As for how it looks, I have never owned the Optimus Primal figure (a regret, I know) but they never totally appealed to me, because no matter how much the robot mode head was altered, it never looked like the design in the show. The toy was "realistic" and the shows was... not, for lack of a better word.

What about this smaller one?

WHOOPS, that was super my bad I meant the BEAST mode was never accurate to the show, and as I watched that forever as a kid, it was really important to me that the beast mode at least resemble the character I loved growing up.

My wallet would kill itself if Takara did that. It would be an awesome way for it to go however.

This will be the first MP figure since MP-01 that I've absolutely no interest in. I'm not a fan of Beast Wars (many have tried to turn me lol) in any guise, and this is doing nothing to change that.

It could be a nontransforming preproduction model for the figure rather than a painted prototype.

Exactly, which is why I only collect beasts and fembots and am finally excited about a Masterpiece release (although technically Road Rage excites me, but not to the level of this). I do really enjoy RiD01, Animated, and some of Prime and the '07 movie, and the '86 movie is awesome but the show makes me want to blow my brains out. The Unicron Trilogy turned me off to vehicle forms altogether. Waiting for P2V2 of the IDW comics since it has so many Beastie nods and fembots, plus I like "gay" characters. So that will probably be a G1 I enjoy

I really hope they work in the 'traditional Optimus' facemask too. I always preferred that battle mask look to the 'robo-lips' that was his standard model

Forget it. the goal of the MP line, especially since MP-10, is to be 100% cartoon accurate. So, it will be robo-lips all the way.
Maybe it will have a battlemask gimmick like for Cybertron Leader or something.

Battle mask IS cartoon Accurate. At least some of the time. Standard look was lips, but when the battle got rough he'd pop the... I don't know what's that's even called?? mouth guard? Visor? Whatever the opposite of robo lips would be.


I'm sure he'll have the 'standard' head... but Bumblebee got an extra face, so I'm hoping he does too.

Yep. To be honest I've always felt he looked kinda weird with the mouthplate and wished the toy had lips. Besides, every time he used the mouthplate it was gone in the next shot, even in the middle of a battle.

I was the opposite. I liked every and any throwback to G1 they could give us. Honestly I really didn't like season 1 at all as the 'robot' to 'flesh' gimmick seemed dumb to me, and the 'reboot/remake' of good vs evil crashing on the planet just annoyed me. Once the plot started incorporating G1 aspects and delved more into overall story... it made it more of a sequel then a remake... I REALLY started to get into it. Absolutely LOVED season 3!

But yeah, that season one, I loved the mouthplate.


This is another interesting concept... Masterpiece line has been 'trying' to stay in scale with itself... and there was a MASSIVE shift in size from Optimus Prime and Optimus Primal... I really think masterpiece Beast Wars HAS to be it's own thing doesn't it??

If Primal would be in scale with MP-10 and the rest, he should be at most Cyberverse commander size or scout.

That's why MP-BW should be it's own thing.

Beast Wars occurs in the same universe/timeline as G1. So, in my view, it's not that one is needed to enjoy the other; rather, each is stronger for the existence of the other.
