You mean the movie filled with painfully cheesy lines? And killed off half the cast, including Optimus Prime, in the first twenty minutes, replacing them with new, less impressive characters, simply because they needed to put new toys on the market?

I don't recall any cheesy lines, if you could quote some for us, it would help hopefully they are not as bad as

"Bumblebee stop lubricating the man"
"Whats cracking little bitches"
or
'Sam were you masturbating?"

Were they cheesy like those mate?

Oh he's made two bad TF movies? Really? And you know this...how?
Oh wait. You DON'T. You haven't seen the second film yet. I see, ignorance and posting go SOOO well together.

Strike one.

Coolyfett wrote:I am actually hoping that he can people. It will be a few years for the reboot...so I am hoping he can finally produce a quality TF film.

Bay doesn't owe you jack squat. Not to mention, you need to blame the writers, producers, and the PUBLIC as well, if you're going to blame him. Your peers and general movie goers are the IDIOTS to blame for the first TF film.

They had to cave to kiss ass to get the public to watch the movie, and it worked. Plus the film wasn't terrible, so it wasn't a total loss. And regardless of whether or not you liked the story, the film WAS high quality. The acting was excellent, the humor (while sometimes not necessary due to it's content) was well timed, and expertly executed. The robots and their animation was absolutely breathtaking and just knocked the socks off of the audience. Even if you don't care for the designs, you have to admit they looked real and that alone is impressive. And the special effects? Don't even get me started. They were handled quite well.

Strike two.

Coolyfett wrote:He shouldn't add anymore character. His judgment in picking bots has been terrible, so he might as well just expand on the characters he has already created. Let us know more about Soundwave, Arcee & Sideswipe. Please kill off Spike's girlfriend!! I don't really like her that much. Really no need or place for her in a TF movie.

The same old characters wear thin. Look at Star Trek. They used the same heroes, same villains, and it got so stale it could break your teeth. It was pure luck and a miracle that J.J. Abrams, Orci, and Kurtzman could pull off such an amazing feat such as the new 'Trek.

It's not just Bay's decision in picking 'bots. Hasbro has somewhat of a say too, plus the writers chose to add Jolt. Not Bay. The writers.

We haven't seen the film yet, we don't know how fleshed out the new 'bots will be. Sure, it's more likely they won't be, but we don't know yet. And what would killing Mikaela do for the film(s)? Really, other than getting rid of Megan Fox's acting (which I hear has really stepped up this time around), what good would it do to kill off her character? Make the third movie a search for a new love interest? Geez. And it's SAM, not Spike. This is NOT G1. This is a total reboot of the series for the public, not G1!

Strike three.

Coolyfett wrote:Paramont, Hasbro, Dreamworks has cashed in enough on the brand. It is about time they give us fans something good and stop catering to the MTV audience. Just 1 good movie is all I am asking for people. Not a trilogy or saga, but 1 good Transformers film. Mike Bay claims he will be taking a so called break from the brand, hopefully in this time frame he can figure out a way to make a great TF film. I can only hope.

Sorry about your luck. Your family and friends ARE the MTV audience. Not to mention, you're knocking a LOT of people. And you don't know any of them (outside of your family members and friends) and you're assuming they're stupid and vapid. As a whole? Yes, most likely they are. Individually? No. Each person has their positives and negatives. Most of them are talented individuals who watch the movies today, but have the potential to make them tomorrow. You can't discount every single person in the audience. As a whole? Yes, group mentality does lead to stupidity. And it shows in Hollywood now, more than ever. But, that doesn't mean it's the world's biggest offense. Bay not only helped put TransFormers on the map, but he helped revive a dying franchise, and gave us legitimacy for the first time in a long, long time. People now realize there's more to the story than just a glorified toy commercial. These are longstanding, well loved characters, and the public's finally embracing them. That's a tall order. A big feat. And Bay did just that. He should be commended, not castrated.

I'm guessing you think TFTM from 1986 was just Oscar worthy, intelligent, and looked good. (If so, you're wrong. It was utter crap, it was stupid, and while visually impressive, it didn't float my boat.)

If you compare the '86 film to the '07 one, I guarantee you, more often than not, more people will flock to the '07 picture.

And for good reason. It's not perfect, but it's enjoyable and a lot of fun. The original was flat, boring, dark, and silly. (Too silly even for kids.)

Strike four.

And with that, I'm done. I lost respect for your opinion over the course of typing this post. Your careless assumptions of people you don't even know, is disgusting.

Yes, a hive mind in the public is a bad thing, and stupidity wins out, but those voices who speak out (without judgment), those few folks who go with the herd, but still blaze their own path...they're worth recognizing. They're worth giving a second chance to.

Like Tommy Lee Jones said in MIB: "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it." The same principle applies here. Together, yes, people tend to let stupidity reign, and that's what sells in Hollywood. But those smart people are slowly starting to build in numbers, and Hollywood's taking notice. Which is why TF2 is bigger, supposedly better, and supposedly more entertaining. Bay had to make concessions with the first film to get our collective foot in the door, but now that it paid off, he's been given more time, more freedom and ultimately more TFs. I think it was a fair trade off. We get two enjoyable films, more robots the second time, and everyone and their brother wants to go see it.

Well...except for you. You want to wait for DVD so you can make a silly cover for it. And that really is silly, because if you don't like his work, why in the hell would you support it by buying a DVD? I think, more likely, you just didn't get G1 on film, and it's giving you neeeeerrrrrdddd rrrrraaaaaaggggge. Remember, G1 wasn't the only TF universe that had any impact. Beast Wars was intelligent, funny, and handled beautifully. Animated was the best of the best and just knocked it out of the park.

G1 doesn't have to be the end all, be all of TFs. It only is if you allow it to be. Which is fine, but you're sure missing out on a GREAT ride. I pity you for that.

I don't recall any cheesy lines, if you could quote some for us, it would help

"If you're gonna ride, Dan-o, ride in style!"

"First we crack the shell, then we crack the nuts inside!"

"Every time I look into a monitor, Prime, my circuits sizzle. When are we gonna start busting Decepti-chops?"

"Delicious, eh, Shrapnel?" "A little heavy on the electrons, electrons."

"Jettison some weight, or I'll never make it to Cybertron!" Megatron was thrown overboard because Astrotrain doesn't know basic physics.

"Hey! Nobody calls Soundwave un-cruzimatic!" "Yeah, lets kick tailgate!"

And pretty much every line spoken by the Dinobots, Blurr, or Wheelie (The Jar Jar of Transformers), or that stupid universal greeting.

When you say "I peacefully disagree" it's proper to follow it up with "but I respect your opinion." For future reference, "Grasping at straws" means that someone is trying poorly to support their argument, and typically when saying that you are not peacefully disagreeing.

Look man, you cannot say that he has made 2 bad films when you're not even going to see this in the theaters.

True, there were some parts I didn't like about the movie, but so what? Was the movie terrible? No.

Special effects of the first movie = win

Humor? Name one action movie that didn't have some form of humor in it not to mention it was PG-13, what did you expect, rainbows and bunnies and flowers? In this day and age, some PG-13 movies would be rated R back in the 80's.

I can respect the fact that you didn't like the movie, or like Bay for that reason. I'm happy that he's bringing Transformers to a whole new generation and I think he should be given some sort of props.

I suggest you do not automatically generalize the new movie until you see it.

As for more characters? I would like to see more, you can't expect the same characters all the time, that's why they killed off so many in the 86 version. New characters = new interest = new toys = new money. I personally would like to see Springer and Blitzwing in the 3rd movie along with the combaticons.

Good post man. Thank you for responding. I have read a few reviews on TF2 and I did search for some consistent info. The film was rushed. It normally takes about 3 years to make a great film..."normally" TF2 was made in like a year and 1 half. a couple new bots would be cool, but not more than 3. If I was a toy collector then maybe. Good post though mate. Your debate style is superb.

I guess we did then.

 Shadow.

Im just happy Cyber Bishop is reading now. Notice I don't respond to some wackos (baseball players)? Robinson & Shadowman is who Ive been replying to.

I dont think bishop is that happy that he has to get brought into threads like this the while still remaining civil is a very ridiculous topic to begin with.

I bet he like to babysit too. 8)

Aside from all the back and forth crap this part of your post confuses me cooly. You said it takes about a year to make a great film and tf2 was made in 1 1/2 years. So if it took longer to make than a "great film" how is it rushed at the same time?

It was a typo, but it has been edited to 3 years, if so ridiculous, why post in it?, do you think you have the skills to change my mind about how Bay does TF movies? Its funny that you say bishop shouldn't remain civil...I think it is great he didn't lash out angrily at me. It shows fairness and equality. Although I can not say the same for others on here. People get so upset that I wont spend my money on this project. Its like peer pressure to gang up on the person with a different opinion. BUT, I hope Mr. Bay can finally give us REAL fans a great Tranformers movie. Nothing ridiculous about that. Have a good night man.
