Be patient, a picture in a magazine is hardly the sweeping presentation that ironhide got...

But, I mean, what were you expecting? The original figure was already pretty much perfect, and had more gimmicks than most mp's have, do you want that dumb chest pounding gimmick kept or something?

This was clearly made to celebrate bw and to give us the o/p that was in the show; hopefully he'll have cool pop-out lasers and the rocket pack and stuff.

What am I expecting? That depends on the final price, honestly. I simply will not pay a masterpiece level price point for A generations level figure

Seriously. What are you expecting? Like, list stuff you want/expect, I'm curious.

We all knew from the first images that it was going to be a (slightly) more involved, near carbon copy of the original toy, since the show was based on the original toy (I believe), so it already has tough competition.

It looks to correct some proportional things and seems like it'll have increased poseability and some wrist-mounted shenanigans. It's o/p from the show, depending on whether they ruin it with the chest pounding thing, this will be what I always wanted form the original toy, but never got.
I am not a G1 fan, please treat my opinions as such.

Hold on just a sec there. The first image we got was of a PERFECT gorrila mode. I am realizing now that it was probably just a statue but that is still how they presented this to us. It would have simialr robot mode articulation in gorilla mode and stand upright and not show any robot bits.

Image

These new shots dont show us this. I expected a perfect alt mode. And I dont think it is an unreasonable expectation when they presentes us with JUST the alt mode.

Really? I said from the very start it was probably a print out of the show model that they were then going to use as a guide to create the figure >:oP

I would rather have 2 poseable modes than a 'perfect' statue of o/p in beast mode =;

Yeah, the elbows are pretty weird, those probably could've been changed I think, but that is how he looked in the toy and the show; Did you think his shoulder pads would come out of nowhere, or that he would panel-form all the fur into the backpack or something?

He will do stuff, he looks to have great poseability, and the ability to stand up in beast mode, and he has cartoon accurate heads. If this were a G1 figure people would probably be all over it despite any apparent flaws (cough hotrod 2.0 cough)

I didnt say I want a statue, I said he was presented to us looking perfect, so of course everything less than perfect is a bit of a letdown. And the Mastepriece line has already made pretty nice miracles so far like the entire bottom half of Sideswipe. And Hotrod has plenty of hate.

I knew the moment I saw no panel lines that this was a reference model, so this wasn't a disappointment to me *shrug*

Guess I'm just sad that this isn't as big a thing for you guys as it is for me :(

Its HUGE for me, hence why I am being so darn scrupulous. I would love an MP primal, but if its just to be similar to the old toy but upgrade a bit, then I would be dissapointed. Right now it looks similar to an update as Gen Rattrap is. Nothing wrong with that, but not MP.

Maybe I'm biased because I'm jaded that I didn't have any of the cast figures growing up, so I need a 'great' version of each, the legends one still wouldn't do it for me b/c of the stupid beast head...

Don't get me wrong, I'd kill for this to be a regular generations release, but what is there left to update that the toy didn't already have? Did you want crazy panel-forming? His beast legs look like they do something crazy to extend at the thigh, he has double-jointed shoulders for (realistic?) beast mode poses - including the iconic upright poses, he has a cartoon accurate head...

I'll ask again, what was anyone expecting from this? Insane panel-forming :roll:

I'm stoked, and shall remain so until a dumb chest-pounding gimmick is announced - if it exists. He looks like he walked right out of the show, and I honestly cannot wait to get him =P~

You can always get the one that came out last year:

This is the one I might be getting for Christmas.

It has the new head and chest of the 10th anni version, but how does it stack up to the telemocha in terms of deco?

Image

I like the silver and glossy red on the arms and legs of the Telemocha release more than the white and flat red, but this deco is more cartoon accurate.

Well, I certainly back that notion, but I still think people are putting too much store by something that was clearly not meant to be anything but a reference point/show-piece |:|

Naw, I totally get that, I've been correct for years that tfs are inflating, shrinking, thinning out, and losing paint - and that this is where we would end up;

Fortunately mp Shockwave seems quite exceptional 8-)

From Twitter user tagoal, and via Seibertronian Mindmaster, we have another teaser (perhaps unnecessary, as we have already seen renderings and prototypes) of the upcoming Takara Tomy Transformers Masterpiece Optimus Primal. You can check out the image, with all the Takara features, showing off silhouettes for both modes mirrored below - and stay tuned for a bigger reveal apparently dropping next week!

The only thing that has me concerned about this silhouette are the feet, which look really big and oddly-shaped in both modes, whereas the feet of the show's animation model looked pretty accurate to the feet of the original toy in both modes.

This isn't the same MP series as the others.

Besides, RobotMasters had Primal (and Megatron) be Autobot-sized:
