These are all true and knocks against the figure... but I'd still rather take those over Ginrai's horrid feet. Just a matter of perspective and taste and preference and stuff.

Yes. Wotofa is a great reviewer. Even if you can't understand Japanese, he usually includes fixes, or the types of comparisons I want. For example, he shows how to flip up the handles of the gun for Susano/Bludgeon MP figure, or by showing what the new Magna Convoy looks like in the old FP Dia Commander add on kit.

Sure, he fixes those, but adds a whole ton of problems the original didnt have Like excess kibble litereally hanging off his forearms (the panels cant be folded flat onto oneaother) and the terrible feet which are neither toy or show accurate, as has been shown several times throughout this thread.

At least visually, the Hasbro one declares itself an update in the looks department so it avoids nconguencies to the show model or toy.

I think we need to remember that Legends God Ginrai is not meant to be Masterforce God Ginrai, this is an update with some changes so it's not going to be exact.

Na, thats what the Hasbro version does. Takara clearly went for the Masterforce God Ginri look to the point of giving s godbomber and retooling so much. If they wanted a simple updae, they wouldnt have gone to all the trouble. Your comment is proof at how Takara has failed those who were hoping for something show accurate.

The forearm panels don't really bother me that much. Sure they could have been made to sit flat against the arm, but as it is, they don't flop around, and don't really get in the way of his articulation.

As to the feet, once you know how to position the heel spurs, he stands fairly well. He won't be getting into any super dynamic action poses, but they do work o.k.

I have many more issues with God Bomber and his combination with Ginari, than I do with Ginrai alone.

And that's why I still think the Hasbro Power Master Optimus is WAY superior. Because he don't attempt to be "geewun". He's an alternate version, with Godbomber FUSED with him. Takara's Ginrai is way too ugly for me and it does not justify having to purchase the ultra expensive (but still nice) Godbomber.

Anyway, I'll wait for the inevitable 400$ Masterpiece to have the TRUE update of G1 Godjinrai.

I don't think Godbomber is supposed to be fused to him - I think it's just an elaboration of Hi-Q with some inspiration from Godbomber - but yeah, I agree. He's certainly got some problems and he needs an upgrade kit but proportionally and silhouette-wise PMOP just looks better to me. It's just those feet on Ginrai that kill it for me

Yeah, I realized the same thing on my way home from my art final today, that that was supposed to be a representation of Hi-Q's engine mode like on the original PMOP since Hi-Q himself forms Optimus' head now.

I maintain that Legends Godbomber and God Ginrai's issues stem from trying to use true transformation to replicate what was originally done with extreme partsforming.

Have there been any new pics of Roddy yet?

I wish I could post a pic but I swapped heads with TR Soundwave and Super Ginrai to give Optimus that kind of G1 look with the yellow eyes...

Thank you guys for confirming my doubts. So I can definitely avoid the Japanese release of Ginrai and Godbomber. (and save a fortune too)

Still, if Hasbro ever release a Ginrai / Godbomber two-pack in their platinum line, and it's widely available, and they produced a lot, and it ever fall on clearance, THEN I'd buy it out of curiosity.

Yea these God bomber reviews pretty much confirm that I should cancel my god ginrai box set PO. Will still keep magnus prime given the value, and pray for domestic release of GB.

This thread is a bizarro world. Godbomber is everything I'd have ever expected from a non-Masterpiece figure of the character and a bit more. Once you get the ankles figured out and balanced (which isn't that hard) it poses well and stands stably. The way all the parts store in alt mode is a thing of beauty.

The few negatives of the figure are easy to spot and easier to harp on about, but they don't outweigh the positives by a large margin, for me anyways. I'm having tons of fun with this figure. Even the initial experience of opening it up and spreading out a huge manual to go through all the modes was just a great time and well worth the import.

If the rumors hold and there are indeed two more TR boxed sets coming, I'd wager a Hasbro "Apex Armor" is the Leader Class figure for one of them.

Comparing photos of Legends Ginrai with photos of the vintage toy, I would say that the feet actually are based on the original toy, they seem to have the same general shape but a lot more molded detail. The biggest difference is that the wheels aren't attached (and the feet protrude below the trailer side), due to the mold's origins as T30 Ultra Magnus.

The panels hanging down seems a petty aesthetic quibble compared to the function issues with the panels on PMOP, which are not only kinda ugly, they also barely allow him to hold his own guns and prevent him from holding his weapons in their combined hammer form.

I agree that Super Ginrai is not perfect (Godbomber even less!) but I'm quite happy with the result. The only things that bugs me it's that knowing in advance they would release a box set with those two figures and the two junior headmasters, I would have waited, not having to buy both so I could finaly get a Minerva figure (even if it's only a headmaster). Even with all the bad press both figures have generated (Ginrai and Godbomber), I still would have been thrilled to add them to my collection. Now I will have two (having preordered the exclusive set with Cab and Minerva) and I will probably keep one in combined mode and the other one in vehicule mode, both on display. If they do however releasea Minerva figure on her own in a few months, then I will be royaly pissed But again, I will also remind myself that nobody forced my hands to buy those sets in the first place.

Alternatively, paint it in grey, purple and orange and give it anti-aircraft cannons. Voila, one semi-passable Strika!
