That's a weak excuse, they could mold more fur on the mp figure, the show version only had that because of cg constraints...
My point is that the show model did have fur and wasn't as solidly smooth-surfaced as this unfinished render looks.

Oh, that, yeah, that was a render without the texture layer active;

The hinges on beast mode look strange. Though to be honest the original mold had them too. Not sure how much of an improvement over the original Convoy mold this is going to be.

But as it stands IMHO, the Telemocha SP-DX Convoy is still the best version of the Primal mold to date.
Great silver and glossy red paint. All the accessories and features including the mutant head/mask.

Still will have to wait for a final product image before passing final judgement.

Let's look at it this way; at least they're not using actual fake fur on the figure. Primus what a mess that would be.

You can always mix and match for the perfect version. If you have both. Though the silver on the chest plate may not match.

The Chest / gorilla head is easily swappable. And the Head can be unscrewed.

So I just noticed that o/p has a joint in the collar to allow his arms to flex forward in beast mode, this could easily be the most dynamic mp released as far as articulation goes

Yup, I'll be ordering this guy for sure.

I'm not worrying about exposed robot bits in beast mode because let's face it, there's no way they can cover up all of those bits without making this guy one big panel former.

As for his fur, I'm sure they give it some texture so it'll look better.

My only three real complaints:

1) His bot mode head seems a little too big. Hopefully it'll be slightly smaller next time.

2) It seems like there's a button on his back. Please don't give this figure the same gimmicks as the original. No spring loaded flip up missile launchers and no lame arm swinging action.

3) How the hell did they mess up his feet so badly in both modes? The original figure did a really good job with the feet and this feels like a step back. They should be able to hide the other mode's feet better than this.

1 - seems proportionate enough, but the longer I stare at it, the less sure I am

2 - please please please don't ruin this figure with that crap

3 - it may be to allow him to stand up in beast mode; I overlooked rattraps kibble for this reason, I can overlook it on o/p...

Yup, there are plenty of options. No one should feel forced to buy a toy. And plus from these early renders, it doesnt seem like such an extreme update.

A show accurate head, the disparity between the toy and show models is quite large, having never owned any version of the toy, the only thing I have or nostalgia is the show, so that's what I want from my show accurate o/p >:oP

Remember this is far from a prototype, or the final product. What worries me is what looks suspiciously like a switch in the middle of his back on the wireframe. I don't want my MP to have chest beating action. So far it looks alot like an update of the original figure transformationwise, and I don't think it will be as smooth when it's finished.

yeah, I know that. I mean that sooner or later the texture is probably going to be sculpted onto the mesh, since you can't really print out/make a mold out of texture files and normal maps.

Be patient, a picture in a magazine is hardly the sweeping presentation that ironhide got...

But, I mean, what were you expecting? The original figure was already pretty much perfect, and had more gimmicks than most mp's have, do you want that dumb chest pounding gimmick kept or something?

This was clearly made to celebrate bw and to give us the o/p that was in the show; hopefully he'll have cool pop-out lasers and the rocket pack and stuff.

What am I expecting? That depends on the final price, honestly. I simply will not pay a masterpiece level price point for A generations level figure
