Now that the guys has done 2 bad TF films, will he ever redeem himself? I am actually hoping that he can people. It will be a few years for the reboot...so I am hoping he can finally produce a quality TF film. He shouldn't add anymore character. His judgment in picking bots has been terrible, so he might as well just expand on the characters he has already created. Let us know more about Soundwave, Arcee & Sideswipe. Please kill off Spike's girlfriend!! I don't really like her that much. Really no need or place for her in a TF movie. Paramont, Hasbro, Dreamworks has cashed in enough on the brand. It is about time they give us fans something good and stop catering to the MTV audience. Just 1 good movie is all I am asking for people. Not a trilogy or saga, but 1 good Transformers film. Mike Bay claims he will be taking a so called break from the brand, hopefully in this time frame he can figure out a way to make a great TF film. I can only hope.

well, by the time 3 gets here....enough satire will ruin the brand as a cgicash in on summer movies. Will it go like spiderman 3( largely considered the worst spiderman movie...idc if it made money ) or xmen3( which was christened by the xmen fanboys as the worst) i kinda liked xmen 3. yea the bot selection sucks....they dont even know what they are doing with the characters lol how the hell you get frenzy and blackout and skorponok out of trying to put soundwave in the first movie???? and the bots are bots in name only.... heres hoping even megs gets more than the very few lines he had in the first!!!! and my optimus prime is red instead of blue.

I like the first one! And I haven't seen the second one yet, but I bet I will like that one, too.

As a younger, and therefore more recent TransFan, I don't expect the movie to be a big-screen live-action version of the crap show and toys from the '80's. A real movie should focus on PEOPLE, not just robots. No one wants any more insight on Arcee than whatever it is she (or more accurately it) is supposed to be.

I am cheering for the guy to finally make a great Transformers film, man I really am. I don't want to bash this guy anymore. 1 movie is all I am asking for. Just one! Let us see WHO not WHAT these robots actually are, let us get to know them, like the show and comic did. Even though I never read any of the comics, I am sure people were able to pick up on different personalities. We know who Prime is, We know Bumblebee is the guardian, but who is Ironhide? who is Ratchet? They have yet to really shine, just background stuff, some people are fans of Ironhide and Ratchet, time to let them get more face time. Same applies to Soundwave and Starscream. Just the fact that there was no face to face interaction between Soundwave & Starscream is a major let down. Cmon Bay we know you don't respect the fans man, but 1 just 1 good movie is all we want. PLEASE.

Spider Man 1 and X Men 2 were the best of there trilogies....IMO

You know, you make claims in other threads that your not negative towards the first movies, but yet you start this thread making claims that bay has made 2 bad TF films when you haven't even seen the second. And this is suppose to be what?.... Positive?

I for one think Bays going in the right direction. The first movie while not perfect, was for the most part everything a TF movie should be. Good popcorn action flick. Not the academy awarding winning "Film" that some seem to think it should be. Could ther have been more character development and more scenes with the bots? Of course. But heck, it was a learning experience. From what I've seen in Previews and clips,it seems like many of the "problems" people had with the first movie have been addressed to some extent in the second. Things can only get better from here!

Does it honor the real cybertronians in ANY way that "hey when i watch your screen counterparts it makes me want to EAT popcorn".....would you say that to a real cybertronian????

Have I seen the movie? No. Have I read reviews and the plot/storyline? Yes. I didn't like what I read, nor did I really expect to. I was hoping to be wrong. Honestly!! But the Bay guy can't do them right, SO FAR, he is supposed to be doing the 3rd film so I am just hoping he does them right since is may be his last. Understand I want a good TF flick from Bay. Well, Blackout started off as Soundwave, but the writers decided that he didn't have enough screen time or lines. Frenzy turns into a radio like G1 Soundwave did, but they realized that his personality was nothing like Soundwave's, so they changed the name. Scorponok was going to be Ravage not Soundwave.

To this day, i still don't get how anyone can view the 86' movie as being a Master piece, Classic, or any other description that leads people to hold it up in the holier-than-thao stat-ice and then call the 07' movie crap.
I'll agree that we need some insight to the people as well as the bots. Like'em or not, they are, and always will be part of the plot.

Another thing to consider..

Even if we do get another remake in say... 15 yrs time. Just like The dark Knight movies with a whole new outlook, as well as new directors. There's still no guarantee that it will trump Bay's Movies. And even if it did, he would have Bay to thank since the Director would have known what does, and doesn't work for the TF in a live action movie. To this day i still haven't seen anyone give any good recommendations for alternative directors besides

Well i don't buy that. Cause that doesn't guarantee success of a movie. Look at the Batman movie directer b Joel Schumacher. Batman and Robin, and "Batman Forever" were more true to the original series and comics than any other of the movies. And those were considered buy the majority of critics and fans alike to be the worst of the movie franchise.
What works 20 yrs prior, does not mean it will work in the present.

The 86 vs 07 vs 09 is a whole different animal bro. Comparisons will be made of the 3 movies.

Too many classic lines and moments in the 86 film man. TOO MANY, I don't agree with your Batman opinion man. The Tim Burtons films were great.

As far as who should direct Transformers, I say someone who respects the fanbase like the Star Trek and Lord of the Rings guys do. Respect! not "Its MY movie and I do what I want with it, Its Mine" That is not the right way to do things. The fans said they wanted to see Soundwave...what did they get? a Soundwave that doesn't transform. The fans wanted more familiar bots, what did they get? Jolts, Sideways, Scapal & The Fallen....why man? Its like doing a Batman movie and giving Batman a sidekick named Ducksauce who has blond hair and purple outfit with a white cap. People are going to be disappointed because we all know that is not what a batman sidekick is.

Much like a "true fan" there is no such thing. I think what he means is that only G1 is the "real Cybertronians" but then that's saying that only the original is real, and that everything afterwords is fake. Which is just not true.

For the most part i agree. Its not really fair to compare an animated flick to a live action. But what I'm getting at is that many have complained about the plot and cheesyness of the 07' movie, yet some how don't see the same (if not even more so) cheesyness of the 86' movie. Cause the 86' flick was cheesyness at its best.

Re-read my post. I never said anything about Tim Burton's movies. I specifically said Joel Schumacher's movies. (Opps. I said "Batman returns and "Batman Forever" when i meant to say "Batman & Robin and Batman Forever". My Bad. But i did say the movie Schumacher directed.)

I don't find it as disrespect in any form. Making a movie into a vision of what they have is a directors prerogative.... To a point. Personally, I don't feel Bay has bastardised the franchise in any way. He's given us a new universe just like energon, Beast Wars, Armada etc. I will admit that i am disappointed to hear that we only see Soundwave in Satellite mode, but i won't let that ruin the movie for me.
As for using more popular bots, i think he's doing a good job of balancing the popular, with the unpopular bots. The movie series wouldn't be much fun if he used all of the most popular characters right off the bat. Then you wouldn't have much to look forward to in the sequels. IN this case i feel the Autobots got the popular pics in the first movie, and this time around the Cons are getting the attention. Good balance.

Bay needs to sit down an watch the 86 Classic, I think he would learn a lot from that movie, I think he may have seen it, but probably missed some real cool scenes, as well as dialog that sorta make the movie so great. The 86 movie was definitely darker than the show IMO.

I think he did watch the 86 movie. It was in the hasbro tutorial of what not to do.
