That would be way bigger than Titan Class since that would have to fit Titan Class Devastator:

I don't agree here. Because Astrotrain was NEVER giant in robot mode, thanks to cartoo-mass-shifting logics.
What I would see is a Astrotrain playset. Cyberverse/legend scale, kinda like the DOTM Ark. It could even have a simple transformation from space shuttle to train engine, but no bot mode. Instead, it would split open as a "base" with lots of knickknacks so the little scouts and legions could interect in. As for how big the thing would be, G1 Devastator could stand tall inside a closed Astrotrain without problems.
Hey, it WOULD be a titant figure. Unfortunately, based on the poor sales of DOTM Ark, it will never be made...

We already got a good Leader Jetfire.

"Yes, you can probably get commercially available hobbyist paints to stick to this plastic. You are not a multi-million dollar toy corporation and you are beholden to different budget constraints, not to mention your alterations do not have to hold up to the same testing and durability standards their mass-retail toys do. This fundamental disconnect is pretty much the entire driving force behind customizing."

Agreed and I will champion him till the day I die.
By the way, am I the only one worried that this trend means the odds of Bruticus being a Taktommall exclusive are really high? I know it means we can still get the china release but I like having my options and it becomes a bigger hassel when you are outside the states and cant import directly from Japan.

It is suspected that the "dude" oddity in the original might be an accidental carry-over from the "Solar Requiem" comic in which SG Soundwave spoke like that, and that whatever Japanese word was translated to fit SG Soundwave's slang was in turn likewise translated as "dude" here by mistake, as though the translator misinterpreted SG Soundwave's "dude" as being the normal English equivalent rather than a special case.primalxconvoy wrote:Fair points, to be sure. I suspect that my "westernisations" were a lot better than having Megatron say "dude", though.
And like I said, dubs can get away with more changes than subs since they don't have to be as close to the original as subs/text-based translations do.primalxconvoy wrote:Like I've said, the Japanese adaptations for beast wars took fairly large liberties, like omitting the links to the planet actually being "Earth", etc. I think Airrazor was also a make, right? Of not, then the gender of some Transformers has changed in some adaptations. And that's what my version is; a cultural (or perhaps personal) adaptation of the original (Japanese story).
Good to know.primalxconvoy wrote:Also, my Japanese friend was sitting right next to me, helping me with the original meanings, and they didn't think I was too far from the original. Indeed, my Japanese pupils happily sing the English and Japanese versions of the " Totoro March " everyday, on the school bus, with little or no problems in the slight difference in meanings.

primalxconvoy wrote:Thanks for the feedback. Sometimes, in order to "translate" something, a certain level of artistic licence is used, in order to acclimate something to another culture. This often happens, and the differences between the "original" and the translated version are often fairly large. For example, the Japanese edits of the western "Beast Wars" show (by mainframe), are much lighter and "kiddy friendly" (by Japanese standards) in tone.
I have always interpreted Nemesis Prime as a sort of "Randal Flag" character, who can possess almost any "bad convoy" in the multiverse. Similar, to how anyone can become a "walker" in TWD, then perhaps so too could any of the "Scourges" or "Dark Primes", etc become "Nemesis Prime". Notice, however, that this interpretation by me doesn't specifically have the character name itself but rather describe itself as a "nemesis". The ambiguousness of the terms then elicits Superion to make it "Scourge", while others called it "Nemesis".
I mean, Menasor called him " Sillly Black Optimus Recolour", but that doesn't mean that's his official name.
Also, I rather liked "dark sheepoid". I was going to use "Remind you of anyone?" as a homage to the line in the DW Beast Wars comic (when the Fuzors meet their Blendtron dopplegangers, who are also Heralds of Unicron).
PS: please excuse typos. I'm using my phone and Seibertron is extremely anti-mobile in its design (hint hint).
