Would it be feasible to kitbash a T30 Nightbeat to have a socket and cockpit?

As far as existing TR molds, Getaway is far too manly for dainty little Minerva IMO. Or really any Fembot. Jesus, HARDHEAD would make a better Fembot. As for Hosehead/Cab...I got nothin'.
For Minerva, I'm not sure she need to be very feminine. If I remember correctly from the cartoon, she basically took a genderless autobot body (Transtactor I think they called them?) and made it her own. I still think Breakaway will be a good fit.
Well her original toy was a redeco of Nightbeat. However, she looked like this in the cartoon:
I wouldn't mind if we got a Road Rage/Tracks type release of a Nightbeat that was then heavily retooled into Minerva. But as is I'm either going to get the official Minerva head or resculpt/paint a Nightbeat into her head, and make a replacement neck joint for my broken Animated Arcee. Once I sort her forearm situation anyway.
I understand your point. But since I don't have the skills to modified any other body for her official head (and she will probably not have any official release with a proper body), I will live with the headmaster gimmick giving her any body I can get her. After all those years, I can live with Minerva's head on Breakwawy (a Reprolabel set to repurpose him would be really cool though)

The socket has been done, but I've seen no-one attempt a seat. The inside of the car is pretty full with robot mode stuff, though...

He doesn't have a point, the cartoon robot mode is untransformable (or possibly barely-transformable) stylization, which is nothing new. Optimus Prime's robot mode in the cartoon has the tires magically disappear, the wheel arch in his forearms magically fill in, the front bumper magically double up and extend around his waist into a pair of briefs (well, I suppose you could be really generous and call it a wrestling belt) and Floro Dery's models for the '84 cast should be locked in a vault where no toy designer can see them ever again.. Oops, I think I was drifting into a rant that more belongs in the Masterpiece thread there.

I think he has a point. He wants a body closer to the animation model of the character. I won't deny that the model they used in the cartoon was probably not realisticaly possible as a transformable toy. That being said, I can understand the desire to still find a more feminine body for the new Minerva Headmaster. It won't be a perfect match but it should be closer in appearance. I will be satisfied with Breakaway.

I never said it needed to look exactly like the cartoon (though IIRC a Japanese modeller made a fully transformable kit of Minerva that looks very accurate to the anime). But just because it would be highly difficult to get a 100% accurate toy doesn't mean we shouldn't even try to get a toy that at least has a similar silhouette, which Getaway definitely does not have. I mean, for years people said we would never get a good G1 Arcee, and yet now we have an excellent one- and Minerva's design is far less impossible than Arcee's.
So unless you are for some reason actually opposed on principle to having a Minerva that looks similar to her cartoon design, I don't see what the problem is.

Er, I don't think this item is sold out in Japan, as the pre-order hasn't actually started yet. Usually, the "sold out" button/message is a placeholder until the (pre)order begins (exactly the same thing occurred with Magna Convoy, which was released recently in Japan).
Btw, the combined mode for God Bomber, shown at the recent Tokyo Toy Show, didn't look any different from the regular version. No chrome chest or metallic trailer. It might be that it too was just a placeholder for the final version, but don't get your hopes up, people.

Re: Takara Tomy Transformers Legends Thread
There are fan modes that don't require any additional modding or items and you CAN make the wings sit lower down to look G1.
Also, you CAN rotate your picture to look normal before uploading. If you use a third party image editing app, and then save it (even if it appears normal in that app), it should then have corrected screen rotation inflection included and cause no problems when uploaded.

Check out the "wotofa" channel at YouTube for his review of god ginrai. He shows one of several configurations. I would post a picture here but Seibertron doesn't have their own image hosting and it's not really mobile friendly.

i didnt see anything different on those posts few pages back although the youtube channel that was mentioned before cleared it all up i didnt think it would fold that way but anyway thanks
i did notice too that to make him stand more stable the red heals on the super Ginrai feet need to be flipped up half way so they are touching the bottom of the back legs

Yes. Wotofa is a great reviewer. Even if you can't understand Japanese, he usually includes fixes, or the types of comparisons I want. For example, he shows how to flip up the handles of the gun for Susano/Bludgeon MP figure, or by showing what the new Magna Convoy looks like in the old FP Dia Commander add on kit.

I think we need to remember that Legends God Ginrai is not meant to be Masterforce God Ginrai, this is an update with some changes so it's not going to be exact. That's what the eventual, hopefully, Masterpiece will be for. I do miss not having proper God fists.

And that's why I still think the Hasbro Power Master Optimus is WAY superior. Because he don't attempt to be "geewun". He's an alternate version, with Godbomber FUSED with him. Takara's Ginrai is way too ugly for me and it does not justify having to purchase the ultra expensive (but still nice) Godbomber.

Those ice-rack inner arms are his only fault.
Anyway, I'll wait for the inevitable 400$ Masterpiece to have the TRUE update of G1 Godjinrai.

i know its not exactly like what it should be, though with that trick on the backback to change where the wings sit its pretty closechuckdawg1999 wrote:I think we need to remember that Legends God Ginrai is not meant to be Masterforce God Ginrai, this is an update with some changes so it's not going to be exact. Really? Then why did Takara bother retooling the cab to look like the vintage toy and all that?
Kanrabat, if TR PMOP was really supposed to be Optimus with Apex Bomber fused to him, I think he would have wings and not just the chest armor.

I don't think Godbomber is supposed to be fused to him - I think it's just an elaboration of Hi-Q with some inspiration from Godbomber - but yeah, I agree. He's certainly got some problems and he needs an upgrade kit but proportionally and silhouette-wise PMOP just looks better to me. It's just those feet on Ginrai that kill it for me

I'd be OK with PMOP were it not for the completely hollow forearms, the lack of wrist swivels and the lack of ankle rockers, all of which Ginrai fixes.
Ha ha Transformers go brrrrr
