so in fiction.

I already have the toy of my dreams, and every one after that is an awesome bonus, so I'm not particularly bothered by it or anything. It just bums me out a little bit that obscure characters like Triggerhappy, who didn't get a toy since 1987 are now Headmasters, too.

On the bright side it makes it a lot easier to skip several other characters that are more likely to get an arguably better toy in the future.

Like... who? Like you said, a lot of these characters are from the more obscure parts of G1 and hence aren't very likely to get another toy for a very long time unless IDW makes them a main character or something.

Like Blaster, Perceptor, Astrotrain, maybe Scourge, etc. These kind of characters are likely to get an MP eventually.

But isn't mp a different scale any way? Even if these werent headmasters, they wouldn't fit with the mps, most not in scale and all of them in terms of show accuracy and complexity.

I prefer Hasbro's deco but if that's true then if I ever want him Takara it'll be.

Goshooter is the extra head he comes with. Colour wise, I kke the Hasbro version better. I really like that silver in car mode.

Yeah, that's the bright side I mentioned.. not being tempted to buy the same characters twice. The headmaster gimmick makes it easier to resist figures like the new Perceptor. (which would have gone on the CHUG shelf.)

But for Triggerhappy, the upcoming figure is pretty much it. Probably.

Mostly not as appealing as these ones.

If by that you mean a smaller G1 Headmasters, yes. The term "Headmaster Jr." is only used in the Japanese line, not the US one.

As the smaller Headmaster characters make an appearance in TR, they'll appear in Legends as well in a set with a Legends Class figure:
