You aren't missing anything.
Yes, my bots still using X-Ray Laser to score XPs because I'm messed by the weapons (it seems that weapons at the same level (fp1 sk0, fp2 sk2 etc.) do the same thing)

1. Not enough high lv bots
2. they have more xp -> more speed + avoid -> always skip and jump -> gain more xp -> repeat the cycle :twisted:

dunno if this one is "brag" worthy, but it was a 6 on 5 bout in our autobot favor, BUT the Cons had 2 lvl 3's, 2 lvl 2's, and 1 lvl 1, and we only had 3 level 2's, 2 lvl 1's, and 1 lvl zero bot....

I have to say, I'm really digging Aviana and Bloodfang. They're like gigantic, slow, defenseless turkeys that bend over and let me do the carvin'. They're fat enough to feed a family of six! It's like Thanksgiving everyday!
