I'm actually tempted to get this. The other combines, no, but this for some reason looks pretty cool. I probably won't because, really, I'm going to want to see Takaras Bruticus.

That paint job on Optimus is sweet. It could really only be improved by a white stripe on the side of the truck, IMO...

I'm a little saddened that Takara didn't go all out on the Grand Convoy homage with Optimus's deco. I mean, sure, an Energon-looking character merging with four G1-looking guys wouldn't make that much sense fiction-wise, but, darn it, we already get plenty of G1 Optimus decos from Takara and a non-G1 deco like the following center digibash needs more love:

They should've used Brawn for the Offroad redeco. He changes into a truck too, and already has the kibble behind his head. Plus no really distinctive chest details to get ruinud by the combiner peg (unlike Ironhide and his windshield chest) It also would've given us a classics Brawn that's bigger than a legends

Why would Brawn be red, though? They need a red arm for the Grand Convoy homage.

I'm no fan of these toys but I do agree with this statement. The obvious pegs were one of the things I disliked most about this toyline but the Takara repaints here go a long way to making them much less noticable as you say. If I wanted to buy these I'd definitely go Takara.

Actually if they wanted to do that Ironhide would have been orange. Also, Why didn't they paint the center chest area?

So am I, this ends up being pretty much the same thing as the Hasbro version but with slightly better deco in some places (Mirage and Prowl for instance, Hasbro's sunstreaker is more to my taste).

The fact that they didnt colour the chest blows hard. And yes, that fact alone has swayed me into no longer being interested in acquiring this version.

That price is a bad sign, that's the price Defensor was at due to him having to be acquired from Hong Kong and not Japan. That probably means he wont be at amiami or other japan e-tailers offering discounts.

I am at least glad that they did paint what they could on the Combiner Mode torso to bring out as much of the Grand Convoy homage in the mold as possible.

The legs and lower body, especially.

Ya, paint doesn't hold so well on the more rubbery plastics. Also there might be a risk of scrapping as that piece rotates in and out of the chest cavity.

He's a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive, so AmiAmi and HLJ won't carry them.

So Hasbro Asia probably charges more knowing they are exclusive in Japan. Hasbro Asia supplies most of BBTS's Transformers.

As was mentioned that's "unpaintable" plastic, so it was never going to be painted.

Really? I like the Takara so much better. I think the yellow plastic on the Hasbro one is translucent and looks like a Dollar Store toy. The Takara one doesn't look like a KO.

Having Defensor, Menasor, and Superion, I'm done with CW for now. Unless they release brand new molds and a "real" combiner, it will be a while before I buy anything new.

What about Devastator, Sky Reign and Bruticus? I know Bruticus is mostly retools and repaints but it looks **** awesome.

I agree that we need all of those combiners you mentioned, but aren't you getting Devastator? I am getting the UW version cuz it's the most g1 accurate, but Devastator was the ORIGINAL combiner. Even though he may be bigger, he still belongs in everyone's G1 cannon collection.

I also think Bruticus is a must have for me, especially since I don't have Defensor. I like Bruticus better than Defensor.

Pretty cool! Like I said I'm waiting for the Unite Warriors version, which means I'll probably get em about Christmas time. I gotta say, the UW version is pretty damn close to MP as far as I can tell. I hope the UW version fixes some of the tolerances, especially the tab connections and Bonecrusher's crotch piece connections (I tried to make it not sound weird).
