Im sure the figure is going to be kick ass but i dont feel like rejoining. I got screwed over the first time i did. And the price they ask is a bit to much for to little product.

That could possibly be one of the worst Transformers head sculpts ever. Look how fugly his face is! What's with the eyes? What about his weird mouth/lips? Yikes. I'd definitely put it toward the bottom of the list. No wonder why the club can't give that figure away.

Nope, I wasn't kidding at all.

The most fugly head-sculpt of all time is BotCon Ironhide/Ratchet:

I really like Counterpunch's head. It looks very show-accurate to his portrayal in the Headmaster cartoon:

I'm pretty sure he was $80 for club members. Those prices have always been pretty consistent with club and convention exclusives which are always 3 to 5 times the amount of a comparable retail figure.

Actually, Nightbeat was $48 (not $40, as is laterally suggested by the 2nd post in this thread) for club members, and Astrotrain et al was $87. (For questions regarding exclusive costs, consult the datasheet).

You can argue that translates into $88 for non-members (or $127 for Astrotrain), but that's really misleading. If you pay the $88, you become a member. It's the $40 membership fee tacked on to the $48 (or $87) figure cost, and you get the magazine and incentive figure, too. There's really no such thing as a "non-member" price for these figures, and it's confusing to say there is (even if Fun Pub themselves do so).

I got a question, will this be just one figure or two? I read somewhere about this and it kept referring to this new exclusive in the plural form. :?:

Am I the only one curious as to how the whole bit with both modes having properly oriented hands is gonna work out?

I mean, take Sideswipe (or even Sunstreaker) and transform him the other way, and you'll note that his hands end up upside down. What is Punch/Counterpunch gonna have a thumb on either side of his fingers, like the Elites in Halo?

That's right. I legitimately forgot how much they were.

I even went back to the club store account I have to see the pricing for them and oddly enough Astrotrain and Airrazor were the only two NOT in my purchase history (though I bought them when they first came out).

Actually, very likely that. Or, they simply make the hands look less detailed so that wrong sided thumbs don't exist.
Personally, I'm hoping for the double thumbs...but that might cost more to do.

I am also hoping that his head has some moving bits to it, so as to cover up the face on the other side when he is in the opposite mode, like the G1 toy did.

Once we get some prototype pics we'll know for certain, and if he has that much work in him I may get two, to display at the same time in each mode.

I'm also hoping for a custom instructions sheet, seeing as the original toy wasn't designed to transform exactly the way the cover image makes it look, according to Hasbro's instructions for Sideswipe and Sunstreaker (their legs don't change, accoding to my instruction, but are certainly capable of being differentiated as the drawing shows)

A good use for a mold that is already technically double-sided. I'm reserving final judgement until we see what the actual head looks like instead of artwork, but the idea is great.

I like the look of what they are going to do with the gun - it looks like the sunstreaker air intake/whatever they are are going to be able to be attached to the exhaust/gun in one way or another - with the double barrelled/single barreled gun being just the exhaust put into the hand one way or the other. Awesome!

If someone else has explicitly answered this already, I missed it, so I'll go ahead here.

It's just one figure. Perhaps you weren't around for Generation One Punch/Counterpunch, way back in 1987, which this new club figure homages. Basically, it's a figure that has two robot forms, in addition to a vehicle mode. Each robot mode is intended to belong to the opposing faction. Punch (the Autobot) is the "real" personality, but poses as Counterpunch (the Decepticon) for espionage purposes (he's often referred to as the "Doublespy," which perhaps makes this more clear).

In concept, Animated did something rather similar this past year with Shockwave/Longarm.
