I have no regrets ordering these guys. They fill some very interesting holes in a Generations collection, even if Sabrblade has basically convinced me we should have had a Thunderwing torso...

Too soon to speculate, but... which Wreckers with an altmode have we missed? Like a jet, car, helicopter, truck...

It could be a cyclonus redecoed in to thunderwing, but with bludgeons skull head as the combiner head

(yes, I do know the last figure is a cw deluxe, just thought it was a funny notion)

Yeah, I'm kinda surprised they didn't use Construct-Bot weapons like they did for Oilmaster.

Arcee's guns can't face forward attached to Rook's fist since the back peg is too short, but they can mount on his shoulders at least, so they're of some use.

One of the reasons the might have not made the torso bot Thunderwing might have something to do with the rather small space for a head on Silverbolt/Cyclonus and went with the next best thing the could do. Also, does anyone know the time Hasbro and FunPub's plans can't overlap for characters? I just wondering if Hasbro might have plans for a Thunderwing within the next few years and this is how they could get around it (a headmaster Thunderwing with the head being based off the inner robot would be AWESOME).

EDIT: Isn't one of the big theories about this years bonus figure it being Emirate Xaaron? Cause I feel with this set being mainly centered around Matrix Quest he would be a much bet fit here. Maybe they could make him from the Brawl mold with a new head or if they had to just a painted on mouth.

The non-matching hands and feets are intriguing, but I'll miss the not neing able to mix and match.

One one hand, I really hoped that the combiner head would be Blugeon for Bludgeon's sake, but given Thunerwing's role in IDW, particularly Storm Bringer and Bludgeon's worshiping, his being the Combiner head makes a bit more sense than Bluedgeon being the Combiner head of his own Combiner.

Shame I'll have to replace the Classics figure.

Need's a better name though. I actually much prefer Calamitus.

Yes. They probably realized that Ruckus isn't the best arm despite this and made him a leg and Needlenose an arm. With the two they have as arms, it makes the arms look less massive and the legs more massive. Meaning he was probably kind of top heavy looking before hand.

That's a killer head sculpt but it feels more individual character than combiner.

So am I. I fairly certain I never had any of the Decepticon double Targetmasters. I hold my opinion of that Thunderwing head until I've seen in hand pics.

If I may be so bold as to ask; I know the combined mode was a little (very little) off-putting (deco-wise, with thunderwings head seemingly stuck onto bludgeons body) have you maybe considered redecoing just the armor part in more of a thunderwing palette (white/light grey, with blue, yellow, black highlights)?

Since it (the combined mode armor) folds up entirely (not having the figure, I cannot verify how much you would see, but regardless) it would hide any non-bludgeon paint, while adding a more cohesive, and 'thunderwing-esque' look to the combined mode.

Just a thought to consider.

There were about half a dozen, or probably more counting minor variations, different attempts at how to best compromise between vehicle mode and combined mode. And a (small for obvious reasons) number of people were involved in evaluating each one.

The main area of the chest was not a problem because it gets covered by the folding pieces that you mention. So that was able to have the gray and the black for the nod to Thunderwing. The waist flap and the shoulder wings, however, are all still visible in vehicle mode. Some of the pieces being very prominent. The waist piece was left green for this reason as well as the fact that Thunderwing has a significant amount of green on his waist in most of his depictions. The shoulder wings were given the gray stripes since those were small enough to not stand out on the vehicle's turret. And of course the black was added to the legs to help break up that green.

Looking at the overall colors scheme, the orange gets completely hidden, the brown is significantly downplayed and only remains visible in the hinges and similar parts, and the green actually makes sense to be in a lot of the places that it's in. So personally, I think it works fairly well at evoking the character it's meant to be referencing. Especially with all of the gray and blue on Needlenose and the touches of gray on Spinister.

Alright, fair enough, fair enough; I was originally thinking back to the pics of onslaught with the chest wings folded up against the turret area in vehicle mode, and wondered if the top of it could be painted a different color for combined mode and leave the bottom side green for vehicle mode.

I don't actually know what Thunderwing is supposed to look like, but it seems his body is mostly bone white/grey, so the deco actually works; perhaps, though, color the mid-section of the cod-plate grey so it doesn't look like a giant green wrestler belt;

I was never against it, I think it looks really cool; my only regret is that circumstances prevent me from affording it :(

Hope to see a continued (if only subdued) use of the CW molds in the future.

That's great! Better sales means they'll probably produce a greater quantity of sets for the Club Store for those who missed out on the subscription window.

They've said a few times that they're going to cut this run very close to the sub number and not to expect extras in the club store. In other words, enough to exchange some for problems, and maybe you'll see some in the "buy random loose extras/let's make a deal" table at Botcon, but that's it. Which is fine by me, a "made to order" run being actually, roughly "made to order" makes a lot of business sense.

Awesome that it was a huge success! I hope you don't over order like 1.0 and 2.0 and get a ton of leftovers.

Maybe 2017 can have Quake and Crankcase. I really feel like they should have been there. Teams need to be finished. We're so close to having awesome renditions of the Triggercons and Decepticon Double Targetmasters!

I'm not surprised this did well. These are figures that are, and will be relatively new upon release. The other FSS waves used molds that were over 10 years old in some cases.
