I would rather they have taken the BW Primal and just cosmetically updated that, hidden all the slight robot parts, and taken out the beating cheat gimmick, then call it a day.
But they already did that with the telemocha one so there is no point in doing it again for the MP. You can still buy it right here and be done for the day http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Transformers-Leg ... SwBahVR1K0 (its cheaper too and scales with Gen Rhinox!)
So since we already have what you want, they decided to give us something totally new.
- The Beast mode can now stand up like he did the majority of the time.
- The Gorilla head is of a MUCH better proportion and actually looks like the show model unlike any previous incarnation.
- He has wrist pistols in both hands and they dont flip out leaving his forearms looking like they just exploded.
- More articulation everywhere! (especially the wrists/hands)
- Both the mouth and faceplate for robot
- Better proportions in robot mode
- A totally new transformation scheme to make up for the better beast mode proportions
- Less robot mode showing in beast mode, and none of those big empty lines cutting across the beast chest.
This is a step up in almost everyway and he will look more show accurate in both modes than ever before. That is what MP is all about!

Don't forget to buy a non-MP one for your son too

Oh, how I wish we had more than one term to refer to all the different things that the term "G1" can refer to.

Alright, I'll run through these one at a time, I guess...
* Beast Wars was its own franchise separate from the "G1 franchise" (as in, "the 1984-1992 Transformers franchise"), but its fiction is set within "G1" (as in "Primax") continuities. So it's not a G1 franchise or a G1 toyline, but is a subset of G1 continuities.
* And... huh, I guess I knocked out all three of the last ones with that second point. Fancy that.
If only the word "Primax" was more ubiquitous.

I disagree. Yes it has some issues. and yes it does some things better than the original, and some worst. but by no means is it a crappy figure.
It has a few exposed bits on the gorilla feet, physical dimensions of the legs make this inevitable.
Sword Storage is really unnecessary. CGI can magically produce the swords from nowhere. A physical figure needs actual space for them, and the swords this figure has are huge. The swords of the original while nice and quite small, so they fit pegged in on the sides of the back section. These swords are almost as long as his torso, no real place to put them, and no real need to store them on him in beast mode anyway.the beast mode head doesn't become the chest
Why is this a requirement? The CGI did not do this. It just made the head disappear into the torso. The toy had to do this to produce the robot mode chest piece from somewhere. But its not really a thing from the show.and less weapons
Which ones? So far it has the shoulder guns, the arm guns and the swords. The only thing missing is the skull mace, and that was never a thing in the show. But just because we have not seen it in these shots does not mean its not there as an accessory.
All in all, I think its better to get an entirely new mold that does things differently, than just repainting the same one over and over. And at least this one will not have the chest punching / sword spinning gimmick which has no become stuck in chest punching mode on mine. Thats a checkmark in the improvement column for me. I also love the light up eyes.
Its fine if you don't like it. but a crappy figure it is not.

Yes, that. Those toys fascinated me as a kid. I would spend forever just flipping the heads around because it was so weird looking. I seem to remember a friend of mine had a bunch of Power Rangers ones that he would get mad at me for leaving with all of their heads stuck half-way flipped.
A tragic story in which a young boy's hopes are dashed by an inferior toy company.
"G1" does not refer to a single universe. There are many "G1" universes, the original being the Marvel Comics that preceded and then outlived (by several years) the Sunbow cartoon.Stumpybot wrote:As for continuities, to me, Beast Wars is same universe as G1.

I'm slightly disappointed that it's not as self-contained as the original, but it's not that big a deal. And yeah, everything else is spectacular.
I hope we get Masterpiece versions of more of the Beast Wars cast. Dinobot and Blackarachnia would probably be impossible within our current understanding of physics, and Rhinox might be redundant, but there's still plenty to work with, especially if they go past the first season. Megatron is the obvious choice, of course, but I hope it doesn't end there.
