Well, I haven't yet ordered any of the Protectobots yet, and I wouldn't mind having a Deluxe Groove to keep Defensor traditional, so...

Still getting Rook regardless. I find the new members just as satisfying (if not more) than the OG gangsters, and Rook nails it.

I knew they'd pull this off right! While this practice is a little deceptive to consumers, I still think it's pretty brilliant. Kudos to them for doing this right.

In the case of the Aerialbots and Stunticons it may have been, even then I think it's more of Hasbro not wanting too much redundancy in their lineups and Takara wanting to recreate the original teams. So Hasbro went along with making them as a way for fans to recreate the original teams while also making the teams diverse enough on the shelves.

In this case, it's not a matter of lack of diversity but some weird adherence to scale (despite Rook being huge compared to his team mates if they were in scale). So Groove was developed as a Legend to keep him as part of the team.

I think that this Deluxe Groove is a TakaraTomy only initiative to have the original Protectobots with the same roles as the originals. Hence why Legends Groove is Adventure Override and now we have a Deluxe Groove coming.

I'd been thinking I'd be satisfied with the Hasbro Defensor, but damn it, now Takara has me reconsidering! Hopefully we get a better picture before it is too late to cancel my existing pre-orders if I do decide to go Takara.

I think the other issue is Takara are selling these as one set as opposed to Hasbro who are selling each figure individually. Takara can get away with some uniformity in design that way since 5 figures are moving in one swoop whereas Hasbro feels they need some diversity on the shelves.

If TakaraTomy gives us a Deluxe Class Groove, that will be really awesome! But making Groove a Legends Class figure was much better in terms of scale (you don't see a motorcycle the same size as a helicopter do you), and Rook is an awesome figure, so really, I both like and don't like and don't like the idea of a Deluxe Class Combiner Wars Groove. What do you all think of the idea of a Deluxe Combiner Wars Groove?

I don't think that will be a problem given the level of retooling used throughout the last year or two. I mean, look at Air Raid and Skydive!

The silhouette doesn't make it look like Rook with Groove stuck to the front. The bottom half looks very different - but anyone who says pictures never lie has never used photoshop....

Also, this pretty much confirms a future Computron and hell, why not, predictions have been correct, a Bruticus! Also, hey HasTak, we need Predacons/Seacons/Terrorcons! I'll even give the ideas:
Divebomb-Cutthroat, even Seawing if they get creative
Overbite-Rippersnapper, Skalor
Headstrong-Tantrum
Rampage-Ravage?Cheetor should we get Rhinox from Headstrong?
Blot-Tentakill?Skalor?
And this one woulld take MASSIVE retooling, but Razorclaw could become Snaptrap, both are four legged beasts with twin cannons on their backs, and both end up with the animal head as a chest.
Sinnertwin could become a Monsterbot, like many have customized the TFP legion one as, Blot as well.
Also, while Hun-Grr would need a new mould, he could be retooled into RiD Megatron...And bam! A reason for the Hotspot redeco everyone wants!

This news tells me that Rook is then definitely intended as another combiner member. But which one would it be? The leaked listings show that both Computron and Bruticus are getting all their members (no new ones).
