How 'bout my Rook-arm canon mount though? Pretty AMAZING, right?
See kids, now that's how you get back on topic.
Yeah, that's baller Insert orange cannon extension, move 'Screamer and other flying guy to leg mode (for proper knee caps), move other leg bot from another continuity to arm, instant mega arm Galvatron(us).Cobotron wrote:

'Cause purple Galvatron.

I really like that the combiner peg is G1 Seeker canopy yellow, right there in the center of his body, where his G1 cockpit would be in G1 robot mode. This set is really exciting in my opinion.
What if they made it translucent?!

Did that TAV Bee seriously have breakage issues? That must have been awful.

Odd how x-brawn had a full clear plastic shell but was super solid.

Translucent plastic only becomes a real issue when it's used for joints or in places where it suffers a lot of stress. Being more rigid, it doesn't bend, it just snaps. Looking at Starscream, he should be fine for the most part as most problematic areas (upper legs, shoulder balls, hips and connector peg) use opaque plastic instead and he has closed fist holes:
Just don't force anything on him, and you'll be just fine.

No always. The forcing part that is. It must be the chemical components that cause them to break easy over the opaque ones.

Honestly, I think Takara could have gotten a show-accurately colored Galvatron out of this as well since Cyclonus and Galvatron weren't that differently-colored in the cartoon.Gearslide wrote:itscramtastic wrote:I do think I like the purpleness of USDM Cyclonus over JDM Cyclonus.

Here's Cyclonus:
And here's Galvatron:
Not really that far off on the purple spectrum.
What's more is that the Silverbolt/Cyclonus mold transforms into its torso mode in a way that can allow the torso mode to be fairly differently-colored from the toy's robot mode and vehicle mode decos, as we see here with a predominately violet jet and robot becoming a predominately light gray torso. Thus, a cartoon-accurate Galvatron torso could have probably been done with ease.
So, this begs the question of why TakaraTomy chose to go with a toy-accurate Galvatron torso mode over a show-accurate one.
Previously in this thread, it was suggested that Grand Galvatron could be Galvatron II instead of Galvatron proper, since Galvatron II is known in the Japanese G1 continuity for having the 1986 Galvatron toy colors instead of the the cartoon colors. However, the bios for each figure in this set only refer to the Galvatron in question as just "Galvatron" rather than as "Galvatron II", and given that this is Takara we're dealing with here, if it was meant to be Galvatron II, the bios would have very probably specified "Galvatron II" over just "Galvatron".
What's more is that the Galvatron the bios refer to is one that Cyclonus is so loyal to that he would willingly allow his deceased master's soul to possess his body as a means to help bring him back to life. Thus far, the only Cyclonus in Japanese G1 fiction who has been so loyal to a Galvatron has been the Cartoon version, with the Galvatron he is loyal to also being the Cartoon version. And since the Cartoon version of Cyclonus hasn't had any documented history/relations/familiarity/etc. with Galvatron II, it is a safe assumption that the Galvatron that this toy is meant to evoke is the Cartoon Galvatron.
Which brings us back to the original question of why this toy is in toy-accurate colors instead of show-accurate colors. At this point, I have only two guesses as to why they chose to go with toy colors over show colors despite Takara's track record of being so beholden to show-accuracy. And my first guess is... The headsculpt.
A closer look at the Galvatronus headsculpt shows that, while it is a Galvatron head, it is scuplted more closely to the shape and design of the original 1986 Galvatron toy's head than to the shape and design of Galvatron's G1 cartoon animation model's head. The helmet especially is more like the G1 toy's with the spikes being arranged more like the point of a crown rather than two side horns and a forehead crest.
Compare:
As opposed to a more cartoon-based head design like this:
The other guess I have is something a bit more simpler. With the Titans Return Galvatron mold on its way, it's pretty likely that Takara's gonna give that figure a super show-accurate deco (even in spite of its Titan Master gimmick), so Takara might have wanted to do something different with this combiner version of Galvatron to give fans a justifiable reason to own both without one making the other seem too redundant. Plus, the Grand Galvatron combiner technically isn't Galvatron proper himself, so it has that leeway to not need to look exactly like Galvatron's cartoon deco.

Hasn't stopped Takara before from releasing figures in slightly different yet way more accurate decos.Hellscream9999 wrote:Either that, or they didn't want to release one that was nearly identical to hasbro's, since hasbro basically nailed both cartoon looks;
