another! you mean this has been covered before? well beat me dead. I was curious as to what makes us tick, is my poison anothers etc?

I dont like or dislike a toy because of the name on the box/the series/nostalgia, subjectivity aside a good design and a bad design can be recognised and not all TF are nice designs despite including some of the greatest toys ever made.

No, my bad, this hasn’t been brought up before, there just seems to be a lot of threads about how people dislike a lot of tf’s, it’s a good thread, I tend to get in tizzy when people start to call them ugly for one reason or another.

neckoman, well i will say quite happily that silverbolt IS ugly!!!!

i understand your dislike of bitchin threads, im talking about genuinely (by most standards) awful toys, im not one to start crying 'animated is MEH 'cos it aint wot i was used to'.

I think well agree that those type of comments are no good for anybody.

Silverbolt is dumb, Universe Silverbolt is VERY ugly.

its those horrible legs really not matching the rest of the figure. Compared to the nicey balanced G1 prowl, or even (dare i say this) the nicely balanced animated prowl (im using same name toys simply as an example of convenience) it is quite awful. When these toys came out after beast wars i remember thinking 'beast wars actually arent too bad by comparison!'

Any Arcee >.<

I know they haven't had figures yet but the cartoon version of G1 Arcee and the animated screenshot featuring Arcee both hurt my eyes to an extent of wanting to tear of the animators heads. Energon Arcee figure is just a no, the same mold repainted in the movie line is again... no.
In fact, deluxe movie Arcee is the only Arcee I like!

Now that's just stupid. Why are G1 characters considered holy? It's like all those people saying "A mass-shifting TF is stupid... unless its Megatron... and Soundwave." or "A yellow F-15? That's ugly!! F-15 Jets can only be white/red, blue/red or black/purple!"

How come those old geezers always get excluded from the fanhate? Sure, they were the originals, but there's plenty of crap in G1 as well. What makes you think Shockwave's lens head is cool and other lenses suck?

How come every time someone sayes the new take on an old concept isn't done right(especialy when the new takes suck noodles) does someone reply with this general sentament :???:

I don't think it's a G1 thing here, so much as a quality thing.

G1 ShockWave and the Energon homage ShockBlast rocked! PayLoad DreadWing and Swindle fall very short of the bar though.

OMG! Psychadellic colors, low quality plastic, G.P.S, chicken-legs, hideous missile launcher, etc. G2 Bruticus was at least still a good mold and was somewhat durable. Superion was bad to begin with and they made it worse.

My EEEYYYYEEEESSSS!!! :BLACKEYE: This thing is a nightmare! ZERO points of articulation, legs not separated or even implied to be legs, bad alt mode, worse arms than Classics Swoop, etc. This thing makes me feel sorry for any Brits that may have encountered it during the terrible reign of G2.

How's a picture comparison 'proof'? All I see are a bunch of cool TFs whose faceless heads give them a cold aura. What makes Shockwave so much cooler? He's just more iconic since he's been around for so long.

I like Shockwave a lot, but it's weird saying he should be the exception to the rule "lensfaces suck!". Why this privilege? IMO, if I have to decide,

I think the lens faces are cooler, for the differences they have, are for the better. Shockwave's head is kinda squashed and chubby looking, with an empty faceplate and a single smaller eye. Those antennae are like bunny ears. The movie Drone Trio has this huge glass plate with some minor details around, a chin piece, a crest or antennae. They remind me of Ringwraiths with those faceless heads.

shockwave/shockblast/sixshot are just more articulate than the other lens faces. its like they just forgot to put a face on the others , and i think that takes away a bit of personality from the piece. might as well be a jet, car or whatever with arms on it that fold in. or heres a better example, the action masters accessories. they are as personable as the action master accessories accessories with arms.

That was my idea, I have no problem with a lense head, what I do have a problem with are subpar bots.

It's not a G1 thing, but a quality thing.
